Shawn: This is, in my opinion, by far the best upload you've produced... and I've seen so many. On point with every sentence, and some nuggets contained within. Keep up the great work! A massive 👍
It’s definitely a review of topics previously covered on this channel, but if one person sees the video and gets something out of it, it was worth it. More original content is coming soon. Thank you!
Delighted to have stumbled upon your channel. As a CFA with 30+ years in the investment management industry, I appreciate your no-nonsense, professional approach to the collectibles market. As a degenerate comic book collector, your content has aided me to focus my “collecting” strategy to intentionally prune my collection. Many thanks!
I watch both yours and Rudi's channel. Unlike Rudi, you don't have a secret agenda, you are not trying to sell me anything. That makes your content much more valuable.
My net worth was made up of 50% collectibles and 50% stocks. Now collectibles are down to 15% because of your videos. Everything I have left are things that I would keep no matter the value. I had myself convinced that every collectible I bought was an investment. I’ve binged watched at least 100 of your videos the past couple weeks. I will approach things much differently now. Thank you! I’m no longer a Timmy! 😂
Dude, don't be buying a bunch of expensive tchotchkies. All the mementos and memories will be found along the way through your life. Keep all of your collectibles as a great hobby to share with friends and family. Idk why I searched this video up but it's bs.
Love it. A true eye opener. Lit a fire under my 🍑 and motivating me to work harder at burning my inventory. If you don’t list it then it can’t sell. Rule:1 Don’t get high on your own supply. IMO: Reserved investments is the best channel on UA-cam or any platform.
Hee Shawn, the refelection on what Timmy's, Jimmy's and Poindexters will say and do is enough to make me smile every video you make. As a comic collector I have followed your advice not to put my savings in comics :)
Hello sir. Been following you for a few years now and my takeaway is take the profit/ don’t hold for some pipedream big payday/ and the biggie, am I collecting or dealing. Although not new topics for you, ones that everyone need to hear. It’s helped me weed out the few items I must have and everything else. Thanks and keep spreading the knowledge.
I'm 100% sure Rudy watches everyone of your videos. He mention key terms and collectables categories that make me immediately think of you. Wish he and you did a collab or even a simple chat. I know you and him have very similar views but also opposing views. It would be such a treat to watch the insights of two experts in the trade.
Given the volume of time Rudy works, I think it’s impossible he would be watching all his videos. Good chance Rudy barely watches UA-cam. I would completely agree tho he’s aware of, and has seen this channel. There are times where Rudy has made key comments that are for sure reactions to this channel directly, or possibly to patron comments regarding this channel. What sucks is Rudy never collabs with anyone, unless you consider cracking packs with Open Boosters, Fable Hunters, etc. as a collab. But I get it, he does his own thing, and is probably too busy to care about something like that.
thanks for your ending, focusing on income producing assets. I've just turned 26 and plan to invest in some of my first stocks ever and plan to do reliable ones that give dividends. up to now ive only collected pokemon cards and am trying to rid most of my collection and keep some vintage top 5% cards that i personally enjoy either way
That stuff about short term profit is also great as a player, if you crack something rare/valuable from a prerelease, limited event or win some kind of promo. if you don’t need it sell it you may not play for free but you can play for a lot cheaper that way.
So true about stupid people. I have family members who lost thousands on storage lots. Myself I moved on to stocks thanks to Shaun's advice. Haven't looked back.
I’m mostly a collector only I never sell my items as I have grow old with them, they remind me of my youth🔥this video only applies to investor only, I’m a true collector I just don’t sell🔥
GREAT VIDEO and article. I would like to humbly add "liquidity" as something to consider if you want to pivot from collecting to dealing or investing. Take 2....cut your losses. I've found over the 30 yrs. dealing low end collectibles, that the ones that have fallen or crashed that are no longer "hot" anymore are hard to move at any price. Wayne makes it sound like stocks where we can get in and get out at any price we want but I disagree, Hopper
Remember, if you make safe bets and always sell when the price is double, you dunk on most people waiting for the price to triple, let alone go x10. What goes up must come down, and usually at the same speed.
Hey Shawn, can you help me explain / give a good analogy to someone that a high grade pokemon game isn’t an item of historical value, but is wholly an item with nostalgic value
I have explained this in other videos, but history involves the course of human existence that helps shape our world and it’s future; for better or worse. For instance, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, or even putting a man in space. In the grand scheme of things, a collectible or the very first comic book or video gave are not historic. How much does an original copy of the Declaration of Independence sell for versus an Action Comics #1? Collectibles are rooted in nostalgia and nostalgia eventually dies…history never dies. That doesn’t mean history is always a good investment, it just means it’s more cyclical in nature…
@@ReservedInvestments thanks shawn, makes sense, I’ll just tell this Timmy he is a noob and that no matter how much he likes Pokémon’s, they aren’t shaping the human race
Just found this video but it as much needed reality check amount the UA-cam and TikTok hype train. I certainly fell into the trap of becoming too attached to common mass produced collectibles and hoarding.

One of the best videos on this channel. Thank you

Out of curiosity, what collectibles were you holding long term?

Shawn gives the best advice, if you’re able to bear it. Thanks for all for work sir!
I offer the sour pill on this channel. It can be hard to swallow, but the truth always is…

Great update. Love to see more updated videos like this.
Another video packed full of good advise. Keep them coming. 👍🏻
I really enjoy your content, and I know from watching you I have grown as a collector and a person, thank you.

Great stuff as always! I have been taking some profits lately and it’s hard at first but gets easier once you get over the first couple of big sales.
Amazing video.. thank you

This is a collectibles finance channel. That should tell you all you need to know....

Rule 1. YOU NEED TO SELL. Otherwise you're just a hoarder.
@almarcel7764the distinction between a collector and hoarder is a fine and very dangerous line 😅
Thank you very much
Your best video to date.
Thank you!
Hey I love how long your videos are 😊😊😊

He has more than one video talking about these topics. Check them out!
