I'm delighted you enjoyed this song. It's one of my favourite of the Wolfe Tones who are one of my favourite groups. It refers to the IRA hunger strike in 1981 when the then British PM Maggie Thatcher allowed 10 political prisoners to starve to death. Just wanted to point out that the map of Ireland you used, showing a so-called 'Northern Ireland' flag over the Northeast of the country is politically adverse to how most Irish people and most certainly Wolfe Tones supporters view our country - ie it is all one country, so better having a map with our National flag covering the whole country or have no flags at all. just to let you know and thanks again for the reaction
Yes I thought that too. These things are very important; the British try to dominate the entire narrative of their colonial involvment in our country, and you are totally right to bring attention to it. 32 County republic beir búa! Dublin republican.
Interesting, and something I'll be considering. When I designed the flag logo, I had initially had it just the Irish tricolour because that's how I see it in my head when I think of Ireland but I thought to add the N Ireland flag just to try and be as respectful to everybody living there that thinks differently than me and I wanted to be representative of the times, as well. Again, I'll be considering it and may pick a few Irish brains on that topic and will be making a topic and conversation on that very thing on my new channel for the actual Irish PubCast. If you're interested, give the channel a look and sub and be there for the convo. Thanks so much for checking it out and giving your thoughts. www.youtube.com/@SmittyLearnsIrishPubCast
