Tug Captains Get No Love !(New River Boats)

- New River in Fort Lauderdale had some really sexy boats and Yachts on this day. We have Flibs 2021 week upon us so we are also seeing boats we usually won't see. My name is Alfred Montaner Host of the Chit show and today we see tugs, yachts and really cool boats. The bikini's are still out in South Florida so expect to see beautiful people .

I was the one behind the wheel. Just to give you a little heads up I was waiting for some inbound traffic to come around marker 12. This is not the first time I’ve been up the river in something this size. I’m born and raised on the shores of the South Fork of the New River and have been up and down the river for over 40 years. That old geezer was a real idiot. I’m sure if the cameraman said yes I do actually know a lot about boats the old man would have coward and said nothing. He will keep being captain beach commander and trying to impress clueless Spectators with his in accurate knowledge. He has probably never seen a day at sea in your life. . Furthermore there’s really no requirement to be towed in and out of the New River. my insurance company said as long as you feel comfortable we are comfortable. He will keep living your life as a angry old man and I’m sure will die alone.
As soon as I saw you maneuvering the ship, I knew you either had piloted the waterway before, or you at least had experience navigating. It was apparent to me and the only boating knowledge I have is from watching these videos. Angry people are angry. The dude sounded jealous or envious that someone else owns that beautiful ship.
Bow thrusters, IPS drives, sensors, software from Elon… self piloting boats are inevitable.
Blue has always been a favorite color for me for boats even my little 16ft fishing boat is blue & white

I have seen 100 footers piloted with no tow boats.I have driven (1987-'92)Jungle Queen which is 75' (as a mate)2 deck 550 passenger Mississippi river style boat from mouth of New River to almost the JQ Village ,even learned to side walk her.

That boat doesn’t need a tug to bring it in and out. Most don’t if they have a Captain that knows what they are doing. It also has bow thrusters.

Thank you for sharing. Do these people EVER clean there boats ? I clean mine even if it's in water. Some of these have not been cleaned in almost a year or more it looks like.

Mostly the tugs backwards is easier to maneuver, especially if all of a sudden they have to reverse direction. So I was told when I worked on Jungle Queen.

I enjoy your videos. I sure learned alot about boating in Florida. I live in kentucky all my boating has been on lakes. We have some beautiful lakes. When i was a young girl back in the 60's we had a 36 foot cabin cruiser Chris Craft wooden boat. In your videos i never see Chris Craft boats. Do they still make Chris Craft? Back in my day that was the boat to have hope you know something about those boats.

That is a Riva and the guy in the back ground who said the captain was an idiot is living in the 1990's. I don't believe it is IPS but it was holding its own very well, would assume that comes from a good captain. Italians don't screw around with performance. Unless its a windy, windy day there should be no issue moving through intercoastal with out a tow safety. If I had to guess there may been requesting harbor or marina permission and was waiting politely out of the way stalling for time. But hey what do I know, I just a UA-cam viewer.

You know your out of shape when you lay on the beach only to have Greenpeace or the neighborhood Sea-life rescue to show up and start splashing water on you.
Anyone know why the longer/wider yachts need assistance from tugs to navigate the river when that one huge yacht obviously had no trouble? Is it just skill, confidence, and knowing the river that enables you to captain the yacht on your own? I thought it was required until I saw this this vlog. 👍✌
Usually for Safety reason especially with wind. Not sure what the regulations are in Florida but after certain length without proper propulsion. Some larger boats can do it if they have IPS/Azipods. Though insurance sometimes plays a factor if its commercial. $200 you guide me down the channel and you take all the responsibility, hell yes.
@@BuhdaPunk Yeah, I didn't think about the ability of the boat to sideways, backways, frontways, upways, etc lol These modern yachts like the one in this video that had no problem has modern gear that allows a good captain to maneuver it down the river. The older yachts don't have this equipment so would need the tugs help. Only $200 for those two tugs to steer you down the river? Bargain!

The wheel on the motorsailer needs to be a little bit bigger. Don't know how he can steer with that size wheel.

I really enjoy your videos. But a older lady from ky who was a lake boater. The one thing i notice some boaters have way to many people on board. So after you get out to sea where do these boaters go? I guess yachts go on a trip. The fishing boats go where the fish are biting. So what does the runabouts go? Looks like to me all you can do is ride up and down the shore line. I notice you don't see anyone water skiing. Probably be hard in sea water. I have learned alot watching your videos. For i was a lake girl and ohio river rat.

Use a tug to deliver the new boat to the house because, the captain isn't hired yet and the owner can't drive it because of the insurance clause!

I live in Thailand, build power and sail cats, sell and charter them. Everything is different here, especially on the water. no enforcement means no one follows any laws, its crazy.
At 11.54 a yacht being towed turns broadside and there's 1 or 2 jet skis up on top. I'm not a boat person, how do they get up there and then down again??

Why would a boat this size need tugs to maneuver? This vessel is highly maneuverable, that statement was made by someone not familiar with the capabilities of these vessels.
PS this guy that says this Captain doesn't know what he's doing is the real idiot! The reason Fort Lauderdale is the yachting capital of the world is because, huge boat owners can dock their boats behind intracoastal and River front homes because we have deep water at the dock with at least 175' of seawall or more! So they can have the best of both worlds and avoid the huge expense of marina fees!! It's a truly unique place because of this! Las Olas Isles are called the Venice of America for the same reason! For this reason international yacht owners come to Florida by boat and purchase properties in South Florida. Where I live now it's beautiful but there's no way you can own a big boat like this. The intercoastal here is called the Indian River. It's only 2 ft deep except for in the Middle where it's been dredged. There's no way you can park 105 foot to 175 foot yacht in your backyard. The docks are all finger pier style that go way out into the water from your house. You're not allowed to dredge against your property line/ seawall because it's a wildlife estuary. So they have smaller boats or marinas for bigger boats or sailboats that draw a lot of water.
