Memorizing the cruise ship reminded me of this...when I was a teenager I went to a church that had a blind organist. The captain is so beautiful and looks in her 20s! Clearly life at sea really suits her! I know it’s different but would you say a cruse is accessibly for a wheelchair user? How high are the touch screens and buttons etc?
The cruise ship IS wheelchair accessible. It was so easy to get on and off. There is a form you fill out when booking reservations to let them know what assistance you may need. Not all ports are wheelchair accessible, but the itinerary will list which ones are if you want to explore. Highly recommended. I’ve been on 2 cruises within the last 3 years and a planning another one soon.
JenJen on wheels Cruises tend to be quite accessible to he point where theatres have designated wheelchair seating, and there’s specific wheelchair accessible rooms with wider entry hallways (if any), accessible showers etc.
I can't speak from personal experience, but as an anthropology major and based on the other comments in this thread, I would postulate that many cruise ships might be more wheelchair accessible than we might initially imagine because cruises are popular with the elderly and many elderly people are also wheelchair users. Does anyone know?
I’ve got a lot of wheelchair user friends who say that cruises are definitely the way to go for an accessible vacation. But I’m like.... eh, I’m worried about getting sick. Because I know cruise ships can be Petri dishes - as I’m sure we’ve all learned in the last three or four months. But my best mate still wants me to go on a cruise with her- she went on one with her hubby last year and loved it, and she said she could see how accessible it was, whereas hotels usually aren’t that great. I mean, I know people in very fancy and big motorised chairs, and they don’t have issues, where they usually do in hotels (or even houses that don’t have wide enough doors or hallways).
I love the captain of the ship she is so down to earth even tho she is the captain of a ship this size and how big of a personality she is. And I love how welcoming she is and how cute her friendship with molly is I loved this whole video. I love the little detail of brail because it is so important to be accessible to everyone and it is so minuscule but so important I loved it
She was so inspiring! I googled her and watched a news clip about her when she first became captain in 2015. Apparently her husband is a Chief Engineer on a different ship!
I think it's because she is very happy. I've noticed that some people, like my childhood pastor and most of my college professors, are so genuinely happy - in large part because they do what they love - that they almost give off a calming energy, even if they're a very animated person, and they are also very warm, lovely people I can literally listen to for hours. (I'm not a big 'energy' person but I'm not so married to science that I'll lie to myself about what I observe.) Obviously I also know lots of people who are unhappy or depressed or only middling happy or stuck in a crap job and have these fine qualities, but there does seem to be a correlation of some kind between "significant personal fulfillment" and the specific vibe I'm describing, as of Captain Kate.
My pup gives me sass about going in a non-grass part of the yard, like I'm SOOOOOO MEAN for not letting her use the grass... so she'd probably hold it for the first 2.5 days in protest, tbh... wouldn't be the first time!!
If they can't find a way for the normal rooms to be accessible They should have a room that is made for people that are deaf/blind, so everything is in braille or has a voice. And so it is wheelchair accessible.
From what I understand, it would probably just be easier/better to make all the rooms accessible, especially since she only talked about the touchscreens and those can easily be worked around if they fix up the app. If they specialized some rooms, they would at some point feasibly lose money not booking it for a passenger without disabilities, or have more people who need those rooms than they have specialized rooms. It might also be more expensive to design and implement multiple room types than to just make all accessible. That's why all ATMs have Braille keys - even the ones in the drive-through.
Unrealistic to have every room be wheelchair accessible. The size difference between the two rooms is surprisingly different. The amount of guests you could have on a ship would be cut dramatically and by extension the amount of money the cruise line makes.
