Or you can wait for a few corners because you are faster anyway. Vettel is really making to many mistakes this season, maybe its the pressure maybe it's something else, I dont know.
2008 and 2012 should be excluded because the main breaker were crashes they had no control over. But 2010, 2017 and 2018 are defintely years were they screwed up royally. Though Vettel himself is also making mistakes left and right that's unbelievable.
5 seconds wasn’t enough for that. Should have been a stop and go. Also his radio message was disgraceful. Kimi should wait because Max drove off the circuit? He’s such a twat
+Gopr311 Yes, he should have waited. It's not that fucking easy to control a car coming off of the grass. Verstappen did his best to leave space but simply couldn't. If he hadn't rejoined the track then, he would have been at the back of the pack. Kimi could have waited half a second to see where Verstappen's car was headed and gone the other way, instead he tried to push on the outside without knowing. Don't get me wrong, it's still Verstappens fault, but it wasn't malicious and Kimi could have helped avoiding the incident. Therefore a 5 second penalty is plenty.
He wasn't at fault though. Both party was wrong. He may sound like a prick asking Kimi to wait but Kimi himself acknowledges that it was partly his fault for being too eager which caused him to mount Verstappen's RB. Both sides were wrong in technical sense but because it was Max that caused the accident, Max got the penalty, which is fair.
Overall a semi good race. While the top 5 was pretty static, there was plenty of overtakes, incidents etc. in the midfield. I was expecting worse from Suzuka honestly.
Why max is being such a hypocrite? He said that Kimi should have waited for him to join the track and just let him go by. We all know Max would be the last driver to do so. So why he expects others to do something he himself would't do?
Why are people on the internet so dense? Max did not say he should wait and let him infront, what he meant was kimi should have waited like a second and then he should have seen where max would go.. and then he could cut into the inside of the corner and passed max easy.
@@Sajuuk9 You mean like Singapore last year when Max took out both Ferrari's. So in that instance he should have backed off. You fucking Verstappen fanboys have as many excuses as he does.
@@Firemarioflower the problem is that Mercedes is so far ahead that Verstappen doesn't get a chance to mess around with them. Another problem is that Ferrari always has red bulls in the way while they try to catch up to Mercedes.
Vettel crumbling under pressure making stupid mistakes like we have seen all season , It’s no good defending him and saying Hamilton has the faster car when he has driven flawlessly , Vettel is not worthy of a world champion this season but Hamilton is, FACT
Have to agree. Bottas has the same car and even he can't drive at the same level as Lewis. This season has just been a master class on driving skill. The Mercedes team has also been superior in their strategies and cohesion. Ferrari really need a to reflect on what went wrong this season and make some changes. Their cars are clearly competitive but they need to work on the human factor in order to be a contender.
To be honest I was quite disappointed by Vettel's recent races in his performance. I know its a mix of misfortunes and mistakes here and there. But no matter what my heart will always be with Ferrari and Vettel.
Thats just not true since he has been in much more dire situations before and did well, however he knows to make the championship realistic to win he has to be risky because mechanical failure doesnt happen often in the merc team and hamilton is an extremely consistent driver.
Maybe Magnussen will stop making these crazy moves while defending, now that he was involved in a crash, ruining Leclerc's race. Also, this was the third time this year Vettel had contact with another driver because of a desperate move ( with Bottas in France, with Hamilton in Italy and now with Verstappen).
Untasfasfled Formula One's "Crash Kid", as Martin Whitmarsh dubbed him. Wonder how long before Vettel is out the revolving door at Ferrari, as seems certain LeClerc will quickly out-shine him.
For me I think the pressure of working Ferrari got to him as we all know Ferrari havent won the title in 10 years now make that 11 so any driver that comes in will be expected to bring back the glory days it happened with Alonso in his Ferrari years runner up to the title a few times and then gets frustrated with the team and move on and if Vettel is to leave Ferrari I think Mercedes will pick him up cos German team-German driver.
