Great video. One thing regarding propane connections. Always use copper line with flare fittings or stainless line with compression fittings. This won't leak. Don't use nose and jubilee clips. I always have manual anutodd valves. No servos or electronic valves,. Manual ones always work and it teaches you to shut the gas off, just like on a house bbq. Valve off and no gas can flow and leak. I'm a gasfitter by trade,
Barry.. Magnus front sailing Nutshell didn't blow up from gas! He sprayed I think it was break cleaner in the engine bay and had the kettle on for a cuppa, it was the highly flammable fumes from the aerosol cans of break cleaner that caused the explosion.
I used to fight the local gas tank regulators when I lived in Costa Rica. Trust me you don't want their type on a boat. They have 40,000 accidents a year in houses I heard. I'm glad your setup is safer. Your videos are great, even though I don't know a thing about sailing.
Just a little background. I've been cruising well over 40 plus years on a 35 cutter, center cockpit. In my humble opinion anything over 30 feet must have an electric windlass. It's exstreamly important when anchoring or relieving your anchor having the ability to use both hands! The best is having a deck mounted foot switch either up/down works. But Barry, having to open your forward hatch, passing up the hand held remote under calm conditions is just not the case 85 percent of the time! Rain, sea water, open hatch is an accident ready to happen. Then you have to remember to secure the remote and then close the hatch from below all is unnecessary if only you has a dedicated mounted foot switch. Remember, two hands when anchoring.
I did mention this before Barry, but the Xintex Fireboy gas solenoid runs hot as well. Safe operating temperature is 85° C. That is warm I can tell you. So if it is 85°, your gas is quite happy. Your propane needs a minimum of 493° C to ignite without a flame. You would have branded yourself if it was that temperature. You should get yourself a hand held temperature gun. Very useful I can tell you, but would you listen 😊. Here's a thing, you can't bring that shaker Delonix Regia seed pod is going to attract the attention of AQUIS if you come to Australia. The good news is you can pick one up on almost every street in Queensland.
You didn't keep the dog?!? Thank You for all of the hard work and getting the videos out, awesome content, filming and editing. Looking forward to much more to come!
That looks like a little suzuki 2 horse! If it is I had one just like it and it was the most reliable, bullet proof little outboard I have ever had! Not a power house but will never let you down other than maybe having to pull the stater off and hit it with a little emery clothe once in a while if it sits for long periods of time,..
The gas shutoff servo should be in the propane locker not in the galley, this way you dont have the lines full of gas all the time. Any leak will keep propane flowing into the boat, big no no.
Re your gas solenoid -- usually they are operated by a short 12v Operation, then the voltage reduces to 5V to hold - getting hot sounds like 12V constant !!
You are doing a great job but don't be shy about asking you many caring followers and friends for help with you many refit projects. Many hands makes the job go easier. We would be happy to help. Stay safe.
You know I’ve been watching you for a very long time. You’ve been an inspiration to my my journey. I never committed but I think you are amazing. Keep it up! 😊
Solenoid valve not servo valve, electro magnet pulls up a plunger to let the valve open. The coil will get hot very quickly if the plunger does not move.
So, who knew when you filmed that piece where you're treating corrosion in the bilge and you make the comment about not wanting water to come through, that a year later, that's exactly what happened! Hope your current haulout is going ok, and that hole you found is the only one!
What I have found about outboards is that gasoline from a gas station ruins them because, at least in the US, it contains alcohol. The alcohol absorbs water and causes corrosion in the carburetor that plugs up all the tiny holes. I have been using alcohol free gasoline for a few years now and have had no problems, even after storing the motors over the winter. Also a good idea to run the carb dry if not using the motor for a while. Cheers.

One should not have a hose clamp over the wider part of the pipe. The clamp is not there to make a tight seal, but prevent the hose from coming off. Doing it wrong you actually increase the chance for a leak. There is some expert how to's vids on YT regarding hose clamps for anyone doing this sort of repairs :)
You should add an extension tube to the tiller handle of that outboard. One major problem with dinghy outboards is gasoline left in the carburetor for long periods.