Your brother is so sweet! I love that he said, "We're not going on a vacation unless we can bring Gallop." That right there means he adores him. Part of the family. 🥰😍
That captain is so amazing! It’s so cool to see a female captain! And her little naked kitty too! I’m really glad that the cruise ship is so accommodating to Molly and other disabled. Having gone on cruises before they really are really helpful and nice! Loved watching another great video from Molly & Gallop 💗 Also love and light to momma Bee🐝
Totally crazy but I was on this cruise with you! I wasn’t sure it was you at first but this definitely confirms it! We were there celebrating my mom’s 60th too, how crazy!! It’s so neat to see where gallop pees because it was a question I had while on the ship! I was also there in the club the night Gallop was dancing! He is amazing ❤️❤️ I had no clue about the braille under the railings. That’s so neat. The app actually had controls for your tv and lights but it was a tiny button to get to the control page... so it wouldn’t have been easy to find especially with how the accessibility features were terrible. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the cruise as much as we did!!! Xoxo
As a visually impaired person I’ve been Contemplating doing a cruise with my husband. This helps me work out details. I grew up on a boat... and have always been visually impaired but as I grow older my vision is worsening.

We have 2 Sphynxes, or hairless cats, and I tell people that they feel like the finest suede you have ever felt. Our cats are harness and stroller trained, and people who meet them fall in love!
0:43 I got SO exided when Molly said "my boyfriend" because I thought she got a new boyfriend, and then she gestured to Gallop and I was like *oh right! How could I forget?!*
I have a friend that breeds Sphynx cats and I've never thought they felt like a peach lol I feel kind of weird petting them cuz I feel like all I'm doing is irritating their skin.... Like I need to use some massage oils for them to enjoy it hahaha
Just last year I went on a carnival cruise and they were having what people told me was a "BLINDED CONVENTION". They said they have had it for the past 30 years. I meet a few amazing people there and most had guide dogs. Shout out to Molly Burke for spreading awareness of guide dogs.
When I was a waitress I worked an event to raise money for blind awareness or something like that( it’s been a few years since then so I don’t remember exactly what the event was). Well they had the guest if they wanted to they could wear blind folds during the dinner. I had two tables of six wear there bind folds all night and we had to tell them exactly where there food was on there plates and put all the plates the exact same way on the tables. This event was so much fun and I’m so glad I did it cause before that I didn’t know how to properly interact with blind people when they are in a restaurant.
That would really highlight the importance of being specific to them when giving directions or instructions. There's nothing like experiencing it to realize how much it matters
I’m getting my second guide dog soon (after a ten year break) and I am an avid cruiser. It’s so wonderful to know that cruise lines are becoming more accepting and accomodating of service animals! Thanks for posting this. I’m Australian
I think that is so cool that you memorized where everything was on the cruise ship! I have trouble remembering where things are even though I have my sight. I love how you are so open about your disability and it makes me feel less alone dealing with dysnomia/short term memory issues.
Thank you, Molly and Gallup, for this wonderful post on Facebook. The Captain impressed me with her attention to making you feel comfortable and allowed you share your tour and conversation with her! Love the beautiful hairless cat. Great informative and experience video. God bless you and your family, Captain Kate and her Crew.
I just want to say since I just bumped into your videos yesterday and I am completely taken with how bright and alive, honest, straightforward and fun you are. You are also very beautiful- what a beautiful face and skin - wow. I am the 73 year old massage therapist that commented yesterday on one of your videos incase you have no idea who I am. You are also so very kind and caring of Gallop- I love it. Thanks for being you and sharing. You are a delight.
Just wanted to start by saying you're the. My step-dad is legally blind, so I completely understand a lot of the videos that you make about irritating questions. You're amazing.
Captain Kate is such an amazing and inspirational woman. Met her a couple times while cruising Celebrity, which is the only cruise line I travel on. Glad you got to experience her and celebrity, cause they are awesome.
