It's for people who want to get drunk on a tight budget. You can buy a 30 pack of 12oz cans for about 20 bucks, so why pay 50 bucks for beer when 20 will do? I don't drink this pisswater, I can't. It's fucking disgusting. I'd prefer a Goose Island Goose IPA over some of the macro piss and I'm not much of an IPA drinker. But Just saying that if you want to get drunk and don't want to spend a bunch of money, this shit ain't a bad way to do it.
Tman2217 idk..I question some of the ingredients that are put into the macros. I'm with you though. I'll put $9-$10 down on a Stone,Lagunitas,Oskar Blues or Cigar City brew any day. I think when you weigh all the options and circumstances, you're getting more bang for the buck. Even when it's 6 less beers. Cheers 🍺
A 12 pack of Sam Adams costs around 15 bucks where I live, so that's not too bad. For 30 bucks I can get 24 delicious beers I know I will enjoy. Cheers to you, bud, may the beers be good and plentiful in our lives!
My uncle once told me (in my youth) when he saw me buying a couple of Buds.."You might as well drink from the lake" :) And I agree. Nowadays I prefer IPAs and trying out a lot of stuff Ive never tasted before.
I lived in the US (Nashville) for a few years (Aussie). I tried a good number of their domestic beers and actually got initiated into the craft beer scene over there (they are spoiled for choice or at least were back then compared with the Aussie scene). I remember a nice old bloke asking me what I was drinking and proceeding to tell me that I would get onto the good stuff one day. The "good stuff" was Bud Light. I thought the appropriate response was, as they would say in the south, "bless his heart".
I'd say it's refreshing the same way cold carbonated water is refreshing. It doesn't make me want to gag, but damn. Corn soda with some alcohol. It's so precisely engineered to be so inoffensive.
Simon, A lot of people in the US will settle for mediocre things that are consistent. There are what I call corporate restaurants over here (Lobster Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, Fridays, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse) and people love them because they know exactly what they are going to get. The food is mediocre, but they are almost assured they will not get something awful. It's the same with beer. I find this distrurbing.
You are so right!! I agree with you about the non-existing taste of his beer; however, you have to understand that here in America most people drink this type of beer after a long day of work and they just want something refreshing and easy drinking. Also most people don't want to pay for a six pack of Tucker, Spaten, Paulaner or any other good beer if they can get a 12 or 24 of domestic for the same price. Great review!!! Cheers!!
Having honestly reviewed Bud: "The King of Beers" you should now review the Original Budweisar Budvar from the Czech republic. A totally different lager!
I enjoy your videos and reviews very much...thank you for all the work you put into the channel. Fortunately, here in the US there has been a renaissance in brewing over the last 25 years or more and we are no longer a hostage to the Bud Lights of the world. Frankly, I'm amazed that you would even take a drink of this as it's nothing more than puke. Now, that said, if it's unbearably hot and you find yourself parched, and if the Bud Light is in a keg and is as close to freezing cold as possible it is, as you pointed out refreshing. Also, you can get drunk on it if that's your mission. That said I cannot remember the last time I bought cheap swill beer...not when we have so many wonderful beers and ale's made right here in almost every city I visit. If I may suggest, please try the Nut Brown Ale by the Blackstone Brewing Company of Nashville, TN. It is a very delicious English style ale. I would be very interested to hear your thoughts and opinion. Kind regards, Tom
I believe it is perfect for people who want to get merry, but still be able to play a guitar or musical instrument in a band or session, so I would use it for that purpose, when I did try drinking some just for a chill, I was surprised at how sleepy it made me feel before bed time, considering the lower alcohol rating, but compared to premium beers, this should be taken lightly, if you pardon the pun.
This has taken the long time American number one spot. Yet in many taste tests with other light beers, most couldn't tell them apart. This isn't even Popsi McLager. It's poxy McLager.