Vettel had to risk but it didnt happen. For those who put the blame on Max (including my man P. de la Rosa), I can give you a few points: - Vettel chose to overtake in 1 of the fastest corners in the track, a 1 line corner which gives you almost no reaccion time for Max to see him - He decided to dive even tho he wasnt even side by side when he starts braking, so its already a very risky move which you can do against a sauber, force india... but not against Max in a competitive car - In any moment Vettel was ahead of Max, or even fully side by side. So it was never his corner - Max did good enough to even see him last moment and give 1 car space but Vettel was going wide and understeered into him twice In the end thats racing, agressive wheel to wheel action at high speeds, but I dont think Max could do anything else but getting out of the way completly, and a top driver will never do that I´d say 60 to 80% on Vettel but nothing you can do now, he really had to go all in.. many wrong decisions/ mistakes this year tho What do you think about it??
he was 50 points behind, he has to take risks he normally wouldnt take to still win the championship. it could have worked , and then nobody would say anything, but sometimes it doesnt.
MinigunGaming Well maybe that is due to ferrari. Kimi has had many retirements because of ferrari and has had the role of a speed bumb for mercedes by ferrari not allowing Kimi to pit. Ferrari is so focused on their golden boy, they've stopped giving a fuck about Kimi. Put Kimi on the 1st driver spot and the championship will be much closer.
It's simply a matter of a contract. Vettel already has one which means he is set to stay at Ferrari until 2020 - and I have a feeling Ferrari regrets that now. Vettel signed this three year contract in August 2017 and back then he was leading the 2017 championship by 14 points and looked as if he would be 2017 champion. Turns out he lost the 2017 title. Now he has all but lost the 2018 title too and mostly through his own errors. Ferrari can't fire Vettel because he has a contract until 2020. Kimi didn't have a contract for 2019 so he simply had to be sacrificed to let the new guy Leclerc drive for the team. Had Vettel not had a contract for 2019 then I believe he'd have to go too or they'd keep Kimi as a mentor to Leclerc. Here's why I wouldn't want to be Vettel the next two years. Ferrari probably are disillusioned by him by now and will probably give Leclerc the blessing to race him freely. Should Leclerc come out on top then Vettel will find himself in experiencing the same support role Raikkonen has for the last seasons at Ferrari.
True, they did terminate Kimi Raikkonen's contract for 2010 and paid him as if he was still driving for them. They also fired Prost before the 1991 season was over, this is one of the reasons for his 1992 sabbatical since all good seats were already taken. Vettel will really be under pressure for 2019 because if he keeps making mistakes they won't just let that pass. They'll focus on Leclerc, providing he's any good, and try to muscle Vettel out. It's also quite possible Vettel has a performance related contracted claiming he can break the contract at will should the car turn out to be bad. Right now he hasn't had that excuse for two straight seasons.
Hamilton can win the championship in the US if: He finishes 1st and Vettel finishes 3rd He finishes 2nd and Vettel finishes 5th He finishes 3rd and Vettel finishes 7th He finishes 4th and Vettel finishes 8th He finishes 5th and Vettel finishes 9th He finishes 6th and Vettel doesn’t scorce
That won't matter to people who actually think that there's a conspiracy against Ferrari. There's nothing that the FIA would like more than for the most recognizable brand in motorsports to actually be competitive. But that doesn't mean they should get a pass on things likes this just to make them competitive.
Yeah but Max spanked Kimi on the side and he affected massively his race...and one more think, he didnt do it in grass, he locked up and he decided on his own to cut the chicane.
@@82Jaster no idea what you are talking about. Ferrari having success is good for the sport as there is a huge Ferrari following all over the world. Ferrari not winning makes a lot of fans turn off.
@@fireup9224 That's what I was saying. Some are convinced that FIA making this ruling was part of an anti-Ferrari conspiracy. But that makes no sense because Ferrari is the biggest brand in motorsports. So FIA would love nothing more than for that brand to be competitive against Mercedes.
