And one day I'm going to come to the east coast always been a dream of mine now il have 2 people to visit you and Chuck 👍 I'm from Northern Ontario and love the same stuff as yous being outdoors is my drug 🤣
Is that a safe way to bottle meat? Are you not concerned about Botulism?
Yes it is, we have been doing it for years by boiling it in the pot you seal the covers so completely safe
@@ashleyhann-adventuresoffgrid my concern is that boiling water does not get hot enough to kill botulinum bacteria. I realize it is a popular Newfoundland staple, but because it is done often, doesn't mean that it's right. Many people have eaten improperly canned food with no issue, but many people have gotten sick and or died from eating improperly canned food as well. Maybe check the Ball canning guide as to how to properly can meat.
I would just be careful what you share online, it's nice seeing a Newfoundlander with a UA-cam channel, wouldn't want to see you lose your channel or get into any legal problems, because of something you uploaded.
I think the only unsafe food to eat comes mostly from grocery retailers. Enzyme blocking technology used to preserve packaged foods is a guaranteed slow descent to poor health. Fresh organic meat of any kind boiled for 3.5 hours has to be safe, your nose will tell you what’s safe.
@@wrondabartlett2888 Store bought, pre-packaged foods may not be as healthy for you as fresh alternatives. But if your fresh foods are not prepared and/or preserved properly, they also can be a slow, or sometimes quite rapid, decline into poor health as well. Boiling meat for 3.5 hours is fine as a cooking method, but not as a preserving method. Clostridium Botulinum spores are not killed by standard boiling temperatures, you need a pressure canner to reach the appropriate safe canning temperatures. Also, food tainted with botulism does not produce any off taste or smell. So your nose or your mouth can't warn you if your food is tainted.