@ChadzBeerReviews Just going through all these comments, this review has done very well, thanks for sending Chad it was a good reason to review it, cheers
I'v tried Bud Light once and have never gone back. I can't believe how bland and uninteresting it is. Basically its flavoured water .. and they forgot to put half the artificial flavor in it. lol
im american, here everybody is raised up on this stuff, like you said its "thrown in our faces" just until recently Ive gotten off this stuff, and been stuck on sierra nevada torpedo, really good stuff, but honestly in my opinion, the Snow Wit maybe even better, has more of a piny flavor which i prefer.
@BeerGogglesReviews I tried drinking the rest of this after the review, must have taken me an hour and a half, im not one for waste but this was a real struggle. Cheers Terry
My best advice to you would be to write a list of beers which you think might interest you on the supermarket shelf then see if I have reviewed them, to see if you might like them or not, cheers for watching.
@dethwizard I have not drank Bud on tap in ages, I should go out and give it a go sometime, just to see how it fairs to the Craft Beers I have grown to love, cheers
"It don't look like piss, I'm not drinking that" funniest line in a beer review ever, I would honestly drink piss over Bud Light, Bud Light is liquefied sensory deprivation..
Sorry Simon, you're wrong about that cans quantity, an American pint is only 16 fluid ounces, so 24 fluid ounces equates to one and a half American pints. A United Kingdom pint is 20 fluid ounces, that's why an American gallon is less than ours in the UK.
"It don't look like piss", LOL! I have to admit, I do love Molson Canadian with certain foods (burgers, snacks, pizza ...). If I go to a pub for dinner, of course I'll order a craft beer, however I do still enjoy some of the macro brews, at least with certain kinds of food.
Rant beginning at 7:55 is fantastic. You really got to the heart of the issue with beer today and the joy of craft beer. Why do people drink this crap? I say support the art (of craft brewing), and the art will support you ;) Nice video Simon!
@tomcaroscio Yes got you, I think a lot of people like the cosy slipper lifestyle, im a person like yourself who cant wait to try different things, cheers
@rewen84 Just took a look at the sales figures for the US, looks like its the No1 seller in America. I hope the Craft Beer movement changes all that over the next few years, cheers
I mostly like real ale and craft beer, but Bud Light and Budweiser also taste okay and very drinkable. They don't have the depth of flavour of craft ale/lager, but ultra chilled Bud light can be refreshing. It definitely doesn't taste unpleasant.
I'm an American from Alabama. Bud Light was the first beer I ever tried at the ripe age of 12, I thought it was awesome! At 16 I had the pleasure of drinking a Guineas Extra Stout, after that I didn't even think of Bud Light. I'm going on 29 now and I tried it again about 3 weeks ago...I only liked it out of my beeswax lined drinking horn because it gave it a honey flavor. Bud Light and beers like it are my most hated beers because they don't have flavor. As an American I'm very happy for this review. Cheers buddy!
solid beer review amazing how this beer majority always have some ignorant gibberish to talk down on when its the number one selling in usa. not to mention what u just said.. they rather take this than ipa.
@strangeones4 It wasnt very nice this, your Craft Beers are the way forward though, really enjoy reviewing beer like Dogfish, Stone etc. I think mass produced lager brewing is doomed now, too many people drinking proper good beer, cheers
@alextheyoutubulator Thanks very much :) I told myself before the review to stay calm and not rant but, the heart rules doesnt it, cheers to Craft Beer
I know in Northern Hemisphere with your climate, you would be drinking darker beers but There is some great Lagers in the world that are refreshing and flavorsome, These light beers give Lagers a bad rap IMO.cheers Gez
i dont know if its like this in the UK but at a pro sports game you can buy one of these for upwards of $8! id hope millennium stadium sells brains and not fosters for an outrageous price. anheuser busch deserves some credit but those guys are business men first second and third and brewers last.
Bud lite is the McDonald’s of cheeseburgers, the dominos of pizza, the Joe Osteen of preachers, the backstreet boys of music, I can’t think of anything else. Putting a Brooklyn Lager next to a bud lite is like putting Don Carson preaching next to Joel Osteen. That is my best example. From a person who preaches with thought, and time and makes you think through every bible vs. To someone who rarely reads the bible at all. Kinda like bud lite using very little hops.