I’ve been Ferrari fan since forever and i still will be but after this season i can safely say Hamilton drives with much more skill than vettel, he’s the better driver
The championship was already over again. Then Vettel goes and crashes. The bad thing was I didnt even feel any emotion when he hit Max that's how bad it is, I'm tired of saying oh well there's next year, hopefully Ferrari dont screw over Leclerc with strategy because I honestly dont know if Vettel can do it anymore, I say the championship is over already by the next race
ferrari long time fan here, felt the same way, already knew the championship was over, what I caught from the commentators is that ferrari said they were going to change some things (people?) at the end of the season, hopefully Leclerc comes to a better team PS: where vettel crashed I just laughed, did not how else to feel
So disappointing...Ferrari had the advantage for the majority of the season, but so many mistakes one after another, race after race, both strategic errors from the team, and driver errors that do not befit a 4-times world champion. I think after this year, Ferrari's managementi will have serious doubt about Vettel's ability. There was already a speck of suspicion about that when Marchionne was alive, that's why he lined up Leclerc for Kimi's seat, so I don't think Vettel would automatically get the No.1 status.

Enrique Gonzalez exactly we never see these hypocrites complain there. Also golden state and cavs in finals for FOUR YEARS A ROW and not one person complained. But when its f1 now they complain. Bunch of hypocrites. So shocked!
How on Earth what Magnussen did can go un-penalized is baffling and beyond ridiculous. What does need to happen before they start to hand out penalties for these unnecessarily risky last-minute blocking moves at high-speed? The precedent was set a couple of years ago by the lack of penalty for the infamous Verstappen-Raikkonen incident on the Kemmel straight. At this rate, someone's going to get hurt sooner or later. Extremely idiotic move from Magnussen. Does he want to get to the heaven or what? - Verstappen shouldn’t have re-joined the track that quickly. He should’ve used a straighter line to re-join the track a bit later. That’s how the incident was entirely avoidable, but of course, he chose the way that would with a 99% guarantee lead to a contact with another car. Crashtappen, as well as the crash kid, strike again.
It would actually have been inconsistent and unfair if he was penalized for that, as it is allowed within the rules and potential collisions are deemed as racing incidents. If Verstappen can get away with it then why can't Magnussen?
What I say to you, watch F1 closely & know its rules.... anyways in F1 if the guilty car retire just after the incident generally no penalty is given as he is already out of the race. Its common sense, what will mag do with +5s/ 10s penalty as his car is sitting in the garage retired. But if the incident is serious he may get warning after the race or may get grid penalty on next race or may get super license penalty etc...
this season very much reminds me like 1995 season and "championship battle" between Schumacher and Hill.Schumacher and Benetton were working like clockwork while Hill and Williams were exchanging mistakes even when they had a potential straight up victory. The only differences is that here Hamilton have a stronger car and that Vettel didn't crashed him out ... yet
I'm surprised I've seen nobody comment this; Seb could have avoided that crash with Max by following him through spoon then using his much faster car to slip him down toward 130R and make an overtake anywhere up until the chicane...I mean come on, overtaking Max in a high speed corner like Spoon is always going to be very risky, and what I just proposed was not as risky...its not like it happened at 90% distance it was lap 8!! WHERE was the rush to get to the Mercedes at lap 8!! One more laps patience and he wouldn't have been at the back

he DIDNT NEED to pass Max on track, he already had his position because of the penalty. all he had to do was wait
Watching the two Red Bull’s of Verstappen and Riccardo flying really was a sight to see.
1000 and 1 ways of the losing the championship
- Ferrari
Vettel in particular.
See if leclerc will show them how it's done next year!
"Championship are overrated" - Ferrari 2008, 2010, 2012, 2018
ductrung3993 Lol! Didn't Ferrari won constructors on 08, though? Though, I get your point.
And 2017
What saddens me here is they have a good driver in all those seasons Massa,Alonso and Vettel
2017
2008 and 2012 should be excluded because the main breaker were crashes they had no control over. But 2010, 2017 and 2018 are defintely years were they screwed up royally. Though Vettel himself is also making mistakes left and right that's unbelievable.
Yesss RICCIARDO what a comeback from P15 to P4 sooo happy😁😁😁😁
0:35 that's a beautiful view!
