    I would imagine if you're already zip tied, you're in trouble. As someone who was nearly strangled to death at 17 yrs old, and only survived because the man with him grew a conscience, my advice is to do everything you can before you get captured. Once they have you tied up, and take you to another location, you're as good as dead. Fight like your life depends on it beforehand - because it does. Do everything in your power to escape before, not after, the abduction.

    • @TheVideoLounge
      @TheVideoLounge Рік тому +41

      I've often thought that if someone is holding a gun in order to abduct you, it must be better to take the chance on being shot there and then than taken away, as it seems unlikely that many would actually shoot as they could then be caught for murder, but I guess fear takes over and the immediate threat must seem worse at the time.

      There is hope, and then there is false hope and delusion. Another example is the 'martial artists' who show how to defend against straight-lunge knife attacks that never happen outside a dojo. It would suck to realise the wrong way that the zip ties are of the steel reinforced type. In construction we had some that looked exactly like the plastic ones, but they even had a plastic covered steel noose and plastic covered steel "tongue" for closing these. Would you try this trick with them, chances are your hands fall to the ground instead of the ties. But a former CIA operative certainly can identify these before...even if experienced construction workers had their problems with these...

      Definitely looks weird, but I slowed it to 0.25 speed and stutter-paused it through a few times, you can't see the tie on the way up or down, maybe it's so thin it's lost in the blur of movement or something, but at 3:36 (and 3:39 in the slow-mo) you can see the the tie across the top side/back of his right wrist and it swings out and flicks away in the next few paused frames, though it still looks dodgy somehow, I don't know

  • @ladamyre1

    Here's and easier way with no risk of damage to your hands or wrists. Take your shoestrings off, or take any string 2 feet long, make a loop at each end and slip the string through the zip tie, put the loops over each foot and saw the string back and forth across the zip tie fast enough to melt the plastic and cut through the zip tie.

    I can fold my hand in half and basically dislocate my two middle hand bones due to extremely flexible tendons. I can make my entire hand smaller than my wrist. I cant be cuffed or zip tied, or any other restraint method that relies on hands being bigger than wrists.
    Duct tape sort of works, but I can still get out of it given enough time if I start sweating.

  • @WyndStryke

    I have only used zip ties for their intended purpose! However I would have guessed that you'd use two zip ties, one for each wrist (& crossed over in the middle), rather than a single tie. Is there a reason that isn't done?
    (Also, behind the back ... )
    Normally when I want to open a zip tie, I put something between the teeth and the tongue, and it just slides open so I can reuse it. Probably difficult to do on yourself though, if your arms are behind your back.
