Thanks for all the amazing and sweet comments. We have read all of them. Love to hear the stories, history, and information about the park. We admit that we missed a fair bit, but like many of you pointed out, it gives us a reason to come back! A few things that we learned thanks to the comments below: • We had no idea that entry to the park was included in the stay with an official Efteling hotel. If you are thinking of going, this makes the official hotels really good value! • Yes, you can film, we just did a quick Google search, so we misread that. We will invest in a GoPro! • We are gutted we missed Fairy Tale Forest. We will be back! To be honest, we could not find it in time! Too many beautiful places to get lost. • Which brings us to our last point, give the park at least 2 full days if you have never been before!
Fun fact about Efteling: almost all paths in Efteling are bended paths. Combined with the lush foliage, you can't look too far ahead of you. This way, always walk in a sort of magical pocket of the park. It also makes the mind wander about what is ahead.
@@mavadelo This is a confirmed fact. I attended an Efteling presentation once where the art director told the audience about this. It's a conscious design choice to add to the sense of mystery of Efteling.
It is also great for people like me who get overstimulated by crowds. Most of the park doesn't feel crowdy, so I can be in a busy themepark and feel like it's a calm and quiet place.
Oh trust me, next time, get the kroket, it is the best and you will fall in love with it for sure. Next time when/if you come back you can see employee names graved in the stained glas when you walk through the entrance...And i am sure people told you but don't forget to do the fairytale forrest. It is the heart of the Efteling. I am glad you guys enjoyed it.
Yeah with mustard! It's kind of a crime they don't automatically give you the sauces with the snacks. I'm not a rollercoaster person so I always did all the fairy tale things and I saw a Little Mermaid ride on a video from Disney the other day and it's just some screens and plastic plants and barely an animatronic. No one who grew up with Efteling can enjoy that sort of dumb "ride", plus their wait hours for the privilage.

I still can appreciate the general atmosphere of the park and I allways enjoy the little details scattered around the whole park.
I'm confused why you would spend 150 euro a night on a hotel stay in de Kroon, when a 2 person stay in one of the Efteling hotels with 2 days park entry starts at 266 euro... An entry ticket to the park is already 46 euro per day, so a 2 day visit for 2 persons is 184 euro. You would only pay 82 euro for the night in the hotel and would get free breakfast and half an hour early entry into the park...
Carnaval festival had an update not too long ago. Especially the Africa section was changed a lot, which im sure u could see in old onride videos. Also the ride stops sometimes for people who arent very mobile or wheelchair user to carefully get on the ride
I like the slow lift hill on Python. It heightens the anticipation and you get a really nice view of the park up there. I am 49 and at the time it was built I was too young to ride it. I did test it after the renewal too and I still love it.
Happy you had a good time. The Efteling is one of our prides here. Next time, please do the Fairy Tale Forest, it's the core of what it started with. Sit on a bench there somewhere, and watch for 20 minutes what's happening at one spot. Then you understand why. Also, great choice to do the caroussel. It's a real one from the turn of the 20th century with one of the best barrel organs in the world (this brand has only 4 working left in the world).
The droomvlucht is amazing and a nightmare simultaneously. Imagine cleaning that place. I expect it to be more dusty every time I visit, and that ride is decades old by now. I had fun watching you guys :)
The lifthill on Python is this slow because of 1 reason. On busy days they run with 2 coastercarts instead of 1 for the flow. For safety reasons they slowdown the lifthill of Python. For me Python is an attraction that does not really fit the Efteling vibe. But the reason they've build it is because the Efteling was only a FairyTale forest back in the day. And they wanted more teens to take a visit to the Efteling. So they made a rollercoaster that the Teens could enjoy. That's the reason why Python doesn't really have a theme matching the Efteling Vibe
And also a bit of what the other comment said about disturbing the wildlife. But alsof because the Neighbours of the Efteling were complaining that the ride made to much sound. So that's another reason why the lifthill is slower

