  • In this episode, I am excited to have Dr. Phil Parker, creator of The Lightning Process. The Lightning Process is a training programme that teaches people about the way the nervous system control the body, and empowers people with tools that involve gentle movement, meditation-like techniques and mental exercises, with the aim of teaching people how to switch on pathways to promote health and switch off the ones that are not serving you.
In this episode, Phil and I discuss how the Lightning process started and developed, and what it is and what it involves, and practical ways you can incorporate the Lightning Process into your daily life. We also discuss the mind-body connection, and the importance of believing that recovery IS possible, and exposing yourself to positive recovery stories so that this becomes your inner conversation. We also cover the obstacles that could stand in people's way to recovery, perfectionism and how your inner critic can contribute to keeping you sick.

My husband did the LP nine years ago after 23 years of ME/CFS he never looked back and has been well since.
    Please don’t dismiss it.

That’s so great to hear! Did he have any relapses? I’m currently dealing with Long Covid.

@@XXO-Rosie no he didn’t. He just kept using the LP until all symptoms gone. He also had Fibro and POTS.
LP is helping people with Long Covid. It might be worth researching on the LP website some stories there.

the nhs classed this as unhelpful for ME people, I have ME but it hasnt help me that much, its just too damn hard to keep doing it, i learned how to do it 12 yrs ago..... If i could do LP all day maybe wouldnt have ME....its a contradiction imo

@@StuWright So you took the course and it didn't work for you then? I looked into the cost and it's extremely expensive. Around $1,000 UK, which is a fair bit higher Canadian. I can't afford that for it not to work.

Great interview! I'm a success story on Phil's website, fantastic program. I've also been to a Dr Joe retreat like you! 😝 All the best to you and your journey.

I was apprehensive @ Brain retraining. However tried everything first. Even a 21 day water fast. Huge improvements there and finally now doing brain retraining. I do feel like it’s the missing key. It’s so awkward to do at first but once you embrace it and believe it’s a Game Changer. Stepped back into the gym today. 1st day in a year 🎉

OK . I never got a 5 hour audio before I did it ? And, althoughi had 2 very brief calls afterwards, I did not receive adequate follow up. The person who taught me was a nice person, and a very experienced coach. However, they had their heads in all sorts of other modalities, and I felt their heart was no longer in it. Indeed, they left LP not long afterwards. And I could not afford a refresher course as I had spent all my savings ( 1800 pounds for a one on one home visit) i must say, phil does sincere the best of all time.

I’m in the middle camp with you Phil! I’ve definitely had some huge progress and wins over the last year but as much as I fully believe the process it’s been hard to apply fully. I feel like you, the days I have little wins my brain is so encouraged! I initially used visualization but it became more or a chore/stress so now I just try to correct my thinking throughout the day and do alot of incremental training and try to elevate my mood. They always say not to compare your journey so I’m just gonna go with that!

I did the LP 16 years ago, and neither I nor the other 2 people on my course recovered. I think for some of us there is underlying nervous system/trauma work that needs to be done in order to heal.

Thank you 🙏 this looks really interesting! I’m in remission from ulcerative colitis by using the carnivore diet and the work of Byron Katie but still have a few lingering issues that can be improved! Xxx

I remember Gupta going into detail about being the "first" program on his episode. The date Phil references far predates that timeframe so its interesting there seems to be some discrepancy there

Gupta is the first self help educational program that you watch in your own time and pace. LP is the OG of this type of work butbis delivered live during a 3 consecutive days by a practitioner directly to you. Yes...is around 25 years from LP. Reverse therapy and Mikel therapy are from the 90s and are as well, individual working with a practitioner. There are different concepts.

My opinion that these programs don’t get to root cause. Symptom management at best and later on down the line people get hit with a different illness..