That’s so cool that the captain was a follower of yours! And it’s even cooler this cruise ship was so accessible! I’m glad Gallop got to really enjoy himself too! Hopefully he didn’t mind the hairless cat lol

Lyn Hardman having an Information Technologist aboard ship to Specifically Address the Accessibility issues to the App, might be a huge asset to consider for this particular Cruise Ship.
i’m so glad that you had a positive experience with a cruise line being accessible! i was on a cruise back in november with my grandparents and it was so difficult for me to get them any sort of help and i was not satisfied with the accessibility on the ship. my grandmother can not walk very far or stand very long and she has dementia so she is in constant need of help pretty much, and trying to get her a wheelchair on board was actually so difficult! but i’m glad that you had a positive experience!!! i will never be going on a cruise again actually because of what happened on that cruise.
I love how inclusive your family is and how much they advocate for you like it's a no brainer, like if he can't go - we can't go. Unfortunately not all people, not all families are that considerate of each other and of their members. So I really love your family for that and love you spreading that message and way of being.
There’s a guide dog user who sometimes comes on the JoCo Cruise, and I learnt that on our Holland America ship, the pee spot for service dogs (which I think is on the back deck; I didn’t go look) had a cute little fire hydrant. 😃
I love watching all of these videos from different creators with different backgrounds and abilities like Molly, or Jessica to gain insight into other viewpoints. I think it really helps non-disabled people understand and have more empathy while existing out in the world. I am a sighted and hearing individual with an "invisible" disability. While I grew up volunteering with the special Olympics and helping kids with with mental disabilities, having more perspective on individuals with less obvious physical disabilities, i feel, makes me a more compassionate person. Love you, Molly burke.
Hi Molly, I'm Jordan, I'm from Toronto! I just stumbled on your Allure video, it was amazing to watch. My mom spent her whole life working with people who have developmental disabilities, whether it be physical, mental or a combination of both. It has always made me aware of the fact that people are different from myself but how at the same point we are all the same, it was an incredible lesson to learn as a kid growing up. I have always wanted to become a guide dog trainer, I think it is amazing what freedom a guide dog can give, and the commands they can learn to be of assistance, anyone living with disabilities. Currently I work in a veterinary clinic where we have guide dog patients. One of our clients knows exactly who I am soon as I start talking to her, and she remembered me by name the first time I spoke to her upon returning after leaving the clinic for 2 years! I'm sorry I'm rambling! The client though would go on cruises for work often with her guide dog & I have always wondered what that would be like and to watch this video really brought that to light for me. I love watching your videos about how you access the world around you as that is what has always been the most fascinating part to me when asking our blind clients about how they live their lives! Thank You for making these videos!
Hi Molly! I'm a Molly too, legally blind since birth. I'm 56F, living in FL. I'm going on a cruise next year, so I'm researching. Your video was SOOOO helpful! So awesome you got to meet the captain and wear her hat! Gallop on the dance floor was the best though.
cruise ships in general are just amazing!!! they actually tagged my key card somehow to mention that i was vegetarian, so every time we went out to eat they gave me the vegetarian menu! so i'm pretty sure they did something similar with you so that restaurant workers could accommodate :D
I wish we could do this in everyday life but at least I know my favorite places know I'm vegan & will ask me which of the usual orders I'd like & tell me when they get new stuff I might like. But to have like a Starbucks card you can scan where it comes up with allergies, needs and diet stuff would be great. Maybe even having favorites and stuff in there could work you could scan it first & then be like "I'll have the last order" & it's on the card. Would also make those who can't communicate easily have it easier as it could have a whole "hi I'm x, I can't speak but my usual orders are xyz and I'll hold up 1, 2 or 3 fingers to indicate which of these I'd like" kinda thing. Would mean even if the staff don't know asl etc they can still easily communicate and such. Especially when it comes to food or clothing stores this would help.
Thank you for being my blind friend and sharing your life experience and your experience as a blind woman. You make me feel empowered to advocate for others- I am sighted- but I know some people struggle to self-advocate and when you bring up things like a touchscreen thermostat or lights or elevator- that is so important to share!! My workplace is innovating and that’s definitely something I want to make sure is thought of when we remodel our new spaces to be high-tech.
