Lets keep in mind Cyberpunk 1.0 was supposed to release on April 16th of 2020. Just imagine how even worse it would've been if it came out then rather than on December.
Sadly that's what happens when you set deadlines. People will get angry when you don't meet them and ultimately will put a lot of pressure on your team. I think the situation was quite similar to the case of No Man's Sky, except CDPR didn't have the excuse of being an unknown indie studio at that point, so the situation was even more unacceptable. The fact remains that the game should never have been released for last-gen consoles in the first place.
Also not a fan of how they handled last gen stuff. They claimed they'd fix things for those versions, but they never actually did, not really. Stupid of me to trust them, yeah, but I got the game as a gift and I wanted to believe it'd be properly updated for PS4 since so many other games still run great from the same couple years as CP2077(played Forbidden West and Elden Ring with basically no problems). And yet lo and behold I realized a year later that I should've just gotten that refund and now I'm stuck with a useless piece of plastic trash. Either way I learned a good lesson that even good companies can burn you, so never trust them if you actually have a choice.
Yeah as a brokie who still can’t afford a current gen xbox playing the “updated” version of cyberpunk really put me in a funk and i even beat it too, but the fact that i got excited after i had quit the game and then heard about the update made me really hate expecting good things outta newer games.

I remember when I had cyberpunk for the ps4 without any updates because I didn’t have any internet and I was doing that mission where I had to save some dude in some building in the middle of nowhere with Panam and when I killed all the dudes, panam would get stuck 20 feet away from the building and 8 would be soft locked. Eventually i came to the conclusion that I had to use my brain and deduced that the guy was being held in a room in the garage of the building up a flight of stairs and had to get up there before the enemy that walked out of the room left it which would lock it, so I left the mission temporarily to get the double jump upgrade and then I went back and quickly double jumped and ran into the room before it was locked, which kept the mission from soft locking, which allowed me to progress the game. TL:DR some problems you need to overcome yourself
@@osric729 got to the part after you kidnap hanako and end up in that one motel with the proxy girl and after that I thought I was waiting for something like a phone call and spent 20 hours doing stuff when I didn’t even know I was soft locked. The worst part is that they straight up lied about it, saying it ran surprisingly well on old consoles before launch. It was borderline criminal. It didn’t even run “surprisingly well” on the newer consoles. I played it on the ps5 on launch and it was literally unplayable. The game would crash every 30 minutes which made it very difficult to make any progress, especially in long story sequences were constantly saving wasn’t an option l. The Cars in Cyberpunk are incredible now. When I 1st started playing the game after patch 2.0 it was how great the vehicles now felt and sounded which sold me on how great of an experience this was about to be. CDPR actually pulled it off and fixed their game. The anime was also awesome and was responsible for a stampede of new players. I played Cyberpunk 2077 day 1 up until meeting with Dexter (Who looked terrible compared to the trailers) in the back of the car and I quit there and just waited almost 2 years until 2.0 was ready. I am so glad I waited and gave the game a 2nd chance. Its one of the best open world games ever made.

