I would say don't use 40 grit cuz it's way to corse and will leave deep scratches in the metal. I always use a 120 grit for the paint removal and then 220 to smooth everything out. that's what I have found to be the best for bmx parts I have done several frames and forks this way. cool video BTW good editing and good shots dude
Noooooooooo 400-500 or more is the only way… takes longer but trust me your top cost will look beautiful. More microscopic scratches not visible to the human eye means more places for the paint to stick into. This is why you only use zinc rich primer on bikes after sanding or most people do… it dries and settles very slowly and thick to where it basically self etches into those small scratches that you can’t see causing your paint to stick better into whatever you paint. Something like forms this is very important if you want a professional job you also want to polish after. White primer for red paint. Gloss. Cheat codes
Dude i subed, you really seem to know what your talking about and i pick up my first bike in a few days and i gotta paint it so thanks dude :] have a good one ay
when using a paint stripper and its ready to remove use bucket or tub of hot soapy water and a steelo pad and it will come off easy .. dont use a bbq scaper also dont use 40 grade sand paper on a bike frame anyway cool vid
if you can't reply please help me I did my bars my S&M perfect bars the paint came off I had the animal Forks I'm using paint stripper if for some reason it's not coming off I'm using paint stripper the same one that you use you got to do on a nice day when it's warm right
Cody Bmx sometimes with factory paint it is really thick and can take 3 or more times. Make sure you leave it on for about 10-15 minutes before trying to scrape the paint off.
Yes, as long as it is only surface rust. But if the rust has left damage to the metal then you can use filler to get it back to a full and smooth surface!
N0AH DA GREAT nope. I wanted to buy a new bike if i learnt how to 360 by the end of this month.. ( just to check how motivated i am to continue bmx.. I learnt it tap).. i guess ill be getting a new bike .. So i prefer not to invest on my mongoose L60..
N0AH DA GREAT umm.. My friend did that to his mountain bike.. And if your frame does not have rust or too many scratches, it will turn out good.. His turned out kinda good .. Except for the spots where he had taken off some rust .. It looks uneven there.
Ricky from TeamSETH hang them from something and put the rope or string or whatever your gonna use to hold it go through the headset or bottom bracket.
dont follow this video, wrong procedure, after removing paint sand it with fine sand paper and then apply 2 coats of "primer for alloy" in 2 hrs gap..which is easily available, again slightly sand the frame and then aplly 2 coats of color 24 hrs gap in both, and then apply clear coat on it easily available after 24 hrs of paint
Every one who sands there bmx parts for the first time always want to go raw with clear coat it’s so annoying just fucking paint it it looks dumb raw if you don’t know what your doing

dupli spray paint is the best paint to buy if you want to spray paint your BMX
you can spray it off with power washing at car wash
Next time you can use a water hose to get the stripped paint off of the frame
