To keep them in place and prevent them from moving through the bolt holes. Try it without twisting the wires and pull on the wires. Then redo it properly.
at 2:31 you mean? The last twist for the pig tail should be left hand, or counter clockwise. This will help keep the wire from coming up over the top of the bolt head.
chris mueller I work on aircrafts, the wire is supposed to be about 4 twists of length as the length for the pigtail. That is why it is too longs, because the 2 of us work with safety wire all the time, we know how long it is supposed to be.
I failed on my damn aircraft powerplant 1 laboratory because of a wrong hole gosh darn it. But big helppp post moreee
Thanks for the help
I wish my lead hand would let me do pig tails like that. I always screw up the tails.
Why do the wires need to be twisted?
To strengthen and keep tension

See 0:06.
1-1/2 pig tail...thats seems to long.
I want to buy a board where I can practice safety wire and cotter pin. Does anyone have any clue where to find something like that?
Make one. Looks like they are using a piece 3/4 shelf board. Drill holes and add fasteners.
your instruction says rotate clockwise on the ending twist... looks to me like you went counter?? how critical is it on which direction it ends up?

You change directions at each stage of the wire job
Er, "pull taught". Huh?? People are "taught" something like wire locking e.g. How about "pull taut"?
Were the instructions proper, in general?
That pigtail was tooo big
Why do you say that? Check AC 43.13-1B page 7-313
I do this for a living and believe me that pig tail is too big...no offense
"This is wrong because I said it's wrong" isn't a helpful response. Why do you think it's too big?

Dreaded_Pegasus doesn't matter, it's not gonna make the bolts come off either way.
