So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7
THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE HOLY Being Good (goodness) does not SAVE …becoming Holy does! “Be Holy because I am Holy ” (1 Peter 1, 16). It is natural for all those deciding to follow Christ in His Law to change the attitudes toward others to become better people to become good! Goodness however DOES NOT SAVE because ALL SINS REMAIN! A pure heart (sin free heart) is needed in order to return to the presence of God [Matthew 5-8] “BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART- FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD”. Man becomes Holy and "sainted" by participation in the holiness of God. To be Holy is to become ~a new creation~ by part taking with God during Baptism as delivered by the Holy Spirit to the Apostles the day of Pentecost 2000 years ago! This is how Paul describes His personal experience, as being ~a new creation~ part man part god (by the Grace of God) [Gal 2:20] “So that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me” Paul admits that God (Christ) lives in him, making him this way part man and part god a god-man by His Grace, a way of being never seen on heaven or earth before also known as becoming a New Creation. [Galatians 6:15] “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature”. There was only ONE CHURH present in the world the first 1054 years of Christianity! Paul was very lucid as to a certain characteristic of the Church none negotiable that was delivered by the Holy Spirit. If Salvation Truth had to be based on one verse of the Holy bible alone, it would be the verse spoken by Paul to the Ephesians 4:5 “5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism”. This is because the Church is not an human made organization. [In Colossians 1: 24] Paul verifies the fact that the Church is the Body of Christ! “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:: The Church is a living ~god man~ organism that is Divine created by the Holy Spirit the day of Pentecost with 85 Holy Apostolic canons that considered the WILL of GOG for the Salvation of man kind! This is Westminster Abbey - England. Thank God Oliver Cromwell and the English Christians of the New Model Army stopped the damnable Catholics from ruining England as they have Italy, Spain, France, and Ireland. Because of the English Civil War, there is a still a trace of freedom in England.
@@DavidParker-cf2km shame shame on you. Not Christian at all. What will Christ say of your animosity. You don't condemn a religion, unless a cult or man made, on the fault of weak humans, yes humans, man, who defile it, Think about it. God forgive your blindness
@@harrycontois7762 You are quite correct, I do not condemn a "religion", God already did. Notice that John the Baptizer called the Jews a "brood of vipers". John passed judgment on Judaism with their damnable Talmud of traditions that made of no effect the law of God. Jesus called the Pharisees children of the devil. Jesus affirmed the Old Testament, creation, and all the prophets. Since you seem to have missed it, Roman Catholicism is man-made, teaching salvation by meritorious works. Please do show we where purgatory, indulgences, limbo, prayers to Mary, prayers to designated saints, indulgences, etc., are found in the Bible. There was a reason for the Reformation and there was a very bloody reprisal by the papists for the next two hundred years against Christians. I have no doubt at all that if the Pope had the military power now that he did then, that war to kill every Christian would still be fought. The essence of Christianity is salvation by the grace of God alone through faith in the effectual, finished work of Jesus' propitiatory sacrifice of Himself on the cross for God's elect and not of any meritorious work of man. Perhaps you never read Ephesians 2:8-9 or the rest of the Bible. Telling the truth, especially to hostile people who do not want to hear it, is also required of a Christian.
Pretty amazing that it takes more than four minutes to process from one end of the church to the other! I laughed out loud at about 1:47 where the sister drops a sheet and then kicks it aside without missing a step! Those Brits really know how to process!
This is a gift of God: to experience the sacred amidst the commonplace - to taste heaven in our daily bread, a new heaven and a new earth in a mouthful of water, joy in the ache of our muscle or the sweat of our brows.
Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work or watch or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ, give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous-and all for your love's sake. Amen.
Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, chosen of the Lord, and precious, binding all the Church in one, holy Zion's help for ever, and her confidence alone. To this temple, where we call thee, come, O Lord of Hosts, today; with thy wonted loving-kindess hear thy servants as they pray; and thy fullest benediction shed within its walls alway. Here vouchsafe to all thy servants what they ask of thee to gain, what they gain from thee for ever with the blessed to retain, and hereafter in thy glory evermore with thee to reign. Laud and honor to the Father, laud and honor to the Son, laud and honor to the Spirit, ever Three, and ever One, consubstantial, co-eternal, while unending ages run.
Judi Harbin, I have enjoyed all your comments in the many hymns you have commented on. May the love of God you have be shared with everybody be part of your daily devotion, and your verses from the bible are fantastic and great to read.