FYI it is mostly the best value for money to stay in the resort, you get access to to the park included, breakfast and early entrance, plus it is a better experience
you should really try the rundvlees kroket, it's typical dutch, and very tasty!,. best to order it on a bun, with a bit of mustard,. aka "broodje kroket" 😉
15:17 that rollercoaster has been defect for some time I think. A few years ago you wouldn’t be able to tell which side won but the last time I went blue had been winning every time
I am pleased that you liked the Efteling, i think every dutchie is a little proud of the park 🙂 The rides have earned their respects along the way. Just imagine that Fata Morgana is already 38 years old, and Droomvlucht (Dreamflight) 31 years old by now. You also visited the Diorama, well that is 53 years old, that is more than half a century now ! ❤the slow lifthill❤ it builds anticipation you can look around while going higher and higher. Efteling is not about thrills.. it's about experiences. Slow is good.
Python is a whole generation of dutch people's first looping coaster. They tore it down (except for the lift hill) and completely rebuilt it because it was becoming too rough, but the history is too important to remove it.
That flat ribbed meat snack is called a mexicano , take the next time you go to a Dutch snackbar the beef kroket , bitterbals is similar as the kroket but still a bit different. Delicious 😋
I went in January to the Winter Efteling. It's like a different park then. Different snacks an atmosphere and very winter wonderland. You should definitely check it out (also the pricer are lower outside the holidays in those months) you do have some rides that are undergoing maintenance or just not running, but still very much worth it. You do need 2 days to do and see the whole park. There were no lines when we went and we still weren't ablo to do the sprookjesbos and some other things. Okay, the day was shorter, but in the summer you have longer wait times.
I miss it so much... T_T I go every year but we used to go every single week lol. When I was little we had a subscription card so we went alot. Now, everytime I go, just a week or 3 after I get homesick already. Can't wait to go back again.
Yup, I hated Fata Morgana as a kid. went in screaming and crying and when I got back when around 10/11 years old I still had a small traumatic response and something in me said no, but I did and I remembered which parts came after and mentally prepared but in the end it was okay. But to this day, when I get in the boat that small flashback trauma response occurs haha.
I remember like 15 years ago they sold the Döner Kebab for 6,75, and it's still the same price. Back then it was an outragous price since Döner Kebab would cost only 2,50 to 3,50 in Germany, but now prices are around 8 Euros and I would GLADLY play 6,75 for a whole Döner.
About Carnival Festival, it has already got a few changes in the past years. It is supposed to be stereotypical, so those sections are how they need to be in my oppinion. Also the getting stuck is the most normal things, it would actually be weird if you didnt get stuck. Its so people with physical issues can peacefully step on.
Ah, me and my son sat at the same table at the Raveleijn diner as you guys. We enjoyed it very much, but I understand that with 2 adults the experience is much more different that with kids. I liked your video very much, always nice to see how "foreign" people react to my second home (have an annual pass). 😉😉
Living in the Netherlands so I used to go a lot to Efteling back in the days. Since I got my drivers license it’s really easy to get to Disneyland Paris so that is my go-to park now but I did enjoy my Efteling visits when I was younger. Not compatible to any other themepark in the Netherlands
Such a magical place, I really have to visit he attractions but I believe the newest one opens this year so... You should have picked up a map or used the Efteling map app to get around its just too big. :) It's very cool you guys send so much tucm on the food and restaurants because most videos only give a short glance at those'.

I never really got why people always like to compare Carnaval Festival with It's A Small World, it's not even the same type of ride. If any relation to Disney, I'd say that it is a carnavalesk take on Epcot's World Showcase where you will also find e.g. Germany depicted as a continuous Oktoberfest. Like the name implies it is a carnaval and Jokie the jester takes you past a series of floats showing the themes with a wink. For instance, did you realize that it is a hooker aiming for your attention next to Moulin Rouge?
You ARE allowed to film idk who told you not to. Efteling is very open about filming. Even on rollercoasters you can film with only a chest mounted gopro
If you’re curious, the ghosts from baron 1898 are “witte wieven” or wailing women it’s Dutch folklore about ghastly women that wander the heide (Dutch grass plains). Nowadays “witte wieven” is usually said when referring to a mist bank.

