Hi! Gold member here! (secret youtube account). When I first started playing banjo, 2 years ago, I spent a year on Janet Davis's you can teach yourself banjo book and learned a ton of licks from it. But it didn't really teach me what I wanted in my banjo sound. It was too old fashioned bluegrassy sounding. By that time, I had learned your "you are my sunshine", "I'll fly away", and "oh susannah" tabs and they were my favorites. I recently subscribed because your tabs and picking are just the perfect mix of melody and bluegrass; just the right amount of feeling that I want in my playing. I aspire to play banjo that produces as much feeling and melody and cleanness while staying true to that bluegrassy sound as yours does. Keep it up! Having said these things, I'm a huge fan of blues in banjo. You only have 2 blues based lessons. Can you do a whole (intermediate) blues song please? And this might be a long shot but if you ever translate a michael jackson song to banjo, I'd be allllll over that! Thanks for reading!
Wow, thanks so much! If you go to the banjo page and select the "blues" tag on the left margin, it will filter out all the lessons I teach have blues elements, and there are currently 15 of them :)
