Can you do a video tour with your new setup like the one you had before? Your sim is inspiring and I have modeled mine after yours. You are amazing! Thanks for sharing your sim with the world!
Thanks for watching! Glad you like the setup and hopefully yours is look great too. Some time in the near future we do plan to do another sim tour video to show all of the changes since the first walkthrough video.
It looks amazing apart from the distortion on the side screens. I am using 5 external visuals screens on the sim I am building. An RTX 3080 drives the front three (@2560x1440 each) and a Quadro P2000 drives the two side displays (1600x1200 each). Each screen is a separate full-screen viewport. I am running 3 instances of xplane on a single computer. 1 is the master and does the flight model and drives the air manager panels. 1 is an external visuals and drives the front screens. 1 is external visuals and drives side screens. I used nvidia control panel to control the GPU that each instance uses for rendering.
Hey thanks for the info, how is your performance running 5 individual screens, and does running multiple instances of xplane on a single computer slow your performance or help?
@@flightsimhomecockpit6026 Hi I get between 20 and 30fps. I have limited each visuals instance to 30fps and the master to 25fps through nvidia control panel. It stays locked at that max framerate most of the time, and seems smooth enough for me. It can drop to 20fps at times though. I run with objects, Visual affects and textures set to "High" and I am using a Flywithlua script that improves performance a bit at those settings by changing draw distances for some things (like cars and aircraft). Performance actually improves with running multiple instances. One instance of XPlane maxes out one CPU core and uses maybe another two at lower percentage. If you run two instances it seems to scale better, as it uses more CPU cores and I can use the power of several GPUs. I am using simlinks in Windows so all instances share the same sceneries and aircraft (to save disk usage). Each instance has it's own "output" (settings) and "Resources" (plugins) folder. My CPU is a Ryzen 5950X, but running 3 instances isn't taxing it that much (20% utilised). Most of the load is on the GPUs, so having several instances helps with that. I can try to post a video if you like. Right now, I haven't built any cockpit. I only have screens hooked up to the computer to do performance testing.
Your home sim looks great. Thanks for the original tour and I can’t wait to see the new tour. Can you tell me what size the monitors you are using for your dash and are they running AirManager for touch screen?
AWESOME setup! I wanted to ask, do you find it to be more immersive with the controls being on monitors inside the cabin now as opposed to just on the tv screens before? I get that it gives you the feel of an actual dash now, but I couldn't get over how real it looked in your original tour video where all that was on the tvs and in front of you was just your yoke, throttle and ipads. Also loved how the virtual cabin structure of whatever plane you were flying just seemed to "fit" into the shell you built. I had always planned to build out a cockpit with great detail, then just use the tv's for the scenery. But now I'm wondering if I don't need quite the detail I think I do...maybe just build the cockpit up to the pilot's seat/dash, then let the software fill in the rest of the cabin detail via the screens. I notice you fly mostly jetliners...does this set up work well with smaller aircraft like Cessna's or Cirrus planes?
Thanks! The setup does work with Cessna, beechcraft, airliners, all of them. Now, running air manager, it only works with the 737 but that's ok, it made a huge difference in terms of immersion with the physical dash and panels on separate monitors. If you don't care about the dash itself, the VC looks great with any plane. We debate going back to just the 3 main tvs so we can fly other planes again but the 737 is on another level with air manager.
@@ksp1278 The way we have rebuilt our cockpit we only fly the 737. In addition, we don't use air manager to run the HSI's which don't work in air manager. Air manager might work with other aircraft but for our setup it does not. We have rebuilt the setup completely and plan to make a new video showing the new setup. Hope that makes more sense.
It took me some time to figure out that you have since added an additional frame in the middle, in front of your three big 55" screens, to act as a real dashboard, and then added three smaller monitors (27 inch?) to act as instrument panels. Is that pretty correct? And, do you find that this setup will still allow you to fly pretty much all planes (i.e. even the smallest props), or will you generally stick with airliners now you've added the large physical dashboard? BTW I didn't know that airmanager allows you to project entire portions of a panel -- I thought it was only to put together "pieces" of instruments on one screen for convenience, but not realistic looking. Also BTW, I find it difficult you can run all of this and still get respectable frames, the Zibo 737 no less. I have i9-9900k, 2070 Super, 32 gb ram, and I still can't use 3 monitors or I get terrible frames and hiccups.
Hey Mike, so the new screens are awesome and make a huge difference running Air Manager. It does however limit us to the 737s and maybe the kingair. We took a screenshot of the zibo VC and overlayed air Manager gauges and zhsi gauges to their respective location on the panel. Unfortunately air Manager doesnt have gauges for the FF757/767 or the Dden Challenger (at least not many gauges) but in our opinion it's totally worth being stuck to just the 737-700/800/900. We weren't sure at first but now that we've come this far and have flown it a decent amount, there's no going back. It's too awesome. Feels very realistic when you can look over the dash or out the windows. And the RTX2070 we use runs great. But we do use 3jFPS wizzard for flywithLUA and our settings sliders are not at full across the board. But the way we have it setup, our FPS are good enough and smooth. Also found out it's important to make sure your settings for your TV's are set to 60hz, not 30hz. There was jumpy-ness and stutters on 30hz. At 60hz, perfectly smooth
@@flightsimhomecockpit6026 Did you have to switch the view in x-plane when you moved the controls to the new monitors? I'm still pretty new to the software, but my guess is you switched to the "Forward scenery only" view? Does that mean you no longer get any type of interior cabin detail like you did before...mainly with planes like the King Air? Speaking of the King Air, does that also mean your engines/props no longer show up on your tv screens now when you fly those?
Hello friend!!! How are you??? How can you Hide the TV Bezels??? It´s coooll!!! Can you help me friend?? What´s your setup and size of tv´s? Tkd a lot friend!!!!
ua-cam.com/video/wo5wl80acqs/v-deo.html Here's a walk through video showing our setup! We've added the extra monitors running Air Manager since the video was made but otherwise it's still basically the same setup
The center window post is just black poster board cut and folded to that shape and taped to the ceiling. The monitors are connected to a docking station which is run by a laptop with Air Manager. The monitors are screwed to a piece of wood to hold them together. We removed the bezels around the monitors. The dash is just a piece of wood laid across the top of the monitors and taped down. The center window support rests behind the monitors and Infront of the TVs running xplane. The yokes are 2 CHPro yokes taken apart and we custom built linkage between them with PVC and pulleys. That project took about 3 weeks alone. Hope this helps.
FlightSimHome Cockpit yes definitely gonna take me a little to get the layout perfectly done. Hopefully we can do a shared flight one day i want to start a channel but im a. Noob when it comes to content and software lol edits would suck
@@djc4604 we custom built a desk and center pedestal to fit the setup. We made 3 stands for the TVs all the same height and cut the desktop as one piece and screwed it to the 3 tv stands to hold it all together.
That's pretty neat love the virtual mcp sure beats my old worn out cp flight mcp up on the shelf...I use a Logitech autopilot now works like a charm

Hello
its awesome!!
where did u get the ND, i can not find anywhere??????
I have the same question.
When's an overhead panel coming?
We were just discussing that last night. Maybe soon. We have some ideas.
Can a single pc run all this setup ? And what is your fram rate ?
The PC runs xplane 11 and we use a laptop to run Air Manager. Typically we're getting 25fps-40fps depending on where were flying.
FlightSimHome Cockpit what is your specs
How did u stretch the screens across
In display settings there is an option for window mode or full screen mode, you want window mode