We can thank this beer and ones like it for the following classic Monty Python joke: "American beer is like making love in a canoe. It's f***ing close to water!"
You can drink it all night and be fine in the A.M. I imagine that's why most people like it, such as myself. Now I bet you can drink craft beers all night and have a good buzz and be fine the next day, but you must admit it took some work to get there, yeah? I love a good craft beer, maybe two to start off a weekend. But once the good vibrations start jigglin' I go to bud light.
Bill Bryson reflects on this race for the lowest denominator in Notes from a Big Country. There are so many people across the pond, a large proportion of them will like this, bless them.
I don't know how big achievement it is to brew consistently flavorless beer. Next time I tap some water in to a glass, I'll pat my self on the back for consistently making it taste like water :)
Extremely light= Bud LIGHT. Mass Produced=Top selling beers in the WORLD. Also why are you looking for things you know aren't there, its a Macro lager light beer, you obviously want Craft malty, hoppy beer. So why take this beer and hold it up to the same standards as those beers. You want a fine steak from a white table cloth restaurant, which is great, so do I on certain occasions. But, I also know that on my lunch break from work I can't get that, and I have to go to a fast food joint, and I'll be satisfied just the same, because I know what to expect and I'll get that. Just like I know what to expect and I'll get that from a five star restaurant. It's just that easy.
I would guess 99% of places aren't selling Bud Light exclusively, even among commercial beers it is not the best in the world by any means, so chances are there is probably an alternative on sale that could also be enjoyed by someone that doesn't want Bud Light, it's not even about it having to be punching you in the face with flavour, many German beers while having flavour are very mild with it and easy to drink, which is almost essential at something like Oktoberfest where you are going to be drinking a lot of beer over a long period of time, though I can agree on that on certain occasions a lager like this can be enjoyed, much like in a similar way those German festival beers are, preferably ice cold as there isn't much in the way of flavour to lose from chilling it that much anyway, I will admit to liking the odd Carling, I don't particularly enjoy it as much as any of the beers in other categories in most situations, but if I am in a pub and there isn't a beer I prefer and they don't have any Cider that I also like but is a back up that I can put up with if I am really wanting a beer, even then I would often choose a soft drink over a lager,, the whole "Big companies can't make good beer" is not a thing, Guinness makes fantastic products that aren't the main one that people choose, the West Indies Porter for example is wonderful, it isn't about "craft vs commercial" it is about not liking that particular beer, yes it is in my opinion bland and not something I would have in my fridge on a daily basis but if there is literally nothing else I will drink it if it is cold enough.
Oh and to show I am not biased against Budweiser I actually enjoy Bud '66 or whatever it is called on the off chance I see it and fancy it, though that is very rare.
I can't believe I use to drink this shit when I was younger.. Then again, getting lit was my only goal at that age.. So as long as it had alcohol in it, I would drink it lol.
Now hold on people!! This is the number one beer in the USA...and that sized can is the perfect size to wash down a couple cheeseburgers on your lunch interval at the Chrysler factory.
Ronald Theriot i noticed that Bud light especially is really popular in the United States people drink it a lot in California state where my family live and in the northeast of the United States PA New York area or the South.
its more of a money thing than a preference thing. I'm not sure anyone actually enjoys it, but they drink it cause its usually the cheapest stuff they can get.
It’s very poor and there’s hardly any alcohol in it which is a double whammy. It’s so low alcohol AND it has very little character. Absolutely NO reason to drink this. No reason at all!
I rather drink king cobra over this budlight or Budweiser and four peaks golden lagar has more taste then those 3 together cause has some hops very smooth not too light or heavy just right about 5.5.
