and he played this tune at the South African International Big Band Jazz Festival in 2017. Thank you for hitting our shores and sharing your music with South African Jazz lovers. We love you Mr. Turre.
Mind....
Blown.
Steve turré used to play weekly as a guest artist in the latin meet jazz sessions at the Village gate NY. in the early 80s He was already experimenting with the original sound of the Conch shells, but not as skillful as he does here, he has come a long way
Amazing! I have never seen anything like that before. I would have never thought you could play a conch like an instrument.
2 minutes in, and this is already one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen or heard (Update later)
Have several conch shells, this inspires me so much! I blow during the drum circles I attend or facilitate, but it's not (yet) musical, more rhythmic-oriented. Steve Turre and the others playing are AMAZING!
Qué gozada. No sabía que se podía tocar así un caracol. Brillante.
He actually plays a seashell. Wow. I will be attending his Clef Club concert tomorrow.
Has been a while since this was played and shared ~ fantastico ~
I always thought the conch shell had a lot of potential that most people didnt/couldnt tap into.
leave it to a hardcore professional musician to show us the possibilities. amazing!
Fantastic music its incredible
this inspires me so much
Singularly Spectacular
MOVES ME TO THE BONE! aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!! Thank you!
I wish Steve would revive his Sanctified Shells band, in which everyone except the rhythm section played the shells. Saw them once many years ago at the Jazz Standard in NYC, and they were fantastic.
That's a shell of a good idea
If I loved Freddy Hubbard playing this very piece is because he did it with an organic sound. With the shells sounds even better! Well done!
excelente!
Awesome Very soothing Thank you for enjoying what I would like to learn to do
wow
Woww ❤❤❤❤
That's fantiastic!

фантастика.. вот это левл..
add ua-cam.com/video/cRTXJHzL3s8/v-deo.html I almost thought he was about to seque into the 'Inflated Tear' by Rashaan Roland Kirk.
He was using the exact same intervals that Rahsaan used as drones at the beginning of the iconic 'three sax simultaneous' track.
hello
I'd like to know which tune the first one was...
Like I always said, tell me this doesn't sound like he's playing a trumpet. Just fascinating!!! If you think you can do better, try it.
The timbre is softer to my hear
Where do u think trumpets come from ? They are fake versions of this lmao
mmmm... conch fritters... arghhhhh
Deixa o Hermeto Pascoal ver isso.... rsrsrsrss
marifet, onu içinde böcek varken üflemek.
idk y i see jonny depp here
:P! Wow what music store can you even buy/purchase a musical shell at?! If you like the bone lol(I'm guessing you do since Steve plays it)check out my video on this channel of me playing some Bohemian Rhapsody. I also do 1-arm pushups while singing some Puccini Opera song vibrato and straight-tone. Seriously!
that is way to much time on your hands.
Any great musician has to put tens of thousands of hours of practice in to master their instrument. Steve Turre did that, and has become one of the top practitioners on this instrument. He has made some beautiful and timeless music with his skill, music that will endure way past his demise. What have you done with your time?
