If you've got any old turbos you aren't going to use again I want to build a jet engine out of one with my kids......
RAFFLE not give away
That’s not what the terms and conditions on your website say.
@@DouglasHaber if it was a GIVEAWAY there would be a spot on the web site, right up front where you could put in your name and phone number or email to enter... I just wish he would use the correct terminology...
@@justmewatching I get it. I was referring to the terms and conditions that are posted on the website saying every purchase greater than five dollars is worth one entry or you can enter for free by mail.
Warranties are like most insurance policies; the first thing is, they look for anything to deny the claim or reduce the payoff.
Where's all the cabover trucks that you loved so much?
Sitting in the weeds.
Who do you call when you need a haul? Bruce Wilson lol
Doesn’t even get on the high side & says “wow this things a beast.” Never heard him say that before from an 11 liter turd to a C16
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Abs light is on. Yep definitely Tim's truck
😂😂
Yeah if not lights are on its not his trucks
You learned the hard way about warranties and the fact they are worthless as they are written. At least you can replace your own parts yourself which is a huge advantage to you.
The coolant leak dripping on the hot manifold made it crack. you need to correct that leak.
They did, it was the rad hose up top.
i would take that old manifold and braze the crack up and put it on the shelf for a backup -20 bucks of brazing and it would be stronger than a new one i got one i brazed up 20 years ago its still good as gold
Your dad does so much for the company, he deserves another vacation, but knowing him, the answer would be no need, love him all you can, lost my pops in 2000 on Mothers Day!
Completely agree lost my pop April 14 this year rough deal
Very true, lost my Dad back in 1995....I miss him everyday.
You have to add 300 degrees to your EGT when your thermocouple is behind the turbo. Also. Get rid of those heat shields and wrap the down pipe. C'MON MAN!!
That turbo must have given you 500 more hp!!😂
It probably cracked caused by that water leak on that Hot manifold huh
Man do I miss the days when manufacturers just stood behind their warranties. "Oh, that broke at no fault of the customer, it's covered". Now it's more like "how can we lie and pretend this is the customer's fault even though we know it's not".
Tim I figured there was something wrong with you truck. Your driver was on 212 in montana going west out of Broadus Mt with 2 boats. There are some hills, and I was 106000 with doubles and crawled up his ass. Thought you had trucks that run. LOL, great looking truck, but it was doggy. I've seen him twice up here. Get her fixed.
Tim runs his mouth a lot 🤣😂
You know you can Weld n repair that crack on that manifold on cast iron you heat it up n use Brass Brazing rod n that how I repair cast iron n it works
That’s weird 🤷♂️ I’ve been driving to California for my company for 5 years now and I have always idled my truck 🤔 guess I just haven’t got caught 😂
You ever notice that you guys are constantly wrenching on trucks that were already fully rebuilt once already? Tons more than normal maintenance, just saying. 😊
The problem is his so called mechanics are backyard lawnmower dummies. I want to see just how many are ASE certified mechanics then the high school dropout super mechanic boy Timmy sticks his hands in and nothing but a disaster.
Yes. They are a joke . The channel is good for comedy that's about it.
@@user-cm4qv2gw3gASE lol what a joke
You need to send Devin to diesel school to get certified, then have your shop a certified Detroit shop
gotta be detroit cert for warranty to stand says if with the paper work when buying a new crate engine
Lol your kidding me
@@JASONH01 and on top of it mf might leave for a better pay! Do not spend money on ur employees!!! Just buy them food once a week if you have too
@@Playboyraj You can't be serious....
@@Playboyrajud be terrible to work for /with
Also Dad is a beast to have around, he's the master tech
The warranty is as worthless as the paper it's written on. I rebuilt my C16 cat with a well known repair shop that was licensed to work on Cats and warranty the work. $38,000 later and 8 months it went to hell in a hand basket. The repair shop and Cat went back and forth and before they denied the my claim. So I bit the bullet and took to a offshore marine shop and dropped $42,000 into it and never had any issues with it for the next 4 years until I sold it.
That squicking noise would drive Me absolutely Crazy!!!
That manifold probably cracked when the coolant dropped on it, would have been a good flow when the system is under pressure
Some of these comments are wild! You can tell that many of the folks committing don’t know anything about building a business let alone building a building for business. Gentry family keep doing things the best way you see fit for yourselves and your business. I love every minute of it.
