Can you please do a Start up and Driving video of the Duramax with no dialog? I'm totally blind and typing with a laptop using a screen reader. Being blind I like sounds of trucks more than looks of trucks since I can't see. I was tought how to type when I was 4 years old on a Windows 98 computer. And I am a new subscriber!
Hello there, could I use the cranking fragments of your video for my coldstarting compilation? Of course I will put a link to your original video in the description, increasing the original’s popularity too. Thanks a lot for you answer in advance :) now this is a honest -45 cold start! Fuel was probably gelled pretty well too?
What batteries are you using? Mine are comeplete trash barely can get it running with one short crank anything below 15° if it don't start on first crank batteries have no power to turn it over
If you dont buy fuel Pre-treated at the station of run some for of anti-gel your diesel does NOT RUN AT ALL IF ITS BELOW ZERO! Even if you get your diesel engine started inside your garage and head out on the road and its cold with nothing but straight diesel and BIO-Diesel is the worst for freezing up you stand and extremely good chance of sitting along side the road changine fuel filters, and that sux badly! I treat normal diesel fuel as per the treatment bottle instructions and double that if I am forced to run bio-diesel! I have owned Dmax engines in both trucks and pickup almost since GM started getting them from Isuzu and I honestly would have thought this engine would have started better than it did. If I had any clue it was going to be that difficult to start I sure would have plugged it in!
Have you just tried turning on the key wait four to five minutes and then crank time it sometimes you think 5 minutes went by and it's only been one or two
Dang. Why don't you plug it in? Or did you do this kindof for fun to see what would happen? Do you use fuel treatment? Were you pumping the gas as you were trying to start it or just letting the truck do the work? Do you have a lift pump? Thanks! Just curious...
Take a look at the video of my LB7 Duramax starting up! It wasn't nearly this cold, but, I do a walkaround of it explaining what all I've done to my truck. Let me know what you think in the comments!
Eian Weber Lol it will harm it but you have no choice with diesels you either do it or don’t get it started either way starters get replaced more often on diesels for sure.
The starter served as a block heater to get it going
😂
The recommended time to crank on a starter without damage is 30 seconds. They hardly went that long on it.
I replaced my starter as a precautionary measure after a winter of doing this every time I needed my truck.
No need to. The starter is designed to have starts like this and being able to take it

Ah yes. The sound of needing to order a new starter.
6 years later, how rusted is your frame? Poor truck.

It would start if you hold the DANG KEY A bit longer
@Braxton Thessing once it’s coughing keep cranking or you’ll lose heat in the cylinders you’ve built up
That 6.6l sounds pissed
Sounds like “man it’s fucking cold I don’t wanna get up”
Mine starts right up when it's -10 idk about -45 ha
What size pipe??
5 inch
Don't let off the key so early
Cole Kitten you have to or it’ll burn up the starter
Timothy Short in the cold I always figure if it’s sputtering like that keep cranking till she goes
Eian Weber That is not true.

Can’t do that on old batteries!!
