Wow, that was a lot of tanks! The Tunnel Inn would be a fun place to stay and watch and listen to the trains. I would sleep like a baby listening to the trains all night. I guess it would depend on how active it would be, but at any rate, it would be an awesome stay. That was a great revisit and a fun video, thanks JP!
Thanks for the cool train video. The patience you show waiting for the trains to come through the tunnel is appreciated. I would not have your patience and would have probably been checking out something close by and missed the train coming out of the tunnel. Thanks for sharing these great videos with us.
That is so cool how there is a viewing hole on the bridge. I was born deaf in my left and only having one to hear out of all my life I don't hear well in that one either. When I hear things in the distance I never know which way the sound is coming from. I have literally run to the opposite side of the yard looking for a crop duster plane while everyone else is opposite me laughing cause I look like chicken little waiting for something to happen.... lol😅😂😅😂 ✌
Great Video JP and awesome view of the train!!! The 5 metre Carbon Fiber selfie stick made by Patrick Dickenson on You Tube for filming his tree camping video, would be handy in this situation to get closeup shots of the train coming out of the tunnel and going through. He uploaded a video on the making of it around 5 years ago.
Have there been talks of stabilizing the older tunnel the sealed off to the left so that people can walk through it? I ask because an old civil war-era railroad tunnel in Tunnel Hill Georgia was able to be restored and saved so that people could walk through it and I think the same could be done with the old tunnel at gallitzin
Great footage of the NS train coming through the tunnel. And how cool is it there's The Tunnel Inn Bed & Breakfast right next to the tracks!?😊 So I Googled the name and found a really cool video I think you'll like, Jay, because of the bonus footage near the end of the brief tour, was a special tour of the inn's basement, where the owner, Bob, shows him his HO scale layout that took him 2 years to set up when he moved there from Massachusetts. (I don't think I'm allowed to share links from other channels, so I'll just tell you the channel name: MarkTheLostTraveler; and the episode: The Tunnel Inn Bed & Breakfast Gallitzin, PA.) Anyway, it's about an 8-minute video, I hope you like it. Might be a cool place to visit on another one of your excursions. Love your videos! Thanks for bringing us along!❤🚂
NS owns all the lines for all the tracks. Gallitzin tunnel is the abandoned one. After the 96 double stack project it was closed. The New Portage Tunnel is orig the Allegheny Portage Railroad, its the New Portage tunnel. Backside of the tunnel is trespassing. Past the yellow gate its NS property deff not smart. You could see trains constantly or nothing for hours, it all varies. Plus the hill by the school it echoes so its hard to tell if a EB is going down track 1 or 2, 3. The Tunnel Inn is a great place, i am a frequent flyer whether staying or swinging by for the day. Btw the caboose is being repainted. 😊 -MissyG watch my videos for more train action. Tons of Pittsburgh Line action.
WOW ! So cool great shots Thank you. Question on the other side tunnel was it a Vehical pass or was it another RR Tunnel. One would think that the smell, would be hazardest to people espically mixed with the Carbon dioxide. Or am I way off base. I'm very curious. I don't remember. I know you showed us this before but truthfully I can't see. To remember.
1 day ago? i feel so much closer to you now, lol. I don't remember what it was, and i should, but i saw something about southern , that i didn't like. wasn't the derailment. but, as it is,,,, dukah kiss happens, no matter what. (never trust a man with one eye brow) lol and again, another wonderful video, with information. Do your adventures slow down, when stuff starts to grow,, ground shit, etc. just becareful out there, i might have said that before, but.... it's the daddy in me, lol. don't knock it, i'm 59, going on 90. hey, how about getting a train car, or even yet, an engine ? i have a few bucks, but not all.
Thanks for Revisiting the Gallitzin Tunnels with me. I may need to book a night or two at the b&b next to it.
That'd be awesome!
That sounds like fun !!💙👍
Do it!!

I was there earlier this month on May 3 and only caught two trains, a similar tanker train and a garbage train.
love the trains
The tunnel looks tiny until the train goes through it.
Woah !!! Loved this thanks 😎

Not that I'm aware. The tunnel would have to be completely gone through with repair work and would be a costly job.
NS owns that property & really no safe access to either end of the disused tunnel.
Awesome!

8:55 why aren't they using the other tunnel?
Conrail closed it after it no longer had a use for it.
Nice video JP 😊
Thanks
Oh and the mower stopped when a horn was blowing, i was just at the inn and was talking about this video with bob.
🤣