Come back you missed about half of the park glad you enjoyed it. Or you just enjoyed it and didn't record wich is fair enough. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the tripp did me scandavani tour 2 years ago. The food in the park is good just don't do that particulaire one unless you got plenty of time.
It was awesome! We did spend the whole day there, but we realised quickly that we needed more time as we missed all of the fairytale forest. We will for sure be back!
Carnaval Festival is not pretending to be A small world that is perfectly sweet. That doesn't fit at all with carnaval. The dutchies don't sing like frogs or have all wooden shoes. It is just caricature and that fits with the carnaval theme very well in the way it is celebrated in Noord-Brabant. Noord-Brabant, for the none dutchies, is the Dutch provence were Efteling is situated. And Carnaval is big overthere and to pretend to be something you are not and enlarge the stereotypes of it, fits in the traditions of carnaval as well. Just make fun of yourself and each other. But also A Small world use stereotype like wooden shoes, tulips and windmills to represent the Netherlands.
As someone who grew up in Efteling, has a season pass and goes there at least once a month…Nah, it needs an update. Better yet, I think it needs to go. It’s old and outdated, doesn’t fit the whimsical themeing of the park, and kind of ruins the beautiful Sinbad themeing in the area. It just kind of…sucks.
i don't know who told you that you can not film ....that is not true ...you can film in almost every atraction Disneyland is not a old as the Efteling btw Walt came to the Efteling befor he made Disneyland and was inspired by Efteling so ...
It's probably because disney imitated alot of Efteling.. Walt Disney even went to Efteling so he could make his own park as beautiful as Efteling.. But for me Disneyland is more beautiful

The steam carrousel is an authentic travelling carrousel built around 1900. It was permanently installed at Efteling in 1956.

It's just a massive shame they tore down the haunted house with the skeleton playing Saint-Saëns' 'Danse Macabre'.

The Rollercoaster Tycoon sweater is the perfect outfit for a visit to the theme park.
I believe you can film on the rides, never had any issues with that on my many visits.
Yeah you can film on most of the rides. On coasters you need a action cam with chestmount and at the darkrides you aren't allowed to use flash.
There are loads of video's where you can see the rides so next time just film to your hearts content

Woodencoaster Joris and The Dragon might get more Comfy again. Right now it's in major maintenance with parts of the track being replaced
The scents are custom to the ride you go on :) What you smell on the ride, you can buy in the giftshop next to the ride :D

Same. I had trauma because of that ride. The tiger, the cannon, the constant yelling. I hated it. Now I love it. It has so much charm.

The Python is one of the oldest rollercoasters in it's category. You can film with a bodycam just not a handhold camera. That's not safe.

Come back you missed about half of the park glad you enjoyed it. Or you just enjoyed it and didn't record wich is fair enough. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the tripp did me scandavani tour 2 years ago. The food in the park is good just don't do that particulaire one unless you got plenty of time.
It was awesome! We did spend the whole day there, but we realised quickly that we needed more time as we missed all of the fairytale forest. We will for sure be back!

Carnaval Festival is not pretending to be A small world that is perfectly sweet. That doesn't fit at all with carnaval. The dutchies don't sing like frogs or have all wooden shoes. It is just caricature and that fits with the carnaval theme very well in the way it is celebrated in Noord-Brabant. Noord-Brabant, for the none dutchies, is the Dutch provence were Efteling is situated. And Carnaval is big overthere and to pretend to be something you are not and enlarge the stereotypes of it, fits in the traditions of carnaval as well. Just make fun of yourself and each other. But also A Small world use stereotype like wooden shoes, tulips and windmills to represent the Netherlands.
As someone who grew up in Efteling, has a season pass and goes there at least once a month…Nah, it needs an update. Better yet, I think it needs to go. It’s old and outdated, doesn’t fit the whimsical themeing of the park, and kind of ruins the beautiful Sinbad themeing in the area. It just kind of…sucks.

Too much meat and too little Efteling, unfortunately. There are many many channels where I can watch guys eating meat and they are not my preference.

It's probably because disney imitated alot of Efteling.. Walt Disney even went to Efteling so he could make his own park as beautiful as Efteling..