@AmzingBeerDrinkngMan I think the internet is damaging these big company's like never before, with our word on good beer they are doomed to failure. Unless they start brewing craft beer themselves but that would be a disaster
Excellent! That looked more like flat cider or cheap apple juice and not very appetising! I have a boy in work with me (in his mid to late 20's) who drinks only lagers... mostly the German/Belgium type. I have tried my best to educate him about the beauty of ales but he "doesn't like the bitter aftertaste" to use his words. But apparently, he has friends who are big on ales so that's something.
Why no head? Maybe there's still soap on the inside of the glass, that'll kill the head on lager. I've poured Bud Light (not my choice), it should make a nice head. Also, as far as I know there's no maize in Bud Light, rice, yes.
I hate how craft beer drinkers compare these light lagers to water. Water is a good and pure liquid, this shit is just nasty. Compare them to poison, not water, you're tainting its name.
Budlight is great for people that don't like beer.
It's for people who want to get drunk on a tight budget. You can buy a 30 pack of 12oz cans for about 20 bucks, so why pay 50 bucks for beer when 20 will do? I don't drink this pisswater, I can't. Or you could get lit off of 3 or 4 Jai Alai's...And not feel poisoned in the morning.
Tman2217
idk..I question some of the ingredients that are put into the macros.

Tman2217
I have no issues with Sam Adams. Great example of a micro that hit it big. Not a huge lager fan but their Rebel Rouser is great!
its basically a beer flavored sports drink.
Bud light is like drinking wet air.
Found it weak shite , bloody awful
My uncle once told me (in my youth) when he saw me buying a couple of Buds.."You might as well drink from the lake" :) And I agree. Nowadays I prefer IPAs and trying out a lot of stuff Ive never tasted before.

I wont lie, it looked like you was pouring water out of the can
Real american beer is not these massed produced light lagers.
Yeah America have helped bring back the craft beer scene and have some of the best craft breweries.
American Pale Lagers are "brewed" in much the same way the Three Stooges prepare chicken soup.
I'd say it's refreshing the same way cold carbonated water is refreshing. It doesn't make me want to gag, but damn. Corn soda with some alcohol. It's so precisely engineered to be so inoffensive.
mcgibs it’s made with rice.
...and yet it greatly offends me
You hit the nail on the head regarding consistency. A fair review.
I love this stuff.... my windows have never been cleaner!

Haha well said, lol. I was sent this from America for a tongue in cheek review.
"It's lacking in everything I believe in."
Haha, well put.
This has taken the long time American number one spot. Yet in many taste tests with other light beers, most couldn't tell them apart. This isn't even Popsi McLager. It's poxy McLager.

Totally agree with you're review. Drinking a Troegs Nugget nectar ale right now, and its no Bud Light, very tasty, cheers.
@BeerGogglesReviews I tried drinking the rest of this after the review, must have taken me an hour and a half, im not one for waste but this was a real struggle. Cheers Terry

@dethwizard I have not drank Bud on tap in ages, I should go out and give it a go sometime, just to see how it fairs to the Craft Beers I have grown to love, cheers
@nearfall76 Yes agree, they are brewers last of all, but yes the Brains SA is in the Millennium Stadium, goes down very well, cheers
"It don't look like piss, I'm not drinking that" funniest line in a beer review ever, I would honestly drink piss over Bud Light, Bud Light is liquefied sensory deprivation..

You get no sun or hot weather in UK...no need for light refreshments
@GrymWraith Thanks very much, its a shame that so many people find this type of drink acceptable, cheers for watching.
@realaleguide You should search for Czechvar, it's the import version of Budvar.

Fair play Simon, you took the 'crap beer' bullet for us!! Still at least it might clean your drains out!!
Hilarious, nice one!
I'm not drinking that, it doesn't look like piss.... sums it up perfectly.
You reviewed the 4.2% abv version of this. The UK version is even worse at 3.8%!
Ha Ha this comment made me chuckle to myself, cheers you have made my morning.
It’s ok on a hot day as a refresher instead of a soda.
I'm an American from Alabama. Bud Light was the first beer I ever tried at the ripe age of 12, I thought it was awesome! solid beer review
amazing how this beer majority always have some ignorant gibberish to talk down on
when its the number one selling in usa. not to mention what u just said.. they rather take this than ipa.
