Lookalike a Kitchener mixed with a mattress Stich! Youre a great teacher! And this is a wonderfully informative channel! Bravo! New sub today!

It looks very nice, but I'm struggling to find a use for it in my knitting. For infinity scarves, I start with a provisional cast on so I can kitchener the two ends and not have any evidence of a seam or join. And for shoulder seams I use a 3-needle bind off because a kitchener doesn't provide enough structure for shoulder seams and I'm thinking this grafting would not provide any more structure than a kitchener. In fact, why would one use this fake grafting instead of a kitchener? I'm sure I might be missing something?

I know in my knitting, the cast on and bind off edges are much more stable than when I kitchener pieces together. On a shoulder strap of a bag or sweater (especially in cotton yarn with no memory) that bind/cast edge will not stretch out. Also, because it's nice to have options! There are several ways to produce the same result with just about anything in knitting. Some people just don't like grafting and would rather seam and some would rather graft than seam. Same with DPN and magic loop, continental vs throwing... so it's just nice to have the option that you like (and can remember how to do!). :D
