  • The Dasa Mahavidya are ten Hindu goddesses that are considered to represent the evolution of the soul. The word dasa means "ten", maha means "great", and vidya means "wisdoms". The Dasa Mahavidya are usually named in the following sequence:
Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshvari, Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala
The Dasa Mahavidya are also known as the ten forms of Goddess Shakti. They are worshiped to seek various powers, including good protection against enemies, the evil eye, and other negative energy. Worshiping the Dasa Mahavidya is also said to help people overcome negative tendencies, and is a guide to spiritual awakening for devotees.
In worship, the worshipper concentrates on a single goddess to please her and seek her blessings. Yantra and Mantra are considered to be effective mediums through which worshippers can reach their target.
The Dasa Mahavidya also have specific directions in which they reside:
Goddess Kali and Tara Maa are for North direction
    Devi Bhuvaneshvari is West direction
Shodasi (Tripura Sundari) is the Ishaan corner