This pastoral visit belongs to the Story of the relationships between the two communities. The Pope undoubtely loved the great Music the Choir and the Liturgy too.
I am still drawn back to watch this , seven years down the track. What an amazingly courageous man Pope Benedict is! His coming to the Abbey was an extraordinary act of Reconciliation, the ramifications of which do not ever seem to have been fully recognised or discussed. What we are seeing here is a Moment of History that could be the subject of a Doctoral Thesis.
Sadly, though, he seems to think Anglicans lack true priesthood and did not think the Sacraments could be shared. Not a huge reconciliation in my book.
@@michaelearendil6843 Anglicans do lack true priesthood. They broke off from the Church hundreds of years ago. Naturally, they are validly ordained - any of them.
@@thepianoman6958 And yet St Pope Paul VI, when visiting the Archbishop of Canterbury, gave him a crosier and a pectoral cross, and called the Church of England a Sister Church! So perhaps you are wrong. Also, don't forget the involvement of Old Catholic bishops in Anglican ordinations.
For those who enjoy this, the event to welcome the Pope to Westminster Cathedral (the Roman Catholic Cathedral of London) begins in an equally spectacular manner, with glorious music.
I pray to Our Lord Jesus that one day the Anglican Church reverts to the One Holy Catholic Faith under the authority of the Successor of Peter to whom the Church was commended by Christ Himself. I am convert from protestantism and I thank God for revealing me the fullness of the One Faith and if His One Church. Blessed be God.
I am glad that the pope got to hear a wonderful singing congregation and a grand organ, something very often (but not always) missing in the Roman Church. This kind of music is duplicated in all sorts of churches, large and small, among Anglicans, Lutherans, and other Protestant denominations.
Yes when Christ,s true touch our hearts, this sure foundation bring peache in the world, our work, listen to your inner-voice as small as a mustad-germ...
What a fine and rousing hymn is Henry Purcell's "Christ Is Made The Sure Foundation". A truly fine Papal performance from a 2010 Ecumenical Celebration Service at Westminster Abbey, City of Westminster, UK.
Christ is indeed our sure foundation, not the church, not the pope and not Rome. He alone purchased our Salvation and all glory, honor and praise belong to Him. Every true child of God has first understood that he has sinned against a Holy God and death is the wages of our sin, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that , while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11
Amen indeed. But the Romans do not believe the true gospel as handed down in the Scriptures. They should read the book written to them: Romans! If by works, then not by faith. By faith ALONE are we saved, not by any works we have done.
SJ SB ---- LOL. It was Catholic bishops who gave you and all of us the decision with Apostolic Authority to approve the present 27 books of the New Testament in the fourth century ! Thank St. Athanasios of Alexandria as the first of them before the episcopal councils of Carthage and Rome.
I'm from Malta (an island in the Mediterranean, and Catholic stronghold for the past few centuries) - so I'm sure that cultural baggage plays a part in all our journeys. It's interesting that you'd list transubstantiation as a stumbling block in particular though, because it's one of the few reasons I feel myself completely rooted in the Church. Without that Mystery, the whole thing would fall apart for me, and I can't imagine being Christian without access to that wonderful miracle.
Believing in transubstantiation means you believe that the host and wine actually becomes the body and blood on Christ.I find it hard to believe (along with many Roman Catholics) that happens during every mass."This is my body....and this is my blood. Do this in remembrance of me"" were Christ's words when he was alive. So how could the bread and wine become his own body and blood while he was still alive? Anglicans and Lutherans ( but not Orthodox churches) believe in consubstantiation which means the bread and wine represent Christ's body and blood. There is a huge difference between the two doctrines so it's no wonder it is a stumbling block between Roman catholics and the Anglican and Lutheran churches.
When Michael Voris from Church Militant watches this, how can he say our Anglican Church is null and void - I can never and will never fathom that mindset.
If Henry was the most highly trained man for the job, then he is living proof that good training doesn't overcome bad character. Few names in the history of Christendom, are as stained with blood and heresy.
Thanks, Pete for your candid reply. I *am* a Protestant (Episcopalian) who, as a young man, went through instruction in the Catholic faith. I could've confirmed, but didn't. Two sticking point for me have always been: 1. the papacy. 2. transubstantiation. I repect you and all of your faith, but I just can't make that leap. I grew up as a Baptist, so the "heresy" of sola scriptura is deeply embedded. All best, Mark in the American Midwest
O Christ our God, You are worshiped at all times and in all places and are glorified both in heaven and on earth. You are patient, generous in mercy, rich in compassion, loving to the just and merciful to the sinner. You call all of us to repentance through the promise of blessings to come. O Lord, receive our supplications at this very hour. Direct our lives in the way of Your commandments. Sanctify our souls, purify our bodies, set our minds aright, cleanse our thoughts, deliver us from all affliction, wrath, danger and need. Surround us with Your holy angels, so that, guided and guarded by their ranks, we may reach unity of the faith and the knowledge of Your unutterable glory. You are blessed unto ages of ages. Amen

I so agree. Why is the "amen" not sung? Who, or what, decreed that it should be so? Tamper with beloved traditions at your peril, senior clergy; we can vote at the collection plate.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him,
rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