Tim u need to get a shop for pop . Get him out of rain n bad weather! Maybe a prefab ?
Enjoy your videos And watching your Dad and Braxton working. You come a long way!
With the amount of idiots out there who claim to be "mechanics" just because they can put gas in their lawnmower, and only spill 40% of it, there's little wonder why companies, let alone one like Detroit Diesel, would want a certified mechanic/shop to do the work- it's assurance that someone who actually knows what they're doing did it, and did it the right way. Always read the warranty contract, and pay attention to the fine print
Warranty isn’t junk. It’s actually very common for manufactures to only warranty engines installed by dealers or approved shops, that is completely normal. Ford dodge and Chevy even have the same policy
You know that the fuel gauge is working just fine. I'm a ex electrician that just can't handle the stress and driving cause I'm type 1 diabetic. I have always had pretty bad ass stereos in all my vehicles so I think that knowing how dc volts works and supplies power to anything I'd be good at I would love to come visit Gentry & Sons Just to work one or two days with your father. My dad passed 5 years ago and your father reminds my of my pop so much. I'd just like to learn how to do good wiring on big trucks that actually need a little love. Just think you and your dad could teach a 53 year old man some new tricks. Love and God Bless My Brothers from another Mother's!!!
Warranty and insurance is a Fucin joke that’s facts
Your dad’s great, videos with your family and the crew👍
Love video’s of the all your trucks and trailers etc.
you guys really make a lot of this stuff look easy
Wow that turbo was a huge improvement
But you voided all warranties when you set ecm. Because none of you registered certified with Detroit.
Sorry Tim, yes hoops for warranty ,but should have asked before paying.
Vacuum waste gate could have um blocked hose off and build more psi. Oh well.
Warranty claims suck. The company i drive for just bought a 22 t880 with a cummins. Not even 100k and it developed an oil leak. Took it in for warranty work, ended up with a bill for almost 5 grand. Wtf, it was supposed to all be under warranty.
Warranty is nothing but a money grab , that goes for anything with a " warranty " these days , I see it every day with working on cars
TIM you are PROOF that you running Detroit’s has it up’s and down’s. Plus you have Drivers not Drover who respect the TRUCKS they are driving, they report issues so they don’t get to the stage were you have to take them off the road a long time, your work team in the shop are lead by a young grey haired fella , I say young I’am 71 old grey haired fella who loves trucks Keep Up the Great Work O Beard One Cheers
Also Dad still seems pretty young and spry, he's timeless
U know now a days Tim they promise the world an don’t deliver! God bless
7mpg running light is nothing to brag about.
Amen to that. That’s abysmal. Our T2000 with a 450hp 3406 cat pulling the race hauler was getting 8-9
Can't wait to see what you are going to do with it
Warranties generally arent worth the paper they are printed on
Trust Detroit to not want to cover the warranty. They do the same in Aus , you can have it fitted by a Detroit accredited workshop . Then they say they will not cover things .
So much easier to do it like you . Keep up the hard work Tim , the shop and all the things you want will happen sooner than you think .

Loving the channel and you guys mission

And Warranties are nothing more than advertising for the Service Centers - A really big Joke! #ThatsTruckin
Yup, now you blew the parts of the warranty you DID have, I’m assuming internally oiled parts, like catastrophic failure.. now that you turned the boost up, that too is gone..
Oh my that jake brake sound!!!!😍
Sounds and runs great
Just saw the Argosy waiting in line at sarnia. If you ever run into any issues in southern Ontario I can look after you
isn't it crazy that Rudolph Diesel died thinking diesel was a failure, he did also die under strange circumstances. Im not a trucker but I have become very interested and almost obsessed w these machines. Diesel makes the world turn now, most people don't even realize. Too bad Rudolph didn't see this unfold. Compression ignition baby.
One of the biggest things I can see I don’t like about that green apu is the fact it doesn’t work off the trucks key like a tripac does
That ford sounds awesome!!
It been over 20 years since I been in Cali but what I remember it got up to the high of 90 and the average is about 85. It is all dry air and where I am at now gets up to low 100s with humidity. It’s a big difference between each place.
I overhauled my Cat with all cat parts and the warranty on the parts was a load of crap and the warranty on my Detroit was crap to good luck with all your builds and keep on truckin
Appreciate the hard work, Tim putting out these awesome videos, I know it's not easy, buddy.