@@MrMoofisAwesome I mean...it is a very good game. Sure 'masterpiece' might be a bit gratuitous, but I would argue that it's become a pretty good experience worthy of a lot of the praise it gets. Insane how 1.0, for me, was playing surprisingly well on PC. Only had one quest-related bug but otherwise everything was fine if I remember correctly haha
Even now there are visual glitches. Nothing game breaking though, just… normal game glitches. So, if you play the game start to finish without bugs, even today, you’re in the top .5% Let alone on release.
I had literally one noticeable bug in the full playthrough (crashed when I tried to save while blowing someone's head off). I get more bugs now than then. But, then, my PC was brand new at the time and for the time, very high spec, and the game was the only thing installed on it other than windows. One of the super weird things with Cyberpunk at launch was that it seemed massively vulnerable to your machine's configuration -- the slightest difference seemed to be the difference between insane bugs and a completely smooth experience. Probably because of how hard the game was pushing the system to stream the world without loading screens. Seems obvious that the game they created went way beyond the technical specs they were aiming for and that they should not have released it on old gen (then current gen) consoles until they'd found a way to fix it.
@drdreel5559 I remember the devs even confirmed that they had universal bugs in the game that affected everyone on pc. I get that some people are less or more sensitive to glitches and bugs....it's just annoying. i remember walking into a pile of garbage bags that then exploded and my player instandly dies. This was day 1.
@@maineman5757 I think a lot of people are just not very observant, or when they say "I was bug free the whole game" they are using an improper definition of what constitutes a bug, or aren't counting "harmless" bugs, or have separate mental categories for "bug" and for "glitch". Or if you're an Elder Scrolls fan like me, you've already kind of developed a habit of automatically mentally screening out or ignoring weird buggy stuff to try to maintain immersion. There's quite a few different things that could be going on there. I think it's perfectly possible to get through 2077 and not have any game-breaking bugs, but completely bug-free is pretty unbelievable. I'm sure if every one of these supposed bug-free people had livestream recordings of their playthroughs, the chat/comments would be able to point out some kind of bug in every single one, and probably multiple. I've certainly seen bugs in every playthrough I've watched so far. I will believe a bug-free playthrough exists when I see a recording of it.
It was one of the best gaming experiences in 2020 too. Well for me. If you were on old gen and a PC that can't run crysis 4 then the fuck were you expecting? :)
I remember when Cyberpunk first came out. My friend was taking me and another guy home from school and we stopped by his house to play it. Virtually unplayable. He had preordered it and was so excited. God was it horrible. Played it once and hated it. That same friend over time would told me that they fixed the game, but I never really cared to try it out. Then like 5-6 years later I finally tried it and, wow. Easily top 5 of my favorite games.
1.0 cyberpunk was horrendous, people were quick to forget that the game even existed and then Edgerunners came out after years of constant updates and people tried Cyberpunk out again after watching Edgerunners and thought the game wasn't bad anymore. Now update 2.1 onwards is totally different from 1.0, if cyberpunk 2077 came out in its current state back in 2020 people would regard the game as one of the best game ever made in the early 21st century
Such a redemption arc, I'm so glad last gen got the DLC, they actually added more than 5 minutes of intro for people who aren't nomads and aren't continuing to lie about launch. Truly a 10/10 experience.

I played this game in late 2021 on Series X. I never had any real issues(yes, I know it had already been patched a few times by that point). Sure there were a few glitches, but it wasn’t any worse than any other open world game I’ve ever played, especially when you consider how incredibly detailed Cyberpunk is. It was fun and unique. The 2.0 update made it significantly better and more palatable for the masses, but I was a little disappointed that they ditched the perks, weapon, and clothing leveling system because some of the stuff I had was much better under the original design. Once I adapted to the 2.0+ version, I was able to get my build to something more manageable. It was a nightmare to relearn it all though.
Cyberpunk when it was launched was an obvious case of a game clearly being designed for PC, and then second PS5 and then everything else secondary to them. The ports to Xbox and Playstation (especially PS4) apparently got rushed to hell 😂
It was due to the cough cough lockdowns. They couldn't take home the dev consoles they had in the office (for security reasons) so yes. In the end it got neglected and rushed during the final days.
I had the PS5 when this launched and I had no issues. In fact, I had no issues until they started patching it and even then it was stability at the most, would crash every 2 hrs or so and that lasted until 2.0 and then crashes were few and far between. Dead npcs would stretch on occasion, the doors on Judy’s van would disappear.