Brainwashed drivel.
“Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church::
The Church is a living ~god man~ organism that is Divine created by the Holy Spirit the day of Pentecost with 85 Holy Apostolic canons that considered the WILL of GOG for the Salvation of man kind! Cannons delivered by the Holy Spirit for the Salvation of man the day of Pentecost! (the Greek Orthodox still go by these canons today) www.voskrese.info/spl/aposcanon.html

Awww! The Pope Looks So Happy At The Beginning. :')
The pope never looked happier. He loves good music.
I've rarely seen his Holiness so happy and so rejoiceful
This is Westminster Abbey - England. Thank God Oliver Cromwell and the English Christians of the New Model Army stopped the damnable Catholics from ruining England as they have Italy, Spain, France, and Ireland. Because of the English Civil War, there is a still a trace of freedom in England.
@@flycatcherworld There is nothing "holy" about the Pope or the papacy. Anti-Christ is the fitting description of that brood of vipers.
We love you and thank you for all your prayers Pope Benedict
I really love this tune It moves me whenever I listen to it. I wish we could use it for more hymns.
This is a gift of God: to experience the sacred amidst the commonplace - to taste heaven in our daily bread, a new heaven and a new earth in a mouthful of water, joy in the ache of our muscle or the sweat of our brows.
How is Westminster commonplace?
Your words are a blessing to my soul.
03Blackbeard When compared with the glories and unspeakable beauty awaiting us in heaven, everything on earth is commonplace.
Amen.
Cracking hymn, takes about 3 minutes for the choir to get in time with the organ because of the distance to travel to the choir.
One of my favorite hymn
The Clergy can sing by Heart, appreciatable!!
Christ is made the sure foundation,
Christ the head and cornerstone,
chosen of the Lord, and precious,
binding all the Church in one,
holy Zion's help for ever,
and her confidence alone.
To this temple, where we call thee,
come, O Lord of Hosts, today;
with thy wonted loving-kindess
hear thy servants as they pray;
and thy fullest benediction
shed within its walls alway.
Here vouchsafe to all thy servants
what they ask of thee to gain,
what they gain from thee for ever
with the blessed to retain,
and hereafter in thy glory
evermore with thee to reign.
Laud and honor to the Father,
laud and honor to the Son,
laud and honor to the Spirit,
ever Three, and ever One,
consubstantial, co-eternal,
while unending ages run.
A wonderful staple of Anglican hymnody based on an ancient Latin text.
Judi Harbin, I have enjoyed all your comments in the many hymns you have commented on. May the love of God you have be shared with everybody be part of your daily devotion, and your verses from the bible are fantastic and great to read.
Wish the Methodist Church would use this version once in a while. I love it!

A wondrous and beautiful moment
It's Catholic too. In the Red Worship Hymnal (GIA) # 732. I'm cantoring this evening at 5:15 Mass for our Priest's 5th Anniversary. One of his favorites. It will be the recessional.
A chuckle - at 1:49 someone drops a sheet of music during the procession and without missing a beat, kicks it aside, out of the way
Mark Whittall and then 2 seconds later a singer on the aisle picks it up
There was one dropped just before didn't see anyone pick that up, the nun did that so well just a little kick, funny the women in grey the men all colourful we have a long way to go sign.
Haha, each of the pair of dear ladies side by side took their turn at dropping a sheet of music! Would have been funny to hear them poke at each other afterwards.
lol yeah saw the sister kick the programme sheet. Very smoothly done
Nuns know what to do!
This is worship at its best.
This pastoral visit belongs to the Story of the relationships between the two communities. The Pope undoubtely loved the great Music the Choir and the Liturgy too.
Beautifu, simply beautiful and exhilarating
I am still drawn back to watch this , seven years down the track.
What an amazingly courageous man Pope Benedict is! His coming to the Abbey was an extraordinary act of Reconciliation, the ramifications of which do not ever seem to have been fully recognised or discussed. What we are seeing here is a Moment of History that could be the subject of a Doctoral Thesis.
What a beautiful and insightful comment.
Sadly, though, he seems to think Anglicans lack true priesthood and did not think the Sacraments could be shared. Not a huge reconciliation in my book.
Pope Benedit 16th and Johnpaul 2nd will go down in history as Great Popes.
With this hymn we respect Jesus.
I am grateful Papa Francesco does uncertain this relationship and many more.
Laudetur Jesus Christus.

Pope: Truly, God is here.....
One can only imagine the atmosphere with such ambience.
What a fine and rousing hymn is Henry Purcell's "Christ Is Made The Sure Foundation". A truly fine Papal performance from a 2010 Ecumenical Celebration Service at Westminster Abbey, City of Westminster, UK.
All Glories Belong To Father Almighty Amen. In JESUS
Mighty. Precious Name.
Amen brother!
Yet Christ founded the Church. The Church is the Body of Christ.

John King A fancy show does not make valid rites.

@brandonlh05 I think you're correct. Anglicans put on the best show and I'm Catholic and wish we did more of this type of music and service.
