That donkey clearly had a good first experience with you as his farrier. Donkeys are really smart, so it's critical that the first experience at the farrier's is a good one. Nice, professional job.
I like the way you handle him. I have seen several videos from China of them trimming donkeys with extremely bad feet. The treatment those donkeys receive is considerably rougher than this fellow. Also, your trimming technique is better.
The first one I saw from that Chinese channel they laughed at the donkey because he was walking with a duck waddle, he was probably in a lot of pain I didn't find it funny :(
I know, l too saw a couple of those videos from China and this was enough for me 😳 .. l felt soo bad for those donkeys. You could tell they were terrified with the farrier he was so so rough with them.. 😦
I saw those videos too with "the m@$t3r" for lack of better hiding the phrase... As disgusted as I was/am, with the whole process there's and whatnot, on the other hand, the culture is so different. We put our fur kids first (well, any GOOD critter mum and dad in the 'western' (including Australia where I am, NZ, and many other places) world, whereas in that other country mentioned, - you've seen what the diet consists of in travel shows or people's holidays, street vendors and what they keep in cages etc... And their donkey's are no different. They have terrible working conditions, their owners are poor and let hooves get long so they weigh more as every cent feeds the family, etc. When I initially saw the big knives used to trim with I was a bit horrified then a part of me thought ok if you have a lot to remove and no power tools that could and does work... And was going to buy and send him a brand new set of nippers, a good rasp and good knife - then saw he has a set of nippers (though I think he used pullers at one stage to nip then realised there was a lump of metal in what he cut off against the flat edge...) But he's got the tools in a box or roll - he just prefers his knives. He will often do the job for free or very lowered costs and in the ones I've been able to use subtitles for, the dude narrating has said he is educating sternly the owners on not letting them get that way. So now I'm in two minds. If he's all they have, and the UA-cam channel makes him money to keep him able to keep doing the feet for next to nothing, fine. Lack of training the animals is an owner issue, some of the methods of restraint are beyond old school.
noticed that, too .. but learned the farmers in Asia free-range the asses communally in the off-season, sometimes for many months without contact. the Master farrier is also acts as the vet. they round up the horses & asses + any new foals
I love how you're always so gentle and patient with the animals and you always do a great job with their feet, even if it may not end up perfect on an animal that's scared and has bad feet to begin with you really set them on the right track to recovery. Well done!
I think it's aw3some that you showed patience and a caring attitude with the donkey. I watch a Chinese farrier show and the donkeys are so abused there. It is horrible how they take care of them. So sad. So this was a blessing to see
Poor little guy to have been neglected by past owners. It seemed like he had a little sedation on board prior to showing up, which is good if he had in fact. Great job on his first experience with hoof care.
I'd say this donk has had mild sedation, even so doesn't seem remotely dangerous!! Farrier nice and quiet with him, no rushing, good experience for little chap, have to say watching the Asian farriers is brutal
It almost looks like they are using some kind of twitch. I'm not knocking it, as getting him to stand still well enough was obviously critical. And, for my money, infinitely better than going the chemical route, if possible.
Hi Eve! The donkey was given DormaGel by the owner, it is no secret that settling an unsure animal is safer for it and the people involved in handling a case like this!
@@danielabackstrom The donkey is far to be dangerous , trust me, it's my job in France and I can tell you that there's some much more rebel than this one !!! No agressivity for him , he just does'nt know at the time , now it's ok for the rest of the time .
Hello! Any animal can be dangerous, especially when they are in an uncomfortable position like this one! He was very ready to fight back, but with some patience he settled in nicely and let us help him get more comfortable!
The trim part was okay, but I didn't enjoy his big advertisement in the screen. Second, if you're going to advertise, show your best by re-pading the foot rest.
majic to watch a craftsman there's some videos around of a Chinese "master" who trims donkeys so brutal i stopped watching hats of to this guy and his ease of management

Oh my God, it broke my heart watching him walk in such discomfort. Good farriers are really a godsend. God bless you.
Thank you for petting him! Been watching the Chinese farriers and they are really mean!
me too. but that chinese fella does do a good job and makes them feel better. always feel sorry for them. poor things.
Dangerously cute. And now he knows Farriers aren't scary. Very impressive manner you have. And that rasp flick was awesome.

This donkey was far better behaved. The Chinese farrier is dealing with very nasty donkeys. Amazing job he does.

Wonderful how patient you are with the donkey. He must feel so much better
So glad he was rescued, hopefully he'll never have to go through another bout of laminitis again. Poor guy. You did such a great job handling him.

Ornery!...:)...That farrier was a real man...No gloves, pressed his will on that stubborn donkey...:)...Thanks for the upload!
Thank you maam! He was just a little naughty, nothing a little patience can't fix!
Donkey needed some love, good on you!

Oh that confidence! When you have it in yourself, you I still it in others. Especially others.
Woops! I meant to say animals. Lol.
You rock man thank you for all that you do for these animals
Thank you so much!
You gave him a very positive first trim which was very much needed
Thanks for being careful with the animals.

Quiet steady calm wins for both.
Good job! 👍☺
Thank you maam!
Just love watching 👀 your videos. Lynn75 in Missouri. Thanks😊😊
Thanks for watching!
quality job, he's gunno feel better for that.
Thank you sir! We sure hope he is feeling better as well!
Great job.
No way is he dangerous though.
Happy to get a trim.
Get one of those kicks in your face and you'd change yer mind!
No, he wasn't happy to get a trim. I say that because they don't think that way. The farrier handled him really well.
Looks like having a bit of acepromazin for the treatment. Good idea!
Will you do a video on how you sharpen your tools?
Hello!
There are videos on my page sharpening tools!
How had it never been trimmed before, was it a wild donkey? Either way, he seemed to be enjoying the treatment he was getting if you catch my drift.
Hello! It was a donkey rescued from an abusive situation where he had received no previous care!
Had to chuckle at how the hind leg was initially grabbed, given how Old Man Du does it in the various videos published out of China. 😂
Hello...im asking as I simply don't know...
But do donkeys ever get shoes like horses?
Hello!
Donkeys can get shod just like horses, it is just less common for them to require such support!
Молодец отличная работа, с китайцами не сравнить. Удачи в делах с россии.
Oh my goodness. He has such petite feet.
I like this video but no sound for most of the video I like to hear what you are saying about what's going on and what you're doing 😢
Man you’re tuff and brave
Nice work...handled him gently. He’ll be better behaved next time..and each time after that.
Thank you! We try to be very relaxed and easy with one that has a bad past!
That donkey is very obviously substantially sedated

What is dangerous here ?
Possibly getting kicked

It would be honest to disclose that the animal was drugged up, nothing wring with that if circumstances require it but be honest.
I don't think he's dishonest
I have seen those videos of the Chinese ferrias and they are 'jack ass'themselves the way they go about trimmings the hooves.
Where is the dangerous donkey

It wold be nice if you would drop off your logo so we could get the full picture of the donkey being shod.

let me tell you those are some smelly hooves
Sound quality was like the donkey do-do, it stunk!
