Just got mine a day ago and can say I'm impressed. I like how it feels like a solid piece of hardware, has some weight to it, and not a mostly empty plastic shell. Was pleased to see that the Sega/PCE emulators support CD games as well. Sonic CD runs well. Don't think I'll be playing Ai Chou Aniki on the bus though. lol. PS 1 support has been fine, but I really only put Ridge Racer and the first two Persona games on the SD card. Totally worth the price if you can get it for under $90.
Ordered mine from ali express direct from the ambernic site. 32gb micro ad and case package. Come with snes, genesis, play station, arcade and a bunch of others. Chose to have delivery from Spain instead of China. Stated 2-6 weeks arrived in 10 days. Very impressed.
Budget wasn't a concern to me and I still chose the rg350p over the M model because a vast majority of retro games look WAY better on a 240p screen than they do on a 480p screen (where the image has to be stretched and scaled). 240p is way better, and the fact that it's cheaper is just a nice bonus.
I bought my RG350 from Amazon American Seller and it still came with games. But the SD card was not inside the handheld it was inside it's own little case so you can put it in yourself so it's not illegal because the roms were not inside the handheld when it was sold
I've got one coming today from Amazon (RG350P) but the plastic casing is a translucent grey colour... Is it different in any way to yours other than the colour?
@@RetroCore Thanks for the reply! When it arrived turned out it was actually the solid grey colour rather than the translucent. One last question, does the mini SD card go in properly, mine wont click in the available slot and I'm not sure if its supposed to go in the slot with the sticker over it (I'm scared to peel it off iin case I void the warranty)
Again with 2 devices haha i really envy you! Kudos for another great review.. the Vectorman gameplay was great in this version on the RG350 series... Over the years, you really have mastered the art of playing handheld behind a viewfinder👍👍👍 Now I don't know what to get haha... The 280 one was great too (as well as your review of it) Great new opening for RC, i like the kaleidoscope like effects :)
Thanks for the comment, Rave. If you are nit on a strict budget I'd but the RG-350M or RG-280M if the smaller form factor is something you want. If money is a bit tight the RG-350P is perfect. Same great built quality and same power specs as the M models.
Found something you can do on the RG 350P or M or original or to 280m in case you don't know about You can take screenshots with a button combo the RG uses the same firmware as the gcw zero push the power button and X and it'll take a screenshot and they will be saved in local/home/screenshots You can use the built-in photo viewer to view the screenshots
Retro I have a question for this one - did they downsize the screen back into 240p again, or is it still 480p like the M version? Different sources online tell me it's either 240p or 480p, and neither one seems more certain to me. I might get a metal version sometime, if the HDMI hack isn't too difficult. Otherwise, I'd be happy using the AV out option too, at least hoping it supports PAL. Did you try the AV out on any of them? (I don't even know if AV out is a function on the M and P versions tbh) For that matter, does AV out work on the 280M, or is that only a headphone jack?
I think I'm getting one of those Open Dingux handhelds for Christmas. Most probably it would be this RG350P, but if I find myself on a lower budget, then I'd probably go for Powkiddy V90. Its cheap and does job well too. Having games is a nice addition, but to be fair I probably already have everything I'd be interested in playing, so its not a necessity.
For me I really like the RG-280M. Seems to be packing the same hardware specs as the 350M but comes in a slim form factor and that fantastic anodised aluminium colour. The M series in general is great. They just shout quality unlike nothing else out there. The P series is also quality but there's nothing better than holding a console made purely out of metal.
I'm want to get a retro emulation console but there's so many diffrent ones I haven't a clue where to start. Mainly want to play Arcade, Snes and mega drive. can Anybody help please
Get this one. I have the metal version and love it to bits. Now, there's a bit of a learning curve because different emulators have different ways of exiting, saving, tweaking etc, but you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.
@B3ro1080 yes, the gaming capabilities are intact, it's just that the android experience, menu and web browsing it has become quite slow since its latest firmware which I believe is based on android 7. I got the K1 version which I got back in 2016. I'm not complaining as it's normal cause it's a 4 year old device
im mostly interested in 8 and 16 bit era games on the go so im considering an rg280m. nice form factor, good battery life, fits in a pocket. the aluminum rk2020 also has me interested.
I'm afraid I've not had any experience with the retroid pocket 2. But I have a strong feeling this would be the better machine. The RG series are well built.
I found this app which will show the battery level it'll work on anything that has opendingux firmware github.com/alexandre-archive/gcw_battery/releases/tag/1.0.0
my very first game i played was Need for Speed World in 2013 it was a game mixed with MMO and cars it did well until it was shutdown in 2015 yes it is a online game that you can download and play again it was shutdown BUT you can still play it in 2020 thanks to some people they (somehow) managed to get the game working in both offline and online (SoapBox Race World) oh and just in case if you want to play the game here are som links offline: www.mediafire.com/file/ywbtbece36fl83i/NFSWorld.rar/file online: soapboxrace.world/
The Retroid Pocket 2 is very cheaply built compared to the RG series. There's a reason why they don't cost as much. I'm not saying they're bad systems but they don't compare to the RG series.
@@RetroCore Yeah, the difference in the material quality is noticeable even through this video, not gonna lie. However, these devices are "break and get a new one, you'd have to get one of the better new ones in a year anyway" kind of deals for me, I don't expect to use any of them for a long time. I mean, rs-97 was the king of the handhelds not a long time ago and now we have devices that can play dreamcast games.

