WOW Shane, that's a lot of stuff. Ok what I carry. A G19 or G26 (depends of season) on the waistline with a spare mag. A money clip and ID/credit card case. And phone. That's it. Upon getting to work, I put aforementioned items in my locker in my office. I change into hospital scrubs and proceed to my morning rounds, then in surgery. Afternoon back to office to chart patients, back in surgery. Then go home.....a 12 hr day 5 days a week. Every so often on weekend call...in which I stay at hospital due to I reside 75 mile from Nashville.

Good stuff. Not sure if you remember me, I'm the one who asked you about low-profile EDC/CCW sling bags at the BladeHQ re-opening. Wish I knew about the Katara a few days ago when I ordered a Vertx Commuter.
I'm sure the Commuter will be fine, but it looks like the Katara has better internal organization, even if it is a little smaller. Also, the high-contrast orange inner lining makes it a lot easier to see and grab things fast. If I need a secondary bag, I know what's at the top of my list now. It seems most CCW bags capable of carrying small laptops are either full-size backpacks or messenger-style bags, and I prefer vertical satchels and sling bags. A lot also seem to always put the CCW pocket directly on the other side of the laptop sleeve, ( I worry about the pistol slide damaging a tablet through the foam ). Putting the CCW on the outer portion of the bag means you've got multiple pockets between them, affording better protection. And it's got enough external straps to be useful without screaming "Tacticool!" and sticking out in a crowd. My only question is if the CCW pocket on the Katara can be opened from both sides or only from the left?
Maybe I'm too particular in what I want from a bag, but this one looks very well thought out.

I do remember you! Thanks for chiming in. I must have been picturing my 15" laptop when you brought that up, which does not fit in here. It would fit an 11-13" laptop though, yes. I completely forgot to mention that the CCW compartment is accessible from EITHER side. Totally ambidextrous.

I don’t agree with every EDC, to each his own, but why are people who only carry “keys, phone, wallet” even watching EDC videos? If you don’t care, what’s the point? You’re ALWAYS going to think people carry too much. Is it just to comment and feel cool or badass?

I've never understood iPhone people. Not only does it sound crappy (to the person receiving the call) and break if you breathe on them the wrong way, but one of the main 'show points' is always how slim and sexy it is. Then you have the owners that immediately slap on a case (so it doesn't break the first time its dropped) that makes it thicker than a brick! WTF?
You may always want to be prepared but the number of charger cords, cables, adapters etc. you carry is ridiculous. (this is coming from someone who's pack has enough gear to create a small network). I'd recommend you switch to ANY phone that takes a standard micro USB. Switch to the On The Road or other CR123 equivalent lights that has the micro USB port. Its an easy standard. I have several devices but I carry ONE tiny wall wart and a cable and I can charge all my devices as needed. I skip all the silly little "tools" that never work very well and carry ONE leatherman. Nuff said. EDC isn't about how MUCH you carry. IMHO
