Nice. Finally someone who realized it's not a static block. Now you have to find the counter attack that is built in. Try to think about it as a method of bridging and you'll find it (coming from there, there are also some nice places to put the non-weapon-hand with actual use). Lakasan mo pa! 😁

3:10 - yes, you fractured your forearm, but you didn't fracture your skull. That's a win in my book

What is your opinion on the reverse umbrella though (hand turned and sidestep to other side)?

I've been thinking about how to properly answer this since you asked it. I'm not sure how to properly answer it over text. I'll try and sort my thoughts out and make a video soon.
The problem is it's such an awkward thing to do that it's hard to test it in sparring. And doing it in a drill form like how to described it means you've got to be alot closer.
Let me think about how best to answer this in a video.
Thank you for the great question though 🙏

Yup it is. But that's a partner drill. It works in that very specific context.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it doesn't work. I'm saying it's a little more nuanced than that.

Put some sabres in your hands you would be fencing.
