What another thing to appreciate is that there aren’t many or really, any California harbor fishing UA-cam channels let alone a spottie fishing channel. So cool Dan. Glad I decided to give you a watch. Very good content sir. Makes me want to get myself a damn go pro set up lol.
Dan: Regarding the issue of spotties “swallowing” the HUBs, yes, it happens to me too. I squeeze the barbs on nearly all of my hooks. Sometimes it helps when it comes time to release, but I DO lose some fish from time to time...
I Used to rent the kayak there and realised that if I waited and saved the money I was going to spend on the rentals I could save up and get my first kayak pretty quickly and in the end was totally worth it. I now have two kayaks. One 10' lifetime. Tamarack ( first kayak $300) second kayak is a peddle drive ,lil more expensive (1500). Realised I needed a bigger kayak when I new I was going to be doing this for awhile. HOOKED!
I want to rent one for the first time and was wondering if you could give me info how/where to fish in that area ? If there is anyways you could help me out that would be greatly appreciated . Thanks , love the vids
thedanny4l definitely the far northern end of the harbor known as Anaheim Bay. This is the area with the large bridge that connnects Sunset Beach to Seal Beach. It is also the same bridge where boats exit Huntington Harbour and divides the civilian side from the military side. Kayaks are not allowed on the military side of the bridge. Make sure you rent on a day when there is a really strong incoming or outgoing tide. The ideal scenario is early morning on a tide where the harbor is rapidly draining (outgoing)! Just do a big circle out at Anaheim Bay along the marsh lands and keep casting and moving! It will take about 20 to 25 minutes to reach Anaheim Bay by kayak once you leave OEX!🎣😃
BlackguppyRAW it’s funny you mentioned that! I noticed a bunch of really big, earth moving equipment on site and in position! So it looks like they getting ready to start working on the channel! I don’t use my fish finder in the harbor very often. When I do turn it on it’s just to check the water temperature.
Dan that was an impressive string of Spotties, especially “Toadzilla”! If I only could pull out a bag of Spotties that nice at the SD Bay Anglers tourney this weekend I would be in the $$$ Great job!
Holy moly, that’s some quality fish today. Great job Dan. Hey fellow subscribers, let’s tell our friends to subscribe to Dan’s channel and get him to 1000 subscribers. Keep the awesome videos coming Dan!
Kodakgee initially I used a hat mounted GoPro, but it drove me crazy. I have an over the shoulder camera, but for some reason, I didn’t use any of those clips in this video. I definitely need to experiment more that’s for sure!🎣😃
Water out there is so beautiful
Great vid, see ya out there!

Mark G that’s probably a really good idea... there’s nothing worse than releasing a fish and wondering if it’s going to survive!🎣😃
Fishing is a sport second to none.
Man what a session dan! Not only were they biting, they were all good quality! Great job out there, I can’t wait to experience that with you!

On FIRE! Do you use your fishing finder to target these spotties? Any updates on the channel to the open water?