Please all he does is turn on the camera and drive around, his videos have nothing creative in them or edited very well at all.
Braxton it depends on what part of California you're in, northern parts are similar to Tennessee, southern part around San Diego is hot and tropical sometimes. Mojave and Death Valley are very hot. Mojave, I've seen 118 degrees, and had to go through Death Valley at 120 degrees
A truck warranty and parts warranty are 2 different things. I had never had a problem with my truck warranty except for the shop always being busy
She’s ready to eat the highway up now
No Tim you don’t call gentry, and Sons you call the Ghostbusters to get your boats and things hauled lol
Hope y’all are doing well!!
Another thing that helps a Detroit is to go in and set the injectors at 75% across the board my old 60 series the injectors was from 6 to 12 and after in set the injectors I was getting 6&1/2 grossing 80,000
Certified licensed mechanic has to do the work or the warranty is void and they don't want the person doing their own install even if said person is a Certified mechanic !
Sounds like another Gofundme coming soon. Warranty won't cover, i need a free tow so I'll promote your business. Almost every video there's crying about needing money. But you sure spend money on unnecessary stuff like drag car, multiple vacations and truck shows Chrome fenders and so on. A new shop could of been built by now. Shame on you
Tim's gall to be such an overt hypocrite makes even corrupt politicians blush
I always love to hear a 7.3
I could stick that turbo on my old 6.2 diesel chevy and make cool sounds 😎
The coolant dripping on that manifold may have contributed to that crack ?
Nah the crack there all the time
01:07 am... video still kicks butt just l8ke that green coronado...I get more hooked with every 1..be safe..motor on...
Treat it well and it will treat you well ...Those old motors have what it takes.... a little older ones might need a lil marvel mystery added to the tank but will run forever.
You can't beat a good running 7.3 period !
I saw the Coranado rolling west on interstate 20 on the west side of Fort Worth this morning!
Kinda weird as it's going to Montana and Washington?
I love this green Coronado
It would be a blessing to win this for my dad he deserves something like this he's always wanted one like this
Who do ya call when you need it hauled Cletus McFarland 😂😂😂😂 Tim brother I'm joking with you lol you an your driver's do an awesome job hauling boats keep up the good work
I though it was ghost busters haha 😂😂😂
Should have keep the loaded trl on its back to get the ture filling for the new trubo . Bobtail you can't get the ture filling for it.
What you doing with the new white ford you got there? Laying here in tennova north hospital watching ur latest video. Got a blockage of 90% . Getting stints in the morning, hope ill be around to watch more of ur great videos. Detrash want cover squat. Maybe one day they will, keep up the great work guys. Remember me in ur prayers, love yall
Tim gentry you make some good videos and that's what inspired me to try to make a you tube and make the videos I got on it now
Do you have any advice on how to make good videos
Loved my Series 60 in my Western Star. It was a power house. I was at 650hp pulling a gas tanker. It was a runner. And the 8" straights.... if I'm up... you're up! Come on! Our Cat motors had problem after problem. That Detroit just kept a rollin'
Tim there’s a Kenworth for sale on the southbound (Hotchkiss Valley Rd) side of the Sugarlimb Rd exit. Didn’t look bad from the road. Just thought I’d let you know
If the warranty is gone.. TURN ER up .. As Tim would say :)
You need to make T-shirts with that Saying 😆
Who you going to call 😆
Sounds great
The more power your making on these trucks burn more fuel which means your losing money. Surely to make money you have cost efficient trucks,
That would make sense. You’d think they’d be after economy, reliability, and efficient trucks.
He lets his ego be in charge which means he wants high hp and black smoke but then wonders why his crap breaks.
Nice 👍 truck dude.
thermostat housing is leaking
While you out representing you need to hire someone to iron your dad gum shirts.
I need a Green Coronado 13 speed in my life.
Happy Birthday und WHATS UP AK
Engines need to breath....... :) The cascadia I drive is being worked on right now that my boss owns, but man that thing with 44k lbs climbing any hill she'll run 200 temp maybe 215-220 if its 90+F out, but she will pull 60mph + on some steep grades. I'm falling in love with Detroits. Have yet to drive a cat though in my 8 years of driving.
