Do you need a special tool to get this off. Mine has just gone to bits in an identical way

Just an impact gun to remove the bolt.

Thanks but how do you stop the whole pulley from turning whilst turning the bolt

Are you useing a 1/2 inch impact gun?

The ony way to do it with that would be to lock the crank, and the only way I could think to do that is to remove the starter motor and hold the flywheel with a prybar, but to remove starter motor you may need to remove the radiator,
