  • I hope this video helps clarify the importance of knowing what and when you should or not use the “Emergency Towing Eyelet’s “ and or “Tie Down Hooks”.
    For more information on these “Emergency Towing Eyelet’s “ consulte your owners manual Page 405.
    For proper recovery when off-roading, your Toyota 4Runner needs to have aftermarket recovery points installed.

    Thnx for sharing about the “not a recovery” point because I never knew it either since I’ve never bothered to pay attention to the attached structure lol. Now I’m lookin for some recovery points to add for the front and most def a front winch plate or something

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  Рік тому +2

      Absolutely, same here! A nice front winch plate is in order if I ever plan on taking it on some sweet trails.
      I wanted to inform everyone because it’s Important to be safe out there.

      I have the Apex Overland recovery points on mine. They're pretty beefy, they bolt to the frame rail and the front crossmember in a few locations. They were an easy install, and I think well worth the money.

    You have become my go to guy, I had no idea that the "tie downs" were not recovery points. I too have shackles hanging off mine too and I probably would have used them if I hadn't found your informative videos. Last night I purchased the brutal apex overland "true" recovery brackets and am looking forward to seeing how cool they will look on my runner.
    As far as your bumper goes and the body lines, I found that issue on a used runner I was going to buy and that was a deal killer because I thought it was in an accident. My 2021 in perfect condition from the factory kind of has a crappy body line there too.

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  Рік тому

      Yeah, they all kind of fit funny in that section. I appreciate you!! 🙏🏻
      Let me know how you like the recovery brackets.

      To replace puddle lights on a 5th Gen 4Runner check out the Fast Lane Car Care Channel. He has a cool video on how to upgrade your side mirror puddle lights to LED without having to remove the mirrors. I did this to my 2015 Limited and it went great. Watch carefully where he presses and pulls the painted plastic cover as that is key!

      You probably have to remove that light assembly to replace it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @zenofthemoment
      @zenofthemoment Рік тому +2

      @@traviscade3186 based on what I saw, it required rewiring the light. The glove box light is soldered directly to the bulb with teeny wires that don't have extra length to play with. That's why I just left my glove box light alone. I'm not afraid of a little wiring/soldering, but it was just a ridiculous amount of effort for little reward.

    The real issue here is the decorative lighting you installed known as "Raptor Lights." Why on earth would you want to make your truck even remotely resemble a Ford??? :))

    Their definitely not for recovery, but for the price it a good way to add some “ off road swag “ to your 4Runner for a small price and a couple of nuts and bolts!

    At 1:54 You mentioned about "ripping radiator frame"... aren't all the winches mounted to those three/four holes right above the lower radiator frame? Doesn't that make lower radiator frame vulnerable when winching?

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  Рік тому

      Those tie down loops are mounted within the radiator support, not smart to recover from those 2 points.

    I went to replace my fog lights with LED bulbs but mine have an aluminum shroud around it which makes it almost impossible to change out without pulling the bumper. I tried just pulling back the black wheel well cover but couldn’t get it. I have a 2016 ltd. I’m seeing your fog lights look different.

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  Рік тому

      My fog lights are the new OEM LED fog light assemblies.(highly recommended)
      Part # PT413-42191 direct fit, bumper does have to come off to replace them. 👍🏻