Silly move from vettel. He had no chance. That was not verstappens fault. HOWEVER he was at 100% fault when he forced kimi off.
sagi alex True, and he was rightfully penalised for that. Howewer I think if he just let kimi through he might have not been finishing 3rd.
Yepp. Any reasonable person can see that. Not a lot of those in this comment section tho
I was expecting worse from Suzuka honestly.
it was a pretty decent race. everything outside the top 2 was bonkers
Why max is being such a hypocrite? He said that Kimi should have waited for him to join the track and just let him go by. We all know Max would be the last driver to do so. So why he expects others to do something he himself would't do?
Dude... All drivers think like that. It's a racing mentality.
He did not say that....let him go by. Look at the inboard camera. Look at his steering wheel. He does everything to give Kimi Raikkonen space.
Why are people on the internet so dense? Max did not say he should wait and let him infront, what he meant was kimi should have waited like a second and then he should have seen where max would go.. and then he could cut into the inside of the corner and passed max easy.
butterkoira because he can make that move stick, Raikkonen cannot.
@@Sajuuk9 You mean like Singapore last year when Max took out both Ferrari's. So in that instance he should have backed off. You fucking Verstappen fanboys have as many excuses as he does.
Who is here 4 days before 2019 japanese gp?
Bottas = Merc wingman
Räikkönen = Ferrari wingman
Verstappen = *everybody’s wingman*
try preparation H, I hear it really works
Owan Mah Verstappen = wingman of whoever has the cash
+Owan Mah Verstappen is a Mercedes wingman, he never ever helped Ferrari, most of the times he was just battling them or ruining their race.
@@Firemarioflower the problem is that Mercedes is so far ahead that Verstappen doesn't get a chance to mess around with them. Another problem is that Ferrari always has red bulls in the way while they try to catch up to Mercedes.
I guess so. Also, Kimi isn't a wingman. They're free to race, it is clear to see.
Vettel crumbling under pressure making stupid mistakes like we have seen all season ,
It’s no good defending him and saying Hamilton has the faster car when he has driven flawlessly , Vettel is not worthy of a world champion this season but Hamilton is, FACT
Signman 68 * Couldn’t of said it better myself 💯
Have to agree. Bottas has the same car and even he can't drive at the same level as Lewis. This season has just been a master class on driving skill. The Mercedes team has also been superior in their strategies and cohesion. Ferrari really need a to reflect on what went wrong this season and make some changes. Their cars are clearly competitive but they need to work on the human factor in order to be a contender.
Like a man driving amongst children...
#homoliton 😂😂😂
Best track of them all!!
This is racing!
I love Di Resta's voice and passion while commentating.
To be honest I was quite disappointed by Vettel's recent races in his performance. I know its a mix of misfortunes and mistakes here and there. But no matter what my heart will always be with Ferrari and Vettel.
Cheers mate!
Vettel can't handle pressure, he snap, he did it many times in the past. Somehow people gonna put all the blame on Ferrari, but they know the true.
Thats just not true since he has been in much more dire situations before and did well, however he knows to make the championship realistic to win he has to be risky because mechanical failure doesnt happen often in the merc team and hamilton is an extremely consistent driver.
at this point why would he care? championship was over 5 races ago....
Well just look at the 2007 championship when kimi came back from a 40 point deficit, nothing is impossible in this sport.
lewis just keeps soaring higher and higher. and seb is just dropping lower and lower. Gg lewis well deserved
Hey bro,Vettel could easily pass Max in other part of the track, wanted a difficult way to pass.Is fault of Vettel.
You forgot his desperate baku lunge that lost him 3 llaces
he could win those races
This is so much better than watching the full GP, thanks :)
everyone complained about Verstappen spinning Vettel in Shanghai, he just did exactly the same .. man Ferrari f*cked up this Season
And Vettel didn't even get a penalty like Max in China.