I've travelled with Celebrity Cruises from Australia to New Zealand and it was the most positive experience ever! The ship is more than a 5-star-hotel, the staff is wonderful, the rooms are really beautiful, the entertainment and organisation are on point! So they weren't treating her extra special because she's a celebrity and could get something out of her, in case anyone thought that, they are just a really lovely company!
I hope you've brought up your concerns with the cruise line so they can improve their accesability even more. maybe even redo some rooms for visually impared people without the touch screens. And fix the app.
I love how Molly is just living her best life, she keeps saying yes to the world and yes to life. Swimming, cruising, interviewing instafamous captains, I'm loving it!
Oh my goodness! Molly I can't believe you got to meet and chat with Captain Kate! She was my captain on a cruise last summer! hope you and your family had a wonderful time!
I have been on like 8 cruises, and have seen service dogs. I have ALWAYS wondered where they go potty- so thank you for this!! Glad you guys had a great time and the ship was accessible for you!
Its so cool that the captain of the ship is a female. Always fun to see women that are able to do what men can do. Like when people film their pets and they sound like they're saying people words. "I love you!" and "Hello" and stuff like that. Fills my heart with joy.
So Molly, my husband shared this with in March, because I am a cruise person and dog person. I quickly learned that I am a Molly person. Thank you for sharing your life, hair and love.

Sounds like the crew was trained really well, even maybe had some training on how to help disabled people and service dogs. It's amazing that they have a place for the dogs to go to the bathroom and also helped you out! Very high tech, hopefully they can take your struggles with the lights and elevators and work to make it more accessible.
My grandpa and my Mom would be thrilled about the fact you got to see the bridge of a cruise ship!! My Canadian mom- grew up in South Korea mostly and as far as I can tell most of their journeys back and forth until Mom was like 18(?)- were on boats, not cruise ships, but boats- I think at least one had a pool if I recall mom's stories. But Mom told me that sometimes on boats Grandpa would say something to an officer on the boat about him having I think worked in the Navy(?) and Grandpa and "the kids" including Mom got to see the "bridge" of the ship.

The captain is so beautiful and looks in her 20s! Clearly life at sea really suits her!
I know it’s different but would you say a cruse is accessibly for a wheelchair user? How high are the touch screens and buttons etc?
Me and my family went on a cruise and my mother is in a wheelchair and they were very accessible
I love the little detail of brail because it is so important to be accessible to everyone and it is so minuscule but so important I loved it
Yes she is. She made a special trip to make sure my 3 yr old could meet her.
She was so inspiring! I googled her and watched a news clip about her when she first became captain in 2015. Apparently her husband is a Chief Engineer on a different ship!

Molly, in case no one told you, Captain Kate’s badge says “Please don’t call it a boat” 😂
Oh my gods. Yes it does. I had to go back and look. 10:05 you can see it for anyone else curious. Might be better angles but that's the one I found.
A little after 13:00, too, but it's a bit blurry
I have been cringing every time she says boat... She's a newbie so I'll let it go. Good for Captain Kate for clarifying
Me an ocean engineering student: so this boat
My Professor: -_-
Me: 👁👄👁 sO tHiS sHiP
Elizabeth Johnson you’re being so mean by lying 🤥 you can’t read it
I’ve definitely got a crush on that elegant captain now 😂 She’s fabulous and has a wonderful way of carrying herself
The captain was such a captivating person, she had such a beautiful warm voice and face
(I'm not a big 'energy' person but I'm not so married to science that I'll lie to myself about what I observe.)
Obviously I also know lots of people who are unhappy or depressed or only middling happy or stuck in a crap job and have these fine qualities, but there does seem to be a correlation of some kind between "significant personal fulfillment" and the specific vibe I'm describing, as of Captain Kate.
She also has a cat
She looks just like Sandra Bullock
@@Nekoinuhanyou she does

The claddah ring she is wearing indicates she is in a relationship though, so there's someone!!!!
Same! Glad I found this comment because I was too lazy to type it out! Lol
Gallop wearing a cruise ship hat is everything 🥰😍
The fact that it belongs to the hairless cat
When Molly mentioned how she was the one who navigated where things would be on the ship I thought, "Blind leading the sighted."