Glad you like the system. This is easily one of the better ones. Works really well and feels quality.

Same here. I ordered mine last saturday and should arrive next week (sendet to Germany). I can't wait to play with it!

Cool. Thanks for the info. I didn't know about that.
thanks, gonna try it on my rg351 hopefully it'll work

The audio is a surprise for one of these budget machines. It sounds like a premium 100+ dollar unit.
They're definitely stepping up there game on devices like this.

If you're on a real budget I recommend the Subor Q9. That thing is really cheap yet it can play many systems very well including PlayStation.
The 350P is a great handheld I wish they first released it and then the Metal ... 😄

Got this earlier this week. Great for the money. Loaded with snes and genesis (megadrive for us brits)!
Can you do a bluetooth connection between the two and play a game in multiplayer mode?
Not that I'm aware of.
My RG350M came with HDMI enabled and sound out through HDMI works fine...
They must have updated the firmware on your one, 👍
Do you get lack issues when playing some fba games? (ex. Gunbird 2) or it just mine?
Lag issues? I've not played Gunbird 2 but some games can run a little slow.
@@RetroCore i mean slow hhe, it means we got the same prob, not just me. Btw, thx for the answer.
Looks great the audio is really crisp might pick one up
Do you think it’s worth getting the RG350M for the screen? I’m tempted to but worried about the weight of it.
It does weigh a little more but its no heavier than a 3DS LL or is it XL in the West? Either way, it's about the same as the bigger 3DS.
Retro Core do you find it feels ok weight wise? I checked the specs and it’s 255g and new 3DSxl is 330g
Watching this thinking: "Kids today. so lucky. Can you imagine getting one of these when you were 10".
Bloody hell, when I was 10 a Game & Watch was amazing. That would have been in 1985.
So Mark, this or the Retroid Pocket 2??.

Does the display of RG350M looks better than RG350P?
It's a 480p display. I believe the original has a 240p display.
Both use the same tech so both look great.
Is it smaller than the other versions?
Nope, same size. The smaller one is the RG-280M. It's kind of rare though.
Not bad at all ark. Looks like a device that's well worth spending the money on. I like it. 8^)

Don't worry about it. We all get tied up with life at one point or another 👍
hmm I think m as in metal gets the job done than the p as in plastic
speaking of emulation i see it has dosbox we will see if you want computing on the go well maybe.
Either not enough room internally or they did not want to pay for a full HDMI license. Hmm
Isn't cheap in any way though. Retroid Pocket 2 says hello lol
