It's very deterring. Sorry to hear. I stopped getting my fishes online completely because of my last shipment loss as well. Just too much stress for them.
awesome update IR but sorry the cardinals did not make it.. The damsels look great and your Frogspawn looks very similar to mine😀. I can't wait for the next update.
Wow gut wrenching. Funny I was looking at the very same fish at my LFS a couple weeks ago and was so close to buying. After talking with the clerk I decided against it. Your fish appear to have died from stress. Its hard to say just what but here are some of the issues for more sensitive fish; aquamating to quickly, temperature, pH, ammonia, salinity and low oxygen. Although knowing you you were careful with all that. I say all this from my own losses. Also I have a thing about quarantining my fish separately.
I like the music selection of this video. What juandra? Bummer about the fish. I've had a few fish show up dead via Liveaquaria, they've always been good with refunds/exchanges.
Wow that's sad. Such a disappointment but makes you wonder what happened and also things like that makes you a stronger more determined reefer. Try Reef escape in Fairfax, Va they do amazing job with QT.
Thanks I will hit them up when I try it again! Also just learned that ORA tank bred these cardinals, may be a good source if a store could order some for me.
I got my threadfin cardinals through ORA via my local fish store. I had to wait until my LFS was ready to do an order but they gave me a heads-up and called me when the shipment arrived so I could just drive over pick them up *still in the bags from ORA*. Super healthy and captive bred. You can see them about 10 seconds into this video of my tank: ua-cam.com/video/P62WZ5WXfpw/v-deo.html
They look great in your tank! I did not know ORA already has tank bred Threadfin Cardinals otherwise I probably would have gone that route. Thanks for the heads up!
I'm so sad because somehow when I cleaned up my subscribed list you somehow were taken with everyone else. I though you hadn't posted in a while... Anyways I'm resubbed and I am glad to see SOOO many comments on here and the 5K subs. Wow! Congrats! Maybe one day we could a Co-Op video together ;)
sorry to hear about your cardinalfish, had the same thing happen to me with purchasing a group of 4 bangai cardinals and all 4 died in quarantine in 2 days(found out they were wild caught) got another 4 from another fish store that were tank bred and lord behold, they were all fine. I'd be carefull about adding both yellowtail damsels to your 45 gallon tank as they can get really aggressive later on in life and i don't think you want to tear the tank down to catch them.
Thanks, I did not know there are tank bred Threadfin now, I will definitely go that route the next time around. Yeah... I'm starting to think it may be tough to pull the damsels from the 45g in the future, I may just keep them in the 17 until they outgrow it.
Them fish just weren't meant to be man sorry for the losses. Don't let it put you off.. If you know it wasn't your paramiters then there was nothing you could really do. These things happen and from what I can see the tanks looking great. :) keep your chin up!!
That sucks bro. as far as clean up crew a cleaner shrimp would do a great job scavenging the drop off tank. it'd be great going up and down the drop off
IMO threadfins probably aren't the best to order online, especially from LA. They're bound to come in with some sort of disease, and due to their natural diet they do better the more you feed them in smaller portions.
Sorry to hear about the Cardinals. IR, you know o have 2 damsels and they are the meanist fish ever. my 2 stripe claims territory all to himself once he settles his behavior then only then he'll let the new fish live. he beat the crap out of both drwaf angels the first week. The 3 stripe damsel literally bites me and head butts me when I have to stick my hand in for maintenance or whatever. Don't do it buddy, you'll regret it later.
Haha yeah I probably shouldn't add them to the 45g, they would be much harder to catch once they go in there. We will see when the time gets a little closer! ;-)
I dripped from the tank's saltwater and turned off the ATO while dripping. I can't really figure out what it is as well. As a test I used the exact same method with the damsels... but that may not be a fair comparison since damsels are pretty bullet proof.
Inappropriate Reefer too bad next time try to buy them and see their tanks in person.. the process going through is very important! cheerup!! I recommend ORA or Palau captivebred good luck again
Wow, those blue damsels have always been super aggressive for me in the past. You must have really good luck with them. I like them too but stay away from them now.
I know this comment is too little too late, however. Cardinalfish ship very poorly. They very rarely arrive alive, to the point where my LFS won't order them anymore. You'll have better luck with ordering captive bred Bangaii. Anyway. Happy Reefing.
Would the ammonia spike happens so fast though? Maybe for the ones that passed away over night. Although I think I do take out the bodies pretty timely...
Cardinals seem to be really bad shippers. a friend of mine ordered 3 types of apogon Cardinals, about 50 in all, and the survival percentage was not very good when they showed up.
Roman Frotan. ive had better luck when ive went there and checked them out myself never walked away with a bad fish in my case they shipped the fish out without letting me know i just happen to be off one day and fed ex showed up
that tank may be better for bangai cardnals only draw back they only want meaty foods the ones i had would put there nose up at any pellets or flake foods
That stinks, I have struggled with cardinals in the past. Once you get them established, the challenges don't end there. Have you ever thought about a small school of hippo tangs for your drop off?
Joes Coral the biggest loss ive had was 25 neon tetras. A few died in transit, and they slowly trickled down through out the day. In the end i only had 2 still alive
Inappropriate Reefer they are hardy after acclimation. Its a lot harder to acclimate large groups of fish (as you not know😂) they were all stressed, so they did not tune into the acclimation process very well.
Sorry that happened to you but IMHO, not your fault at all. If you have an animal DOA in the shipment then something is really wrong. You shouldn't have to receive fish in that condition. They look like they were collected with cyanide, dying off one at a time, like that. Nothing you could have done would have saved them. I think everyone here is thinking the same. On another note, even healthy cardinalfish are not the easiest to take care of. If you like cards, try picking up a captive bred Banggai (only keep a single fish).
Hey guys, yes they did with no question asked (refunded back to my cc, with store credit as an option). They even offered free shipping as soon as they heard that I placed an order for replacements. The company is great, the fish just unfortunately did not make it this time.
Shoooot I totally forgot to talk about the coral, was too preoccupied, LOL. I'll show you guys in the upcoming 45g tank update, it has been awhile. ;-)
same thing happend to me the first and last time i bought cardinals i bought 3 of them all 3 of them were dead the next day..nothing wrong with your tank get a clown and they will last you 10 years is just does cardinals are very fragile.
Yeah they even offered me free shipping after learning that I placed an order for replacement fish (before I cancelled). They refunded me the cost of the fish with no question asked. I chatted with their customer service reps a few times, they are top notch.
Im sorry to be this guy but first
ReptiReefer so sorry 2 see this . this is what it hate about the hobby
me to this is the first and last time I will say first
You're a good guy. Sorry for your loss. I can see you care for fish a lot.
You're going to love the Talbot damsel they're awesome! I always love your videos as well
Thanks, the Talbot Damsel glows yellow and purple under the actinic light, I was pretty surprised!
You make some really great quality videos. aAwesome job!
It's very deterring. Sorry to hear.