Xoxo
that's awesome, congrats on spotting her! hope your cruise was fun!

What week was it when you went? And where did you go?
As a visually impaired person I’ve been Contemplating doing a cruise with my husband. This helps me work out details.
I grew up on a boat... and have always been visually impaired but as I grow older my vision is worsening.
Molly is there memorizing the entire ship in 2 hours..I would like to know if her brain is for rent for finals week at university.
Lol I I’m also a VI Person & everyone, EVERYONE says that I have an incredible memory!
Like you said, our senses are enhanced.
As a kid I always described them as superpowers. 😂
Sorry I’ve already booked it 😂
Maleeka Abbas Wow I also have vision loss and I have a great memory I never thought of it being heightened senses
THE CAPTAIN HAS BEEN ON FOR 24 YEARS. she looks so young!!
“Its not just for us celebrities” love that 😂

I still want to know if the hairless cat actually felt like peaches
Update: she confirmed on her Instagram that it did
I had one they do feel like that
We have 2 Sphynxes, or hairless cats, and I tell people that they feel like the finest suede you have ever felt. Our cats are harness and stroller trained, and people who meet them fall in love!
That would totally be what I'd name it 😛
0:43 I got SO exided when Molly said "my boyfriend" because I thought she got a new boyfriend, and then she gestured to Gallop and I was like *oh right! How could I forget?!*
but did the hairless cat feel like a peach??
Yes!
Nope a demon.😈
I want one so bad omg
@@PanickedPluto same 😭 I've wanted one for years and name him/her jally (short for jalapeno because cats are spicy lil things)
I have a friend that breeds Sphynx cats and I've never thought they felt like a peach lol I feel kind of weird petting them cuz I feel like all I'm doing is irritating their skin.... Like I need to use some massage oils for them to enjoy it hahaha
That captain is so inspiring for young girls that watch you, thanks for sharing her
Just last year I went on a carnival cruise and they were having what people told me was a "BLINDED CONVENTION".
I love that the captain has her cat with her, she seems great
I’m getting my second guide dog soon (after a ten year break) and I am an avid cruiser. It’s so wonderful to know that cruise lines are becoming more accepting and accomodating of service animals! Thanks for posting this. I’m Australian
Good luck with your new guide dog!
I think that is so cool that you memorized where everything was on the cruise ship! I have trouble remembering where things are even though I have my sight. I love how you are so open about your disability and it makes me feel less alone dealing with dysnomia/short term memory issues.
I hate short-term memory loss! Ugh!~
Thank you, Molly and Gallup, for this wonderful post on Facebook. The Captain impressed me with her attention to making you feel comfortable and allowed you share your tour and conversation with her! Love the beautiful hairless cat. Great informative and experience video. God bless you and your family, Captain Kate and her Crew.
did anyone else almost die when she said 'and my boyfriend...'
What’s so surprising? Disabled people can have partners..
victoria she meant the dog...
victoria she never said they couldn’t..she was just saying she was shocked because she said it so casually then pointed to gallop
Your other videos about how you do certain things especially with technology help help, I've watched the videos and was able to get my dad using some of this new technology a lot easier. You're amazing.
Omg was I the first comment?!?!
Thank you!
Wait, she’s the what?
Captain Kate is such an amazing and inspirational woman. Met her a couple times while cruising Celebrity, which is the only cruise line I travel on. Glad you got to experience her and celebrity, cause they are awesome.
That’s so cool that the captain was a follower of yours! And it’s even cooler this cruise ship was so accessible! I’m glad Gallop got to really enjoy himself too! Hopefully he didn’t mind the hairless cat lol
I think about dark stuff most of the time, but when i want some pick me up, i listen to Molly. She has such a soothing voice and a happy-go-lucky way of thinking, just gives me that extra light in the long tunnel i am in.
