  • Using a DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter to video aerial views of Stonehenge. As you will see the site is undergoing quite a bit of renovation, which spoils the scene.
I did ask permission to enter, but the guy on the gate advised me that I would have to write to English Heritage. He was not prepared to let me in. This is why I am in an adjacent field. Security said that they had no objections to me filming from outside of the area provided that I did not execute any direct overhead shots.
I advised them that I would abide by the CAA guidelines and remain at least 50 metres distant from the monument at all times.
The video was carried out at 7:25AM on a Sunday to avoid the public.
I hope that you enjoy the video such as it is.

Nice. You can imagine the moat and woodhenge around it. This is just what's left.

Great video, surprised 'security' let you do this....any thoughts of filming nunney castle,I think you could base yourself in the church yard nearby ?

Thanks for the feedback. I did ask security on the main gate down the road and that guy (didn't get his name) said that provided that I didn't fly directly overhead then he didn't see any problems. I also said that I would fly within CAA guidelines for ancient monuments so he seemed happy. As I was operating from a Public footpath, short of shooting it down I don't think there was much that they could do. I was there for about 10 minutes.
Thanks for the suggestion of filming Nunney Castle - It's now on the list. Looks like a great candidate for an interesting video. Watch this space.