Key binds still haven't been fixed after 3 years. First person shadows are still bad. Civs dont react to honking your horn. They fixeda lot of stuff, but this is not the golden egg redemption story people are making it out to be just because they released a DLC and an anime.
I'm irked by people calling Cyberpunk 77 a redemption story. They fixed a broken game, so what? *They were supposed to!* Did the standard fall so low that an okay anime and 3 years of patches to bring the game to the state it was supposed to be on launch is enough for people to forgive CDPR and jump on the next hype bandwagon?
@@catpurrito5586 I never blamed the guys in the trenches in the first place, but let's not pretend that most of them are still at CDPR. I remember hearing about this game back then and was sooo excited to play it. Then the drama started, and was definitely a little disappointed. But I had a good feeling that they were going to work on it, and I'd buy it when it's looking better. It seems that day is finally getting extremely close.
My PC didnt have too many problems running it on release, it was one of my favorite games of all time then. The game was a masterpiece like a year after launch when they fixed pretty much all the issues. I played on PS5 which was a shitshow on launch but after a year the game was essentially bug free outside of a few rare instances of black texture glitches (which reloading a save would fix) or missing quest objectives (which reloading would also fix). Honestly the PC version now is buggier than the PS5 version was a few years ago.
The opposite kinds are also present, saying the game still sucks. There's a thin line between criticism and blind hatred, as well as one between praising and glazing.
They're gaslighted CDPR fanboys. They waited for patching then bragging about the "quality" of the game. Game is still bland. None of your choices matter and you're forced to do tedious repetitive NCPD tasks & side missions if you want best (cliffhanger) ending.
@@Sonilotos The only "blind hatred" is from Twitter. There's criticism. When we let games being given by EA and Ubi in very poor quality then everyone complains. But when CDPR does every CDPR fanboys comes with "Oh no, those will be fixed. Wait or patches. They'll fix all and bring them back." Well newsflash. All their bragging and showing never were given in final version. It's just reskinned Fallout 4 game set in the future with janky driving mechanic and every vehicle feels like an empty box. They fly like feathers instead of having any weight. WD Legion mechanic drives better with all cars having automatic driving. At least they have weight even when they silly hit into anything. Oh nd another thing. Why should we give money to greedy company who doesn't care to fix their game entirely and giving the game with lack of quality (none of choices matter and not having anything unique in it. Not even customizing cars like GTA SA-5) when modders can do it for free? We can give money to modders than to company who does it better than themselves. Just pirate the game anything from CDPR, Ubi & EA and support the modders. The game is still unfinished and plenty of interiors are left in the game.

The only "missing" feature that really remains in the game in my opinion is, as you said, the lack of customisation. I think the situation was quite similar to the case of No Man's Sky, except CDPR didn't have the excuse of being an unknown indie studio at that point, so the situation was even more unacceptable. The fact remains that the game should never have been released for last-gen consoles in the first place.
In addition, their studio has been flooded. Why did everyone forget that?
Also not a fan of how they handled last gen stuff. They claimed they'd fix things for those versions, but they never actually did, not really. Stupid of me to trust them, yeah, but I got the game as a gift and I wanted to believe it'd be properly updated for PS4 since so many other games still run great from the same couple years as CP2077(played Forbidden West and Elden Ring with basically no problems).
And yet lo and behold I realized a year later that I should've just gotten that refund and now I'm stuck with a useless piece of plastic trash. "But at least you can get the better version on PS5" My choom in Night City, I ain't dumping 550 bucks on a console I don't want and would otherwise never use for one fucking game I basically already played(especially when I got a handmedown PC from a friend that runs better than my PS4).
Either way I learned a good lesson that even good companies can burn you, so never trust them if you actually have a choice.
They basically became one of the corps they preach about in the game lol.

Even now there are visual glitches. Nothing game breaking though, just… normal game glitches. So, if you play the game start to finish without bugs, even today, you’re in the top .5%
Let alone on release.

