- Part one of a new series about how to customise and maintain your angling technics microcat. During the series I’ll be doing various mods to a boat to demonstrate how you can modify your own angling technics microcat.
Each episode I’ll go through the process, step by step, to explain how you can modify your bait boat so that it’s lighter, quicker, configurable and easy to maintain.

Top draw Dave. Looking to mod mine Mk1 and parts 1-4 are great inspiration. Much of the electronics is a bit over my head, but nothing I won't get as I look into it. Great info - very much appreciated.

Well done, i have a mk3 which i stripped down and put sp board in, although in the end i sent it to Dave Ravenhill Raves Waves and he finished it, he put in 2x 12v kincarp lipo batteries, not cheap, but boy they lasted the week running 4 rods out twice a day 120yrds plus.

Brilliant mods mate FairPlay I've picked up a microcat boat myself second hand and I think what you have done is genious, where did you get the servo holders from please and all the bolts from that episode

Ime upgrading a broken mk1 microcat with built in fish finder what power does the finder take to make it work also how do you get original hopper system to work with 2.4 receiver system I’ve done a few boats before but that was 15 years ago just playing it by ear now need help done most of the wiring just finishing touches😊

My microcat mk3 lights have stopped working and i think its down to water getting in.

Hi Dave I really have enjoyed watching your upgrades on the microcat have you a video on the motors as I have a problem with what i think is a weak motor which is really affecting the trim and think it might be time to replace them. Cheers
Hi Chris, thanks. I don’t have a video on the motors but if you’re looking to buy replacements, they’re fitted with Rule 1100 GPH bilge pumps

I’m going to try and do the self prime mod on a microcat mk 1 and was after any info on the bleed nipples that I need to buy….size / type ect as I know nothing about them also are the other end on the back of the boat 1 way valves? Hi, here’s an answer to this question I’ve done previously: Hi, are you talking about the self prime mod? I didn’t do this myself as it was already done to the boat when I got it but I would go with 5mm silicone tubing and use 5mm water cooling nipples. Have a look on eBay, there are loads of them, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm. Search for water cooling nipples.

@Dave Mattock done a few procats which is real easy! Cant get my head around the 4escs or 2 escs and split the signal. 1st vid is a nice clear and easy one though 👌
@@paulmebay honestly, it’s easy, it’ll be just 2 esc’s for the 4 pumps. It’s the question I get asked the most and pretty much the reason why I decided to put this series together.
@Dave Mattock thought it might but didnt know if it would reduce the power. Looking forward to seeing how you make the top removable. Its a real pain. I've just had to split the whole thing to literally push the bind button
Does anyone no where you can source new jets as one of mine is running slower and hardly turns left when in water

Hi Jan, it’ll be a controller that’s configured via a GUI. It’s a lot cheaper than using the Toslon autopilot.

Hi I was just wondering what sealant you use to re seal it if you wernt doing the lid upgrade ?
Hi, I use black Dowsil 791. I believe it’s the same stuff Angling Technics use to reseal their boats.
Do you have to take the sealant out the centre of the boat, around the bait trays?
Yeah, I had the remove the sealant from everywhere. Just forgot to film that part when doing the episode.
Do you have the controller receiver and speed controller you have taken off the boat for sale Dave

What size bleed nipples are used in the motors and in the back of the boat to make it a non prime. Thanks
I didn’t actually do the set priming mod myself but you would just need to get yourself 4 M5 bleed nipples, some silicone tubing and an M5 tap to tap holes to the pumps where the white plastic meets the red plastic. Screw the bleed nipples into the tapped holes, seal them up and attach the silicone hose to those. Same at the stern of the boat. Do the exact same thing there and that’s it.
Hi Dave, I’ve just got back into my fishing again and just purchased a microcat mk1, is the self priming pump upgrade fairly easy to do? Can’t find anything anywhere showing how to do it

I have taken apart my mk3 microcat and it has a angling technics reciever and its lost its binding have you any idea how they bind it's a spectrum dx5e but there are no plug sockets or wires to join on the reciever

Hi Brian, I think the receiver would be inside the black box sealed to the underside of the lid, you would need to open this up and use a bind plug (a lead that connects two pins on the bind port of the receiver) to re-bind it. Never done this on a microcat but did used to use Spektrum radios.

Thanks real strange one I opened up the box and it's got an angling technics reciever with no place for a bind plug or wires to join I have a mate who is up on radio controlled cars and planes and he was baffled

@@brianking9197 if there’s no obviously place to fit a bind plug, I doubt I’ll be able to help. Probably best to give Angling Technics a call to see if they can advise how they bind their boats.