Thanks for watching Scott!

What was the coral addition?
Wow that's sad. Such a disappointment but makes you wonder what happened and also things like that makes you a stronger more determined reefer. Try Reef escape in Fairfax, Va they do amazing job with QT.
DC Reefer first

Is the Marine NUVO Fusion Aquarium 40 Gallon a good aquarium to start with? Do you know ? Thanks

Im sorry for your loss
poor cardinals!
can't wait to see your secret coral!
Oh shoot why 😰😰😰😰😰😰 this was sad to watch indeed and they are cute looking fish too .... what a depressing day for you IR and it started so well too 🤧
Is there anything wrong with you water?
what's the orange looking coral at 1:59 and the blue and yellow damsels are aggressive little fish lol
reef guy 92 it's a walking Dendro
JVS Reefs is that a sps or lps
I think it would be considered an LPS. They are tough to keep because you have to feed them directly because they do not depend on light
Very close! It's a Fathead Dendro I picked up a few months back, here is a bit more about these guys: ua-cam.com/video/SpMYLWAwxvw/v-deo.html
Dang man, that sucks. Want some of these for my reefer 250!
IMO threadfins probably aren't the best to order online, especially from LA. They're bound to come in with some sort of disease, and due to their natural diet they do better the more you feed them in smaller portions.
It’s so much stress for fish, from the ocean then shipped half way round world to store then to buyer
Hey IR. Sorry about the fish. It is a tough pill for sure
Sorry to hear about the Cardinals.
IR, you know o have 2 damsels and they are the meanist fish ever. my 2 stripe claims territory all to himself once he settles his behavior then only then he'll let the new fish live. he beat the crap out of both drwaf angels the first week. Will you do video on your QT!
do you use tank water or fresh saltwater? whats wrong with your water?
I dripped from the tank's saltwater and turned off the ATO while dripping. I can't really figure out what it is as well. As a test I used the exact same method with the damsels... but that may not be a fair comparison since damsels are pretty bullet proof.

