Your designs are so fun and unique .. A lot of crochet / knitting projects are a bit more old fashioned, nothing wrong with that but I'd like to eventually make things I can actually wear. Thank you for sharing what you make, it's very inspiration to a 31 year old like me
Love this the tutorial is so easy to follow and the design is amazing 😍 Would you be able to do a tutorial on a matching set of hand warmers, I think a set would be so cute 😆
Thank you! One day further and having a breakdown already, maybe my loop is too stiff but I totally lose the tension en forget when I have to turn and what row I need to knit :’D I feel that maybe I’m more of a beginner than this project, and that’s okay!
I loved this so much but I forgot to read the knit in the title 🤦♀️ I can only crochet. Well thanks for the tutorial I can’t make this yet so I’m going to find a tutorial that is for crocheting
I have a crochet tutorial for some leg warmers in my channel too c: and I’m actually currently working on another one that’s more similar to this one (but crochet) 💖
I was a total beginner and this was my first knitting project and thank you! You explained and showed everything so clearly and made it easier ^*^ But one question, how am i supposed to make it bigger? You called it flare i guess (sorry English isn't my first language)
i'm happy it made sense! the flare comes from the way you bind off the bottom part! I do this thing called a stretchy bind off near the end of the video that explains it!
Thank you so much for this tutorial 💘 I just knit one leg warmer last night and will start the second today. I’m new to knitting and have a question - why did you choose to use the magic loop in the beginning and then switch to the smaller cables later on? Would it still work to use the short cables for cast on/first rows?
yes! it would totally work starting with short cables! I personally like using the magic loop first bc my shortest cable (around 12" I believe) is still a bit too big to knit the first round (which is usually tight). the stitches generally loosen to their usual gauge in the second or third round tho which is when I switch to smaller cables c: i also just wanted to show the magic loop method in case some people only have a long cable~
I fell in love with these leg warmers the moment I saw them but I only have straight needles. I looked for circular needles in a lot of local shops but it seems they only sell straight needles here 😢 Is there a way for me to knit with straight needles? Maybe I can seam it up??? I really want to make this
Technically, you can make these with straight needles. However, the pattern will be different since you’re working flat instead of in the round ;w; do you have double pointed straight needles? If so, you can use 3 or 4 of them to knit on the round & there are lots of tutorials on yt teaching you how to do that~ otherwise, I recommend ordering circular needles online if that’s an option you have
is 36 cast ok for 5 mm yarn or should i go i already did 6 rounds so i'm debating if it would look bad if i don't ( i saw another comment that for thin yarn you should cast more) should i go for 40 cast if i restart?
yes, if you restart, I recommend casting on more--like 40 or 44 c: but if your leg warmer width works well for your leg (I recommend trying it on!), then you won't need to restart!
thank you! I personally don’t like the look of crochet cables ;w; but I do plan on designing a new set of crochet leg warmers~ if I do end up doing that, I’ll post the tutorial here c:
they're super beginner friendly so i feel like it would be a good first/second project c: I also have a tutorial for an easier pair of leg warmers too--it's also edited way better XD
thank you@ unfortunately, the pattern would be completely different with straight needles + you would have to seam the sides (which might mess up the repeat pattern). i would tbh recommend saving up to buy circular needles which imo will come in handy in the future too c: (not just for this project)
I'm making leg warmers while watching this video, but there's something I don't understand, so I'd like to ask you a question. Is it correct to do 2x2 5 times, then do 6 rounds once, then 2x2 5 times, then do 6 rounds once? Or do you do 5 rounds of 2×2 and then repeat 6 rounds all the time? I used a translator, so there may be some mistakes. And thank you for posting such a wonderful video!
I think you're asking if you do round 6 (where you have to make the cables once? if so, yes! you would do normal 2x2 for 5 rounds, then 1 round of round 6 and so on! I have the written pattern at the end of the video if that might help c:
unfortunately, you wouldn't! instructions for knitting flat vs knitting in the round are completely different for non double-sided projects like this one ;w;
yes that's the exact one i got! I highly recommend them c: (ps, idk if you know this but if you live in the USA, you can oftentimes get them like 40% off if you sign up for joann's coupon thingies by inputting an email!)@@ravetown5796
Poshmark!! I promise you there is probs something similar in your size on there (that’s also affordable!!) I’ve been a huge fan of vintage/secondhand shopping irl & online & bruh I have never found a better site to shop shoes
@@byredbean sorry, I get so dramatic when I'm frustrated 😂 I was so mad when I wrote this comment because I'd finally done my entire first piece only to realize I couldn't do the casting off!! I tend to work really tightly compared to everyone else I see, especially on UA-cam, so i ended up not having enough slack to hold my needles at an angle!! I ended up having to backtrack several rows and was careful to work slightly loose compared to the rest so it would help, which thankfully it did. One down, the other started tonight, so I guess I haven't quit. 😂 thank you for your kindness! 🖤 and for this adorable pattern. I'm doing medium grey with light teal laces and I'm excited to wear them..... but probably won't get to until next fall 😂

hi!! this is so so helpful -currently using the pattern- I was wondering how the flare was added at the end? do I need to increase or add stitches? thank you!!
hello! there's no increase of stitches actually! the flare is made by using a stretchy bind off that (kind of) adds an "extra" stitch in the middle of each binded off stitch. Kinda hard to understand but the video (towards the middle-end) should show the method!
sure! - needles (takumi clover interchangeable set): tinyurl.com/48y5tntb - green yarn: instagram.com/faerieyarns?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk= - don’t remember where white yarn is from but it’s probably drops! maybe drops flora? - rest of materials are your usual scissor/tapestry needles c:
