Matt picked the crappy Tobermory, this absolute winner is (again) my pick. I mean, how could it not.

LOVE this beauty!! Fabulous thoughts/video!! Fabulously delicious brisket, maple syrup (not too sweet - not a sweet scotch fan), amazingly mossy peat!! Much appreciated!! 🙂 $340 Canadian before taxes! I have 3. Worth every penny!!

No surprise, that I have never tasted this 19 yo Ballechin. And chances are that I never will tbh.
But fwiw I have a 12 yo STFC Ballechin Oloroso cask (WB207710) in my collection. I bought it, because I was courious about the Ballechin range, and I didn't have anything from that range in my collection (actually nothing from Edradour at all). Oh, and the WB rating is solid at 88.40, so how could I not be tempted?
But. That peat style was (is?) just not for me, I guess.
No maritime notes in that bottle. At all. No brine, no sea weed, no salt, nothing. Without the "coastal" notes to balance and "tame" it, it's really just meh and not really interesting to me for a peated whisky. I would love to think otherwise, but I just don't. I'm just not impressed by the burnt-wood-and-ashy-Highland-style-kinda-peat tbh, it needs something to stand up to it.
The fill level is below the shoulders by now, so I've put it way back on the shelf with the open bottles collection, and then I'll get back to it in a year (or 2). Maybe it will develop in the bottle with some oxygene - and/or maybe my palate will change a bit, so I'll enjoy it. And maybe neither will happen. Anyways, I'll get back to it in a year or two, and if I still don't like it, I'll get over it too.
But for now, it's one of the most disappointing bottles in my collection without me considering it "bad".
At least it wasn't anything close to 340$ or 165£, I just checked - and it was "just" approx. 100$, which is approx. 80£ but, you'll probably have to decuct up to 20% from the price in order to compare it to British prices (due to excise duties on alcohol and Danish VAT), so my best guess the price in the UK would not even exceed 70£.
Sorry - another comment that got a bit out of hand (a specialty on my part... not the first and most certainly not the last time).
    Cheers Stuart!

Don't worry about the long comments 👍
It's a shame you weren't enjoying that Ballechin. Edradour, however, has never failed me. The only downside to Edradour is some of the pricing, but they usually offer quality whiskies. Plus, the signatory range is astounding.
      Cheers 👍
