I did all this on one of my ranges and when it happened to another I just sprayed WD 40 into the switch box after pulling off the knob and just moved it on and off a bit to clean the contact. Good as new. I would have preferred to use a electric contact cleaner or tv tuner cleaner but did not have it at the time. This happens when people spray fantastic and water on the knobs to clean them and the solution carries dirt and grime back into the switches.
@@giam9990 there are 4 or 5 white boxes in wire harness. . Each is right behind each knob. Just pull the knob off and you will see it partially. Just spray in and around in there. Wait for the WD-40 to penetrate and the excess to drip off. It should work unless there is physical damage to the switch.
It gave me enough info to decide to pay a repair technician. It would be helpful to know the brand and talk us through the steps to take apart the stove and repair it. Agree that a tripod would have been beneficial.
Have your husband fix it. I'm being facetious, I know you don't have a husband due to ur dirty smart Alec response. Modern day women are too masculine and standoffishey.
I had the same problem. Before taking everything apart, just take off the knob and push on the connector behind the knob with a screwdriver on both sides of the knob pin. This took care of my problem; I did not need a new part.
I saved $50 +++ by popping open the faulty switch, cleaning it and giving the metal tab a slight bend to improve contact. Good as new. Those $50 harnesses must cost all of 4 dollars to manufacture. What a scam! It pays to have the curiosity to take things apart and see how they work.
Thank-you!!! Saw this just before was going to order parts (because I have a tenant that I didn't want to inconvenience by taking it apart before having everything I might need ready). I just removed the knob from the offending burner and sure enough the white square behind it was wiggley -- i used two screwdrivers to apply equal pressure to the plate on either side of the 'knob pin' and it clearly 'clicked' right back into place---- WALAH!!!
You just saved me time an money. Mine stopped working for the last few days. Saw your comment and just tried it. What do you know it’s working again. Thanks
Take a look near each porcelain igniter. Even though you are engaging one specific burner, the clicking is sparking an opposite burner. You might see this by looking at each igniter while you hear the clicking sound. Try turning on the burner that is next to the burner that won’t light. While the fire is on that one, try igniting the other burner. This sometime helps me when my stove is acting up. Just don’t leave the burners on without anything blocking the heat from reaching your cabinets or microwave.
It would have been a great video if you didn't wear your camera. As much detail as you tried to capture , it was a little difficult to follow due to the movement of the camera.
If it were me doing this, I would just blow up my kitchen proactively at the beginning of the video, save myself all that installation work, as that would be my result anyways.....
He showed us that he knows how to fix the ignition but didn’t narrate a word of procedure. That’s as if Einstein wrote E=mc2 (couldn’t find how to type the small “2”) on the chalkboard and then walked out of the classroom. Probably the worst training class that I have ever viewed in 72 years.

Sprayed contact cleaner... Worked Perfectly.
So glad I read this reply. Sprayed deoxit contact cleaner and worked like a charm. Thank you for posting.
This worked! No new part needed.
Where is the switch box?

What PART did you buy????

@@ioodyssey3740 hey. I could use some help. So do I take apart the stove up until the 2:49 mark in the video then try and do what u did?

Yep. Same here. Thanks for the heads up! 😁

Can we get a part number for the sparking igniter that are switch
Holy disassembly montage. Screw this, I’ll keep using a long lighter.
I think you can spray contact cleaner into the switches to clean them and only pull off the knobs.
Which part did you need to fix? I may have missed that part! We have 3/4 burners that won’t click or spark. Thanks!
I got it on Amazon for about $50. Frigidaire 316580615 Spark Ignition Switch Unit
@@First_Class_Amateur Thank you!
I have a Samsung Range and the spark ignition switch has three wires, black red and blue, how can I test it to be able to know that it is working.
I learned my lesson. Never buy a Fridgedair or Kenmore stove. Most videos show either one of them.
Imagine going through all of that and it still didn't light.... Nice work though, sir!
would this be the issue if the knob clicks on other burners but not specifically the one its linked to?
Yes. That’s happened to me too.
If it doesn't click, Try turning the gas on for the burner that doesn't light, then a separate burner that does click. Mine pops right off.
Was hoping for a quick fix like cleaning a igniter head with a Qtip. I’m not a stove assembly texhnician
How long did the repair take?
About 30 minutes.
thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. looks like i have a project ahead of me
Pull the knobs and spray contact cleaner through the opening on the shaft. 5 second fix!
This video looks like it was directed by the guy that did the Jason Borne movies.
What if it clicks but doesn’t light

no diagnosis, no explanation, lots of unnecessary footage. what part was it?
thanks for this
Doesn't apply to pilot light stoves...

What a pain to access.

what’s the part name
J.R. Ordonez spark ignition switch
I bet you wanted to kick the engineer that designed that in the balls. What is the make and model of the stove. I will make sure not to purchase it.
His camera work makes me dizzy. Can't finish watching it.
uhh yea i’m buying a box of matches for that one burner. no thanks on that much effort
Oh.. No .-. I'll just call the landlord..
There is a reason why in Los Angeles landlords do not fix the stoves. They will tell you to live with it and hand you a long lighter. 🤣
bad camera, too much movement
Oh I had to stop watching, it made me feel really dizzy.
Exactly! Not good for those of us easily susceptible to motion sickness.
Yeah, I'll just use a lighter
