Hello Brad Steele. I know it has been one year since you reacted to this Home Free video. The biggest thing that stands out for me that most people do not mention is that THERE IS NO BEATBOXING in this whole video! Adam Rupp IS ACTUALLY SINGING in this one! :) Very moving tribute song to those who have sacrificed for our freedom.
You are the ONLY reactor that picked up on the "We have just on world, but we live in different ones"....... That is the MOST POWERRUL statement yet no reactors seemed to pick up on it! LOVE YA BRO!
The last line of the song sums up the overall meaning. "We are fools to make war on our brothers in arms". So fighting in a war is fighting your fellow humans. Fix it some other way than killing each other. In todays times we are fighting amongst ourselves. Again, stop fighting each other. Be respectful and tolerant and try to accept one another. 'We are fools to make war'. Great reaction Brad
Home Free did this song Beautifully, Brilliantly,Hauntingly, Amazingly Wonderful.... There is not one thing that these boys cannot sing... Their Voices are so Angelic and Gorgeous.. They get the point across everytime...
I think you missed it, Brad. "We're forced to do battle with our brothers in arms" isn't about fighting our own men; it's about fighting other soldiers in other armies. The lyric recognizes that while they may be from different countries, soldiers on opposing sides are also "brothers in arms", no less honorable, no less courageous, their sacrifices no less painful.
@Tim Vanderburg I definitely agree that our service members deserve our full respect and honor. But what I think the message was that "brothers in arms," however you define that, should not fight each other. And although the song was written in response to the Falklands War, I agree with @Brad Steele that the analogy can be broadened to include other situations where we fight with words rather than ammunition.
The song was written in 1982 by Mark Knopfler, as a comment on the Falklands War. It was first recorded by Dire Straits in 1985 on their album of the same name.
Love this song, the 5 part harmonies are absolutely awesome. Tim and Chance are brilliant, and the background harmony comes in. Their clear pronouceation of each word, is great.
I think Mark Knophler had a broader context for the last line of this classic Dire Straits song. He wrote this in response to the Falklands War. He was speaking about all the combatants on both sides from the point of view of the dead soldiers. We are fools to make war on our fellow humans. As a former army officer I concur. As a follower of Jesus of Nazareth I refer you to the Gospel. I accept that there is a reason to defend your people, but these wars we have had since WWII were only defense in a vague geopolitical sense, and most were for economic advantage. We were not defending. We were punishing or pushing a cultural advantage. The original clouded lyrics with instrumentals and production. Home Free produced a beautiful, in your face, version. It honors the fallen dead while it questions the purpose of their deaths. It honors the brotherhood and sisterhood of those who served, while it issues a FU to those who cravenly sent them.
This is stunning. Loved Tim’s low notes. Loved the echoes. Loved the black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. Great reaction Brad!
I believe that was intentional. If you watch, the windows go through all their ghostly figures. Also when Chance sings about not being left behind, his silhouette is that of the POW/MIA flag.
Such an eerie reverence with this song....I can't even explain how it makes me feel. Tim was amazing as usual, but the background vocals were ridiculously haunting! Loved this!🥰
Been waiting for you Brad to review this.....omg. The vocal arrangement and the visual of the video are both amazing. Whoever did the vocal arrangement and did the video of this needs a big shot out. They did more than justice to the Dire Straights 1985 hit.
The arrangement is by Finnish vocal group Club For Five - here's a video of them performing it in 2009: ua-cam.com/video/Gerr99h0nS8/v-deo.html Tim Foust reached out to Tuukka Haapaniemi (CFF's low bass), who then sent him the arrangement.
This is a very emotional song. The harmonies are absolutely perfect on point. Tim's and Chance's voices are so phenomenal! The song has lost none of its relevance, on the contrary, the message is more relevant than ever. HF did a damn good job. Wow 💥.

Absolutely love this song, one of my all time favourite songs by Dire Straits it gets to me and very relevant with the memorial coming up great reaction 👍👍
Thank you for the reaction, Brad. This song is a tear jerker for me, every time. Tim and Chance do so well with their singing and Adam, Rob and Austin are so good with keeping the background solid. Thanks
This song was made by the Brittish band Dire Straits, about the Falkland war in the mid- 80ies. Listen to the original, it's beautiful. Home Free has outdone themselfes, this is the best they ever done

Politicians declare wars but it's the members of the military who are sent to the battlefields. I don't think any amount of compensation could ever be enough.
What a beautiful song! It's so good to listen to them singing with those harmonies, and the deep Tim's voice touched my heart, amazing!. Dire Straits must be so proud of their cover, it's a really great job. Thanks for your react.
