@@TR8o8 Me three ! This was one of the first videos on youtube I was addicted to watching, and 17 years alter I'm still addicted to it. Even with the couple of needle jumps, it's still almost peak Qbert.
Man this was one of the first videos I remember watching on UA-cam when it was relatively new and and many hadn’t heard of it. Lol it was back when I was in middle school showing all my friends this... now I’m 27 jesus times fucking flies.
This video inspired many turntablist around the world. This video still motivate me until this day. Got this through kazaa (P2P). It was a popular leech. Thank you DJ Q-Bert. Most DJ wanted to put a dash into their DJ name because of him. I'm included. Just two turntable and one mixer. That's the greatest era. Jedi without skipless battle records. Right now most turntablist become sampler. It's all just personal preference. It just a different era with different approach. I personally prefer the old way. ✊🏽
Ive had the pleasure of meeting and playing with him in a small bar just south of Houston st in Manhattan for an open DJ night back in the mid/late 90's. Maybe Stanton and Clinton intersections area. Cool guy, glad to see him always moving forward. A true pioneer of the times. Much respect! ✌&❤
This the video that set me off as a kid , late?2000 as a 9yr old and I knew I would become a tablist - fav part is when the vid feed cuts to black toward end and all u hear is the baby scratch over “makin me itch..”as the beat fades out. Badass
I started scratchin in 1998, I was 13, this set kicked my ass, now iam 33 and this set still one of the most incredible piece of turntablism i ve everseen, even when the niddle jump, the mistake sounds good.. Perfect rythms, tones, dynamics, WEAKED !!!!
SIK I've got a track on my phone by Q-Bert called get ready for alot of fun and excitiment, and I literally can't find it anywhere,, which is bloody good and bloody annoying also, but I've had it for at least 10 years, and had at least 8 smartphones in those years, so don't think I'll ever loose it,, Q-Bert is right up there with some of the best, 🎼🎼🎼🙏
Jesus is the Word. 8. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 9. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. ....
Its a switch that changes the orientation of the fader, so instead of the fader playing the left turntable when it is completely over to the left, it plays the right turntable, and vice versa. I have a pioneer djm600 mixer which doesn't have a hamster switch as such, but it has controls which allow you to assign which channel you want the fader to play when it is left or right - same kind of thing really.
I love Q Bert, Mix Master Mike, Z-Trip and Starscream. If you like this you should check out the documentary Scratch by Doug Pray. It has stuff on 3 of the 4 plus some. Such as Herbie Hancock. It’s one of the few documentaries I like.
Wow i remember DL these old vids of DJ Qbert after seeing him on one of those Toonami segments where they talk to real people about life and how to be the best you can be and such feels like it was so long ago (only 2004)
These were the days when you didn't have to be able to beat juggle to win... Now days everyone who wins the DMC has done it with a beat juggling set and I bet none of then can scratch to a level like this. BRING BACK THE DAYS OF QBERT & MIX MASTER MIKE!!!
***** its pretty much all hee haw brayks for the cuts and the sample is Superduckbreaks....the saga begins (side A)....two very essential vinyls to own. Easiest to order them online unless you have a good local source.
no there both backwards, but i think i figured it out, he scratches with his right hand and his left is controlling the fader so its probably easier to have it set up that way for the left hand.
the beat is off super duck breaks song number 8 called yo stop frontin. you gotta go online to order it most likely. i got both super duck breaks and super duper duck breaks on one cd for like $15 they got the vinyl too! google it
Anyone know where I can find this sample of "making me itch" the CLEAN version (not the buffalo gals)? I've been looking everywhere! Also, what's the name of the beat please?
It's probably a scratch sample record. djs use these records that come with either a bunch of snippets of sounds and voices, or just simple beat loops. these are either used for scratching, mixing, re-mixing, or battles. search DJ babu super duck breaks to see what im talking bout. peace
@Calvinios he scratches right handed. for the crab scratches he would normally have to hold his thumb on the leftmost side of the fader to keep the beat playing on the left, but that would require another right hand (think about it). so he switches the directions of the fader
ok I've been learning to sratch for a couple months now on my Xone:22 mixer.. my cuts don't sound that good no matter how fast i move the fader... can someone tell me if qbert has done any mods to his crossfader for an instant cut? Or is that the vestax mixer that is so good?
Still watching this in 2024 🔥🙌🏼
Q's got that 26 yr itch n' it ain't goin' away anytime soon! ;)

2021 I’m still watching this shit. This videos 14 years old surviving 2 recessions 😂
I saw this before UA-cam. It’s from 1998. Really illustrates how “good” UA-cam can be. Kinda like nuclear power. It’s great until it’s not. 😂😂
What the true DJ/scratching culture was about, none of that digital horseshit they use nowdays. This takes true skill
1:05 needle jumps the groove, he recovers and makes it sound fly. that's a professional
Q is the world's greatest DJ. The greatest.
this one of my all time favorite video. ive been looking for this rooster t-shirt forever
I’m back to listen this masterpiece… yeahh sew you agains next time…😅
One of the best examples of turntablism on the plane,t truly amazing, @ 1:27 how he cuts through that snare is ridiculous.

Easily one of the best of all time. Qbert is a legend. This set was legendary. 22 years of my jaw dropping every time.

scratch technique has come a long way since 1997, but in my opinion this is his best performance. Then there was magic
Probably one of the best scratch routines of all time!!!.
The beat is "Back To The Old School Break" from Babu's "Super Duck Breaks ...The Saga Begins".

Q-bert is just beyond amazing. Never fails to make me watch in awe. Respect for the upload and to the Master of the cut.