Are they freshwater fish?
Jeff guzman saltwater
Wow, those blue damsels have always been super aggressive for me in the past. You must have really good luck with them. I like them too but stay away from them now.
sadly this has been the case everytime ive ordered from liveAquaria they dont seem to survive for very long only thing ive had survive is my snails.
Didn't you have any PVC pipe for them to hide in? They don't like to be exposed like that.
I know this comment is too little too late, however. Cardinalfish ship very poorly. They very rarely arrive alive, to the point where my LFS won't order them anymore. You'll have better luck with ordering captive bred Bangaii. Anyway. Happy Reefing.
Bummer.
Is it possible that the six fish you put in caused an ammonia spike,
Would the ammonia spike happens so fast though? Maybe for the ones that passed away over night. Although I think I do take out the bodies pretty timely...
It's possible, especially if they were in bad shape from shipping and the drip acclimation.
Bummer!
Definitely the shipping and not you
I bet they were wild caught. That sucks! I'm sure liveaquaria will refund you. Let us know how that works out!
have you been watching my videos lol. that's the school of fish I have. I call them blue eye cardinals...same fish tho
They look fantastic in your tank!
Inappropriate Reefer they're so peaceful and love to school. hope u have better luck with the next batch
Im considering buying fish from LIVEAQUARIA but I feel like the fish will come so stressed they would have ICK!!
Cardinals seem to be really bad shippers. a friend of mine ordered 3 types of apogon Cardinals, about 50 in all, and the survival percentage was not very good when they showed up.
had the same thing happen when i order some anthias on sale from petco.com they came and one by one they dropped off they replaced all the fish
Roman Frotan. ive had better luck when ive went there and checked them out myself never walked away with a bad fish in my case they shipped the fish out without letting me know i just happen to be off one day and fed ex showed up
I wonder if it is the shipping stress too... I have gotten many fish from my local PetCo before and all of them made it.
Sorry about losing your fish
that tank may be better for bangai cardnals only draw back they only want meaty foods the ones i had would put there nose up at any pellets or flake foods
I'm not sure but isn't his drop off 17 gallons that way to small for any tang
Dang, I thought once acclimated they'd be pretty hardy... not the case?
Inappropriate Reefer they are hardy after acclimation. Its a lot harder to acclimate large groups of fish (as you not know😂) they were all stressed, so they did not tune into the acclimation process very well.
Its a lot better to acclimate them in "waves." I lost all 25 of the first batch. Then i got 5-10 at a time once a week and they all lived
We have the same pants 🖖🏼
+Stephanie Williams haha high-5 for elephant pants from Thailand!
Sorry that happened to you but IMHO, not your fault at all. If you have an animal DOA in the shipment then something is really wrong. You shouldn't have to receive fish in that condition. Bangai cardinals???
Haha never mind. Didnt wait till 6:30 😂😂😂
WAIT DID LIVEAQUARIA REFUND YOUR $$ ?
TheAquariumChannel That's what I wanna know
TheAquariumChannel I'm sure they did. they always refund me no questions asked
Hey guys, yes they did with no question asked (refunded back to my cc, with store credit as an option). They even offered free shipping as soon as they heard that I placed an order for replacements. The company is great, the fish just unfortunately did not make it this time.
i dont like cardinal fish did you check all your water parameters?
man that sucks sorry u lost your fish ir rip little fish ✌
I bought 10 and now down to 2 :( live aquaria
Which coral did u get.. man talk about cliff hangers lol.
Sorry to hear about your bad exp with the cardinals as well... =/
Get a small powder blue for the cube lol
Can you get your money back from live aquaria
Yeah they even offered me free shipping after learning that I placed an order for replacement fish (before I cancelled). They refunded me the cost of the fish with no question asked. I chatted with their customer service reps a few times, they are top notch.