@@FenrirAldebrand That's sad. I'm sorry for your loss. They should have taken care of such bugs.
idk about everyone else but i never had insanely terrible glitches at launch, i mustve gotten lucky but a huge boost was the performance and johnnys face changed to look way better
Today's Cyberpunk is good, we all can agree, but we can't forget that it still not close to what they promised
*They were supposed to!* Did the standard fall so low that an okay anime and 3 years of patches to bring the game to the state it was supposed to be on launch is enough for people to forgive CDPR and jump on the next hype bandwagon?
the dev earned their redemption. its the executives and shareholders who rushed the game that should be held responsible
For me is simple, late than never Stay positive.
@@catpurrito5586 I never blamed the guys in the trenches in the first place, but let's not pretend that most of them are still at CDPR.
The top brass is still the same, and the fact they are already spinning "the game was fine at launch, it was just popular to hate on it" doesn't inspire confidence.
A terrible anime which was just a long ad lol. Otherwise yup I feel the same
Many games are bad forever
11:52 the definition of mona lisa
4:38 lol bro I thought my Play Station turned off
This video was too funny, thanks a lot
I remember hearing about this game back then and was sooo excited to play it. Then the drama started, and was definitely a little disappointed. But I had a good feeling that they were going to work on it, and I'd buy it when it's looking better. It seems that day is finally getting extremely close.
They're done working on it...soooooo....any day now...
@pinkapollo5121 what? Like they're completely done?? Damn. Guess maybe I should pick it up now 🤔
@@KNOTTYBUDSit hasn’t been like this for like 2 years and then in the last year it’s one of the best games there is
If you got a ps5 then yeah its great. You might get a few bugs still if you play on ps4 but it should at least be playable.
6:43 fun fact this bug where Jackie isn’t actually holding a gun is still in the game to this day!
i didnt even know if my laptop was lagging or the game
real
Both, with this version it's always both
My PC didnt have too many problems running it on release, it was one of my favorite games of all time then. I finished the main story, the worst bug I encountered was Adam Smasher only taking damage every 3rd hit. Imagine how much more I fell in love with the game when I picked up the DLC last week and played 2.0.
Cyberpunk and Battlefront 2 2017 are my go to games for redemption arcs
Same. But throw in Fallout 76 and we're talking
And then they canceled bf2😢 oh well
@@someguy1865 still crap tbh
I think No Man's Sky take a cake here. Unlike Cyberpunk, which you wanted to play but couldn't due to the bugs, NMS you could play quite well but you didn't want to. It was one of the most boring game out there with literally nothing to do there. It's a completely different game now. There's a ton of content, enough to last you for dozens (if not hundreds) of hours
@@someguy1865fallout 76 is still shit. Its made by bethesda after all (no but seriously Bethesda can't make a good game to save their lives)
What a nice demonstration of how cyberpsychosis looks like!
The mistake Kevin refuses to let die
Oh my god this was SO rough on launch. I remember those days. I was one of the millions of preorders.
I love that even your PS5 was trying to save itself by shutting itself and refusing to play it.
10:30 LMAO 🤣 all that entire sequence is pure comedy
I am sorry, but nobody beats no man's sky redemption arc. Best comeback of all times. Period.
exactly, game litertally went from "fake" mp to actual real mp where you can see players.
no man sky redemption ark is worst that happened to gaming, thanks to this precedent now you can ship absolute trash product with no consequences, grab tons of cash and later fix the game, so people on internet would praise you for "working hard despite backlash" or some crap.
@@hardVatsuki yes well thats the game studios that look at this practice and copy it fault no mans sky was made be a tiny team of indie devs who made a mobile game b4 no mans sky the jump was huge from joe danger to no mans sky give them a break
@@bugboy9915 Why would you give a break to someone who is incompetent and shot way above their skill level?
The game was a masterpiece like a year after launch when they fixed pretty much all the issues. I played on PS5 which was a shitshow on launch but after a year the game was essentially bug free outside of a few rare instances of black texture glitches (which reloading a save would fix) or missing quest objectives (which reloading would also fix). Honestly the PC version now is buggier than the PS5 version was a few years ago.
Still a lot of people act as though this never happened. Saying the game was good from the get go.
They'll fix all and bring them back."
Well newsflash.
@@xXSilentAgent47Xx well, I didn't expect to come across my beloved GTA V OST channel under such circumstances.
I'll just say one thing: I love Cyberpunk 2077. I don't care if it isn't "what they promised" or yada yada. It's one of the most immersing and captivating games I've ever played, next to some other game series like GTA and Halo. The only "missing" feature that really remains in the game in my opinion is, as you said, the lack of customisation. Clearly the assets are there, judging by the NPC vehicles with all kinds of mods; but for some reason they didn't let us access it. Nonetheless, the game is definitely not "bland" or "incomplete".
Thanks for uploading the heist soundtracks btw, #3 is especially a banger
Sounds like PC players "my 5k rig ran this just fine "
My first time playing Cyberpunk was a year ago when they launched the Phantom Liberty DLC I was amazed and shocked how perfect this game is and idk there are so many criticizing until I watched it’s launched version 😂
Its just Johnny Silverhand messing with Vs head 😂
My best memory with this game was when i was driving with jackie and a yellow truck that was supposed have enemys shoot out from the back just... did not do that. It was just driving in front of me while jackie kept screaming at me to shoot them. Meanwhile i was stuck relaxing in my seat
6:45 i collapsed here 🤣🤣🤣