Did you tell the captain about the app not being accessible, she could pass on the info to the powers that be.
Oh you know shes watched this! Lol.
Lyn Hardman having an Information Technologist aboard ship to Specifically Address the Accessibility issues to the App, might be a huge asset to consider for this particular Cruise Ship.
she will probably watch this video anyways
The captain probably watched the video
i’m so glad that you had a positive experience with a cruise line being accessible! i was on a cruise back in november with my grandparents and it was so difficult for me to get them any sort of help and i was not satisfied with the accessibility on the ship. my grandmother can not walk very far or stand very long and she has dementia so she is in constant need of help pretty much, and trying to get her a wheelchair on board was actually so difficult! but i’m glad that you had a positive experience!!! i will never be going on a cruise again actually because of what happened on that cruise.
LOVE the captain’s name tag.
“ Captain. Please don’t call it a boat”
Haha, people always call it boats and it just makes it feel much smaller😂
I love that when we first saw the captain she just drops “after I jumped from that plane..” like HELOOOOO??? I need to HEAR THAT STORY!!
Molly: "Yesterday we sat with the captain for like two hours..." My silly brain: "But who was sailing the ship?!"
Cat's Meow me toooooooo
I work on a cruise ship (not this company though) and sooooooo many people ask this question it's crazy 😅
Of course the hairless cat was duh why else would she bring him!!
Isn’t it obvious,the cat!
They always have multiple captains so the other ones can take breaks.
Time out
How has the captain been out to sea 24yrs when she is clearly only 20yrs old
No she’s in her late 30s to early 40s
She’s 42!
I love how inclusive your family is and how much they advocate for you like it's a no brainer, like if he can't go - we can't go. Unfortunately not all people, not all families are that considerate of each other and of their members. So I really love your family for that and love you spreading that message and way of being.
Dude nobody needs to know where the dog pees, however I’ve never been more curious about anything in my life
Chicken Nugget quarantine life
There’s a guide dog user who sometimes comes on the JoCo Cruise, and I learnt that on our Holland America ship, the pee spot for service dogs (which I think is on the back deck; I didn’t go look) had a cute little fire hydrant. 😃
the secret braille makes me unreasonably happy. I would've never noticed, that's SO cool!
*love & light to everyone reading this* 🕊
I love watching all of these videos from different creators with different backgrounds and abilities like Molly, or Jessica to gain insight into other viewpoints.
Gallop dancing has made everyone's heart grow three sizes.
I’d use this cruise line just because of how accommodating and sweet they were.
Oh my goodness I laughed so hard when the camera showed Gallup in his mini captains hat 😂❤️
I was so amazed when she memorized the whole ship, because I have lived in my dads house for 4 1/2 years and I still get lost 😂
I love how Molly is just living her best life, she keeps saying yes to the world and yes to life. Swimming, cruising, interviewing instafamous captains, I'm loving it!
I'm so glad you shared your trip with us. It was beautiful and exciting and I'm really glad your family, Gallop and yourself took a nice vacation.
Oh my goodness! Molly I can't believe you got to meet and chat with Captain Kate! She was my captain on a cruise last summer! hope you and your family had a wonderful time!
Absolutely love my fabulous Molly Burke ❤️💜🧡💛💚💙🤍
This was the most awesome interview, I’ve been on 10 cruises and never met the Captain. You were so lucky!!!
Am so glad you were able to take your beautiful guide dog with you on the cruise ship. That is wonderful. Gallop looked like he had a lovely time too.
The captain seems like such an awesome person
So Molly, my husband shared this with in March, because I am a cruise person and dog person. I quickly learned that I am a Molly person. Thank you for sharing your life, hair and love.

I'm impressed at how you managed to go through the whole ship AND memorize it within 2 hours! And it was so cool that the captain was following you! She seems really nice.
And I like your penguin pijamas!
I love that there is one beautiful purple flower in the middle of the bouquet. Definitely stands out from the rest.. which is so fitting for you. 💜😍
