In this fourth MFA Special Edition using genuine archive films, we take a look at the impact Harry Ferguson's tractors and implements made to the mechanisation of the farm.
We view new and efficient ways of dealing with the day to day labour intensive problems of keeping livestock by making use of existing equipment-- which usually included the TE20. We also focus on mechanised row crop thinning and in particular sugar beet. A film released in Australia all about the Fergie is highlighted and by all accounts the locals were mighty impressed.
Hen's teeth are more common than film of the Ferguson Model A tractor - better known as the Ferguson-Brown! This home movie footage of it harvesting and ploughing demonstrated beautifully what life was like all those years ago.
Farmers who farmed 'The Ferguson Way' expected top quality products with top quality service and that's exactly what they got. Another programme is based at Ferguson's factory at Banner Lane and includes a rousing call to economically produce high quality tractors.
So with considerable help from the TE20, farming became much more efficient and that famous 'three point hitch and hydraulic system' is still fitted to most tractors today -- what an incredible legacy to the Mechanisation of the Farm. - Авто та транспорт
I have a TEA 20 built in the 1954 to 1955 era. It still runs strong. My father worked for Ferguson from about 1946 to 1976 as chief quality control engineer. He met Mr. Ferguson several times. Little known fact: If Ferguson saw you with your hand(s) in your pocket(s) there was a 10 cent fine.
👍👍👍
Harry Ferguson was a genius! The 3 point hitch is the standard today!
Fantastic achievement; three point linkage became the industry standard and still used today, brought affordable mechanisation to thousands of farms and heaps of them are still going today. Well done Harry.
I learnt to drive on the little Fergie at the age of six one of the most interesting things which was not mentioned in. This was the starting mechanism. You could not start in gear because you had to use the gear lever to start it. I thought it was a great safety, innovation🚜👍
Thats beautiful
My Ferguson 1954 diesel is the best thing I have. bringing home firewood clearing snow cutting hay plowing for the potato field .. and much more. From northern sweden
A lovely film. Keep it going!
The distilleries on the island of islay still use the te20 for carting peats from the peat bank to the the road
Awesome video!!!
By gone days never to be seen again😢. Tractor manufacturing has sadly all but gone in the UK. Massy Ferguson David Brown International Nuffield /Leyland Ford is all but a distant memory now and it's a bloody shame 😭
In my inquiries over in England the farmers said the demands of the unions and the farm tractors were not reliable like those built in the U S
Back when they encouraged you to work on your own tractor and made them simple enough to do so
I wish I could have seen them old tractors coming off the line!!!
Great film I OWN A TEF 20 ( 52 )

Do you have any film of the famous 9x9 in 9 furrows ploughing by a Fergie? Used to be a major selling point of the manouverability.

Does anyone know what the moveable "houses" shown at 5:36 are? chicken tractors? greenhouses?
They're outside houses for poultry, this and other time saving ideas from the 1950's can been viewed in the DVD. If you'd like to go onto our website the complete DVD lasting 120 minutes, along with many others, is listed for sale. Website: www.secondsightproductions.co.uk

My dreams is MF 240
My papaw said hid dad had a Ferguson tractor
Did Ferguson actually have a self driving tractor ? Cars are just beginning to have the self driving feature
you can set the throttle and let the clutch out - sort of like putting a brick on your cars accelerator
Jan Martin no they had a self steering system. Almost like the modern GPS systems
if they did it would be the best
А в русском переводе это есть?
i often wonder if i am a descendant of harry ferguson, should do a family tree.
Why don't you just ask your father? Harry Ferguson died in 1960.
In what world does a farmer wear a tie?
