SUMMARY OF THE ABOVE VIDEO One main bit you should take away from this video is that no one size fits all. Find what works best for you. General tips you want to consider when studying: - Engage with your study in an active way by asking questions, making a summary of what you read, etc - There is no need to convert your notes into pleasantly visible material. It's not going to make a difference in the effectiveness of your study. - Have always a plan before approaching anything (reading, writing an essay) in your studies. This will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed by not knowing where you're going and what to prioritize. -Don't try to use all the techniques you come across from the different videos that you've perhaps heard about in other UA-cam videos. Instead, be selective and try to apply your chosen techniques with consistency. - Make sure you understand the content you're dealing with versus merely memorising it. Hope you find this helpful. x
This is gold! Every time a popular or glamourised technique didn’t work, I thought something was wrong on my end, it’s refreshing to hear ‘it’s okay’ and ‘do what works for you’.
I agree making drawings and pretty notes is a bit silly if you're pressed for time but I actually really appreciate it IF YOU DO HAVE THE TIME. Particularly I learn so much if I redraw a key plot by hand and add my own notes and color coding. I don't need pretty hand writing but having things color coded has made my notes more useful if I need to refer to them later. I'm first of all really visual so I learn a lot by doing that and second can then see a clear depiction of a concept when years later it is foggy. I've referred to a few neat, colored plots and tables I made in my notes over and over.
so useful!! i often feel really overwhelmed by other people's '8 hour study with me' or fancy study set ups, thanks for reminding me that's all just social media faff!!
Needed to hear this as I get to the finals.its 2020 and study from home is even worse. Much appreciated. It's just broke down how to handle procrastination in school. Lol🙏🏿
thank you so much for sharing this information with us, We hope all is well we just want to say sorry that we have not been in contact with you for a while but we were stuck in Malta and now we are playing catch up . Stay safe my friend Love and Light Sarah and Glenn
Salam Dr Amina (yes I feel the need to use the title because I feel like you’re my lecturer at this point) I’ve been using your tips and tricks, yes even the PhD ones that you made a video of, on how to be a good student etc but cherry picking them to apply to my undergraduate level. When you mentioned not applying all the techniques at the same time, I wonder: could you do a specific video on tips& tricks for an undergraduate? Things you did on your own, maybe something your students does etc?
Ah, it's a hard one - I always compare myself to other too. Just remember that we're all on our own personal journeys and that there is room for all of us to succeed
Hey Amina, a bit of a random question, but what’s your opinion on doing multiple PhDs (at the same time)? Would you say it’s feasible to be undertaking two science PhDs at the same time at two different universities?
Hi amena, are you harari? I was thinking that you are somalia the i have watched a lot videos about i thought you are from afar lol I'm Somali, so how may people asked you that you are Somali it's funny i saw you while i was just searching videos about how to read efficiently and take notes to make some research you motivated me😍🥰.
Hi Amina, I mentioned this before I dont think you’ve seen it :) I would love to know your baby journey. Ive been married for 15months now and trying. Just interested in your journey and if it was hard/easy. 👈👈👈👈👈👈👈 may allah make it easy for all of us who are trying! Ameen! X

Thank you Dr Yonis. As a mature student I appreciate all your videos as I find them of great assistance.
Aesthetic studying reallyyyy eats up your time for REAL. It’s so hard not to, but it’s really not efficient.