@SmedleyDouwright Yep something of that order to be reviewed soon :)
@strangeones4 It wasnt very nice this, your Craft Beers are the way forward though, really enjoy reviewing beer like Dogfish, Stone etc. I think mass produced lager brewing is doomed now, too many people drinking proper good beer, cheers
@zzzzzz69 Very good point, you are right its closer to poison than water.
I've been drinking nothing but imperial stout for years and now I can't touch that shit. If I want water I'll just drink water.
@tubejoust Shows how much I know about the stuff, cheers
There are great Lagers, there are great beers from America, but Budweiser and Bud Light and the other Light beers meet neither requirement.
@percaine Yes very true, its just a shame its like that, cheers
@DavidRed2 I can get that over here David, I shall seek a bottle of the original Bud out, cheers
I will have to review Carling soon to make amends for not showing me pouring it down the sink, cheers Nigel.
@Donut8Danggs Thanks, cheers :)
Good review. Next, Miller Lite?
i dont know if its like this in the UK but at a pro sports game you can buy one of these for upwards of $8! id hope millennium stadium sells brains and not fosters for an outrageous price. anheuser busch deserves some credit but those guys are business men first second and third and brewers last.
Well said sir!
@RealAle1977 All the views as well, wasnt expecting it, cheers
@fxone10 Hahaha just watched it back, very true, cheers
@marcelbraux Thanks, cheers
@leannmetalhead Yes agree with you, people drink this because it tastes like water and they are mentally choosing not to taste anything, cheers
@tazareal Oh its rice is it, shows how much I know about the stuff :) Cheers
@JoeHell67 Hahahaha cheers Joe :) it was the only glass that was big enough :)
@samreed899 Thanks very much, cheers :)
@realaleguide It is and its sad to think that a lot of people think that this is all that America has to offer in the way of beer
You can drink it all night and be fine in the A.M. I imagine that's why most people like it, such as myself. @daveheart27 Why do people drink this stuff?? Cheers
Good review
I don't know how big achievement it is to brew consistently flavorless beer. Next time I tap some water in to a glass, I'll pat my self on the back for consistently making it taste like water :)

@gez1308 Yes Gez totally agree, I have some Lager by Sixpoint which I be is amazing. This stuff dont come close, cheers
you should do Tecate
@jtq69 Oh no, never. I only judge you guys on Dogfish, Goose Island, Bear Republic, Sixpoint and so on. This Bud stuff is like Carling in the UK.
Real Ale Craft Beer not that I’m a fan of it but carling has far more flavour than this
Well, it's a widely loved (not by me) beer. And, that's where it stands.
Ronald Theriot i noticed that Bud light especially is really popular in the United States people drink it a lot in California state where my family live and in the northeast of the United States PA New York area or the South.
I love this stuff 4 bottles for £3 quid in Tesco its like Coca Cola of the Beer world mass produced cheap beer.
It's horrible watery rubbish just like Carling.
Bud Light ads will be all over the Super Bowl next week. I don't think I have ever seen you not love a beer
its more of a money thing than a preference thing. I'm not sure anyone actually enjoys it, but they drink it cause its usually the cheapest stuff they can get.
If it's not enjoyable, why bother at all? Unless one is looking to get drunk, but that's just sad.
you should review miller lite haha
Essentially it's alcoholic fizzy water. Barely more flavorful than air.
Bud light is perfect for washing cars with.
JÄgermeister coffee review please
I have never heard of this beer before.
Just pretend you never heard of it now, not worth your time or money.
@@k.c.lejeune6613 Heard of what?
I think their dilly dilly ads are funny but I wouldn't drink it
great thing is you can still drive after having 10 of them lol.
I hate how craft beer drinkers compare these light lagers to water. Water is a good and pure liquid, this shit is just nasty. Compare them to poison, not water, you're tainting its name.
Looks like a cross between an energy drink, and a boost (chocolate bar).
