The infinite barb experience is in my opinion the best, had a fully promoted scout by classical era, even made him a ranger army by the end of the game ❤
Beating up barbarians, forcibly extracting tribute from them, using that money to buy mercenaries from other barbarians and then attacking your neighbors with them? Whatever could you mean?
£484 - Caesar is a title of imperial character. It derives from the cognomen of Julius Caesar, a Roman dictator. The change from being a familial name to a title adopted by the Roman emperors can be traced to AD 68, following the rise of the University of Sankore.
There it is as promised! I went with the sameplan but on standard speed and without the barb mod. I ended up with 3 barb camps a farming groundsdid kind of a legion rush to my lovely neighbour Hammurabi and decided to just take 3 of his cities. Biggest mistake ever possible, but I didn't think of it till I realised at around turn 90 that Babylon had already unlocked line infantry. So my Men at Arms now were confronted with a tiny barbarian problem. Took me till about turn 130 to get the situation under control, meanwhile the Maya in the south and Georgia in the north had turtled and in case of Maya also outteched me. I decided to stop at this point because it wasn't going to be the fun ride I had in mind when I started the game and would instead been a pain in the butt.
@@UrsaRyan it is. I love it. Even as enemy I don't mind. But with the barb camps spawning line infantry Babylon kind of ruined my gameplan. So for the next go with new Caesar I'm afraid poor little Hammurabi will have to sit out.
So excited about this upload. I've read patch notes and probably thought the same thing. Hoooly, these are some big buffs for Caesar. Can't wait to try it out myself. Keep up the great work, Ursa! :)
Especially if you also add the rampant barbarian mod too. AI on swordsman tech, barbs everywhere spawning line infantry and machine guns. Good luck holding onto a city!
Ursa, when you finish trying out these updated leaders, there’s a very powerful strategy that I accidentally stumbled upon and have used to great success in 2 of my games. Play Empire Vicky. You can also do it with any of the other English leaders, or even Phoenicia, but it won’t be as effective. This strategy revolves around 3 early game great admirals: the one that makes a fleet and 2 that give promotions. You probably won’t have a problem getting them, since the ai usually doesn’t go hard on admirals early game. Rush harbors and get 3-4 cities, all with Royal navy dockyards. Get Great Lighthouse if you can, and at least one quadreriemme (I may have misspelled that) and use all 3 of the aforementioned great admirals on it. Keep one around to buff it, probably Hanno. Suddenly, you have a 57 (67 if you can get crusade) strength wall wrecking machine. Use it and a few galleys to conquer a neighbor or 2. From there, you can continue along the path of domination, getting caravels, frigates, ironclads, and battleships and conquering everyone, or just use the extra cities you got to pivot to another victory type.
@@traviswilliams3034dromons also have +10 against units and then the +13 from taxis and crusade, which byzantium already wants and has an easier time spreading. Even without a fleet its 52 cs with 2 range with any great general
@@traviswilliams3034 The problem with using that admiral is that it won't have the +1 movement from the dockyard. And movement is the most important thing for such a powerful unit.
Ursa had so much of a blast playing caesar not too long ago that he is eager to give him another go. Using the gold to take more cities. How very Roman.
I wanted to test my Witcher set of mods with the Take Your Time mod and see how it feels, so that the eras from ancient to medieval don't fly by too fast. If that's a good working combo then I may also make an even bigger version of the Continent map, since the current one is a bit tight for some players' taste.
Gave this a go on standard speed without the insane barb camp mod and he's still hilariously broken. As long as you can hold down 3 barb camps through the ancient era you become unstoppable. I find that 2 archers + 1 warrior per camp works pretty well, with the experience you get plus the combat strength buff towards barbarians, even when the camps start putting out men at arms you're still able to knock them down with the archers and get the warrior on the camp.
Yea if you can get barb camps its really good. Effectively 30 gold per turn per barb camp, with the only expensive being the warriors that need to be there, which is preety small.
With my Kongo game almost done, i think i might just have to try out a Caesar game. I don't do Domination games very often, but the buffs to him look fun.
Having Persia AND Gaul as your closest neighbours as Ceasar and Rome? Couldnt have asked for better for some alt-history sheningans, if I do say so myself.
I'd always thought the yellow tasty thingy on a cob was called corn. I never knew it was called maize. I guess I've learned the wrong kind of English as a foreign language 😅 This game taught me proper English. Lol.
I've played Civ before and I have won with all the originals and now I have the DLC can someone please tell me who is good to play it really does not matter my style of play. There are SO MANY options please help me out.
You want an op civ or a fun one? Best combinarion imo is byzantium (the original one, not the leader pass one). Babylon can also be preety op, but missing strategics is a huge pain with them. Gaul on a highlands map. Any civ on a wetlands map and go for etemenaki and the marsh pantheon. There is also the ethiopia cheese with greath bath and soothsayer spam with the apocalypse mode.
Annoying that the longer eras doesn't result in more gold with raiding barb camps, its down a third gold/turn from marathon. I suppose not having the slower build times, which the extra gold offsets, keeps this a bit more balanced.
Exactly - if anything this hinders me because the AI can build troops much faster. Marathon triples teh gold but also the cost, so it just looks funnier!
I think we're safe. If Babylon were in the game they could've easily gotten the eureka for bronze working (kill 3 barbarians) and then military tactics (kill a unit with a spearman) by now, in which case those barbarian outposts would be spawning pikemen instead of spearmen. Rushing archers and crossbowmen is similarly easy for them to do. Although it's possible that they just haven't gotten the kills with the right units yet, so this isn't a certainty.
The romans did historically owned a large barbarian legions of mercenaries, so this is quite accurate
Yeah, Ursa's subjugated the barbarian clans to the north and has implemented them as auxiliary cavalry
Is like playing Rome 2 all over again! 😄
It's like a history lesson!
The unlimited XP from barbs is insane for longer pace games because it's so easy to get to maxed out units.
It was such fun to see the barbs grind my units up!
I actually like this over all the play with 0 promotion or 1 promotion units at fast speeds.
The infinite barb experience is in my opinion the best, had a fully promoted scout by classical era, even made him a ranger army by the end of the game ❤
Ceaser as AI: Why aren't you killing barbarian outposts?!
Ceaser as Player: Why would you kill an outpost?
Ah the duality of Caesar
Huzzah!!! We are here to save Ursa from the Giant Crabs
Huzzah! Down with crabs!
Honestly this feels very Roman. Much more than his old ability.

I really like this marathon speed with the fast production. More please!
Very excited for this one. I actually just finished watching last years Trajan TSL 50 Civ series; so getting to compare Romes will be quite fun!