Max spinned Vettel in Shanghai, Vettel spinned himself in Suzuka. that's why one of them got a penalty and the other didn't
F1 bores me shirtless
vettel fucked up Ferrari
Ferrari fucked up when they hired him
Vettel had to risk but it didnt happen. For those who put the blame on Max (including my man P. de la Rosa), I can give you a few points:
- Vettel chose to overtake in 1 of the fastest corners in the track, a 1 line corner which gives you almost no reaccion time for Max to see him
- He decided to dive even tho he wasnt even side by side when he starts braking, so its already a very risky move which you can do against a sauber, force india... but not against Max in a competitive car
- In any moment Vettel was ahead of Max, or even fully side by side. So it was never his corner
- Max did good enough to even see him last moment and give 1 car space but Vettel was going wide and understeered into him twice
In the end thats racing, agressive wheel to wheel action at high speeds, but I dont think Max could do anything else but getting out of the way completly, and a top driver will never do that
I´d say 60 to 80% on Vettel but nothing you can do now, he really had to go all in.. many wrong decisions/ mistakes this year tho
What do you think about it??
Alvaro after you beautifully mentioned all the facts you conclude it was 60-80% Vettels fault? Let me brave: it was 100% Vettels fault
No he didn't have to risk it same thing as monza
he was 50 points behind, he has to take risks he normally wouldnt take to still win the championship. it could have worked , and then nobody would say anything, but sometimes it doesnt.
agreed, bu do you mean Paul di Resta??
I agree I was kinda at fault
what is Magnussen even doing in Formula 1?
He brings money, just like Stroll and a few others.
Merit is only a small part of getting a F1 seat
driving and getting good results, yet also crashing into other people because he clearly has very bad spacial awareness lol
Idk
Yeah, LEC teaching him a lesson there. Sad that nobody punished him for constantly doing that before, it had to end in a crash someday.

Goodbye, battle for the title
Congratulations for your 5th title, Lewis
Please keep these camera angles, they're amazing and you can really feel the speed!
Finally a race worth watching.... The mid field was just crazy good
Man, I'm starting to think Ferrari should keep Raikkonen instead of Vettel. At least, he can finish the races without crashing.
Vettel still has more points than Kimi, so no
MinigunGaming Well maybe that is due to ferrari.

That defense on Leclerc did not impress me. I bet Matt was RAGING when he saw this. I couldn't afford to or I'd have woken everybody up lol.
the stuff he says are nonsensical. I wish I could ask for cars to stop while I cut corners on the grass as well so I can keep my sweet poles. Fck that
Hamilton can win the championship in the US if:
He finishes 1st and Vettel finishes 3rd
He finishes 2nd and Vettel finishes 5th
He finishes 3rd and Vettel finishes 7th
He finishes 4th and Vettel finishes 8th
He finishes 5th and Vettel finishes 9th
He finishes 6th and Vettel doesn’t scorce
Verstappen could make of these scenarios happen
I'll be very shocked if Hamilton gets a dnf
Oh Vettel will definitely scorce😂
doesnt matter, I want a good race.
I hope he doesn't win in the US.
You see.. Max did get the same penalty as seb in 2019 Canada
Plus there is a dedicated route in that corner that forces drivers who miss the chicane to follow it and not cut it like Max did.

There's no race driver this season called Ferrari...it's Vettel vs Hamilton...you're a Hammy fanboy...aren't you??...

Vettel screwed over Vettel....
ferrari long time fan here, felt the same way, already knew the championship was over, what I caught from the commentators is that ferrari said they were going to change some things (people?) at the end of the season, hopefully Leclerc comes to a better team
PS: where vettel crashed I just laughed, did not how else to feel
So disappointing...Ferrari had the advantage for the majority of the season, but so many mistakes one after another, race after race, both strategic errors from the team, and driver errors that do not befit a 4-times world champion. I think after this year, Ferrari's managementi will have serious doubt about Vettel's ability. There was already a speck of suspicion about that when Marchionne was alive, that's why he lined up Leclerc for Kimi's seat, so I don't think Vettel would automatically get the No.1 status.
for me championship fight finished at monza .-.
Yep it has just been another disappointing season of what could of been :( just don't do this again next year Ferrari, cant wait for Leclerc

I think he had already retired when they said no further action so they couldn't give him a penalty