God bless you Tim may God give you all a great year.
So you had warranty but chose not to go through the process for policy. Got it🤔
The process just assures them that you will pay for the parts an labor so when they finally call you an tell you that they will not warranty it because of some stupid issue they already got your money. That's why for a O/O that works on his own stuff it's not worth it.
@@JunkyardDog001 so wrong my caterpillar 4 year platinum warranty has covered 100% of my repairs. Unlimited mileage.
@@tater_relocater had a cracked liner. They wouldn't warranty it.
Tim I know you love doing all your own work so when you bought the engine why didn't you let Detroit install it...did they tell you ahead of time that it would void or change the warranty if you installed it. They don't want to honor the warranty because you did the install...if anything happens to the engine and you say something about it this is their way of protecting them self against a possible lawsuit
That's every company required to get warranty coverage
Hi Tim this is one of my favourite trucks the green machine that’s what I call it Not a huge fan of the warranty for the truck you would think that a trucking company that has there own mechanics you would think that would be enough specially when the part was not even added on after installation Take care stay safe G.Whyte
0:50 you guys need to put a set of Dakota Digital Dash in that thing.
That turbo DOES have a waste gate. Its internal. The silver pump is what controls it. If it didnt have one you would make infinite boost (until something went pop)
Lol that’s not how it works.
@@550hpW900L yeah, what would I know. Only going to school for performance automotive. But maybe you should google what happens to a turbo with no wastegate. "A wastegate that is stuck closed cannot “dump" excessive manifold pressure generated by a turbocharger, and can cause an overboost condition. This can be detrimental to various engine components, especially if detonation occurs."
Its exactly how it works. That vacuum cylinder opens to dump extra boost pressure. The turbo he showed has a internal wastegate vacuum controlled.
@@xmu69 that’s great but “cylinder vacuum” does not open the wastegate, I’m not trying to insult you but you need to do some more studying. Diesels don’t care about wastegates, most diesels didn’t/don’t run one. In Diesel boost is dependent on fuel being ran, give them as much boost as possible, it’s not a gas engine and being lean won’t blow them up.
Also diesel engines do not make vacuum.
@@550hpW900L your right they dont pull much vacuum... thats why they have vacuum pumps. Heres what that is Vacuum pump is a device which gets the drive from engine cam shaft. In some designs, it is driven by the alternator shaft.
Next your going to tell me diesels have no spark plugs? 😮 😲 😮
the Detroit warranty is a bummer but thats pretty much the standard with anything out there, if its not dealer installed there will be more hoops to jump through, and even then your going to have to take it to an authorized warranty dealer for repairs so warranty processes can be followed and filed at the time of the repairs, even if you did the install you will have to take it to a authorised warranty facility I've been through this with many customers and they just assume because it has warranty they can do the repairs and just get the parts and labor reimbursed directly to them, the best case is going to a dealership you have a relationship with and they will in turn be able to contact their warranty rep. and get assistance on getting the claim pushed through, even just getting a parts warranty your most likely going to have to take the warranty part to a dealer and pay for the new part, have them submit the old part for a warranty inquiry they will inspect it and make a warranty determination, if its warranty they will issue the cost of the replacement part. in short without dealer involvement your rolling the dice and probably going to roll snake eyes,
They knew that you guys were putting the engine in yourselves when you bought engine.
A friend of mine off of 90 in Montana has been for last few years pulling all his cats out putting Detroits in. They even went through Fitzgerald classes to to warranty work on their gliders. If you ever stuck on the road close to the last chicken coop headed west out of Montana he has a shop and his wife has a towing company called SweetRides towing and SweetRide Logistics
Is that over by St Regis?
@@treyschmidt762 yeah Haugan behind 50g silver dollar
Welcome to warranty headaches. Now that you replaced exhaust and turbo you have voided any further warranty. Welcome to the warranty games 🎮. 🤷♂️🙄🤪
😄✌️
You should ad trans gauge and a turbo gauge also a cool down timer to the ford truck you are giving away
I’D STILL TAKE THAT MANAFOLD AND TURBO UNIT BACK TO DETROIT PARTS MANAGER AND ASK IF THEY WOULD AT LEAST REPLACE THE PARTS.
See if they detroit has a certification program so if you install another engine they will have to honour the warranty . If they dont take them to court and have them charged with consumer fraud .
