I loved you took some close ups of plants and trees while walking around as well, that adds to that feeling of "being there" with you as you walk around. The river is amazing to see. I like seeing the tiny fish swimming under the surface of the water. Interesting to learn about the tail of the Dragon..sounds like a great place to go for a drive. Wow… cool to see the remainder of a road and steps. Must have been a wonderful place to live in a beautiful nature area away from everyone. It’s amazing what you can discover if you go exploring. 👍😊🇨🇦
This was the Scona (Cherokee for - across the water) Lodge which was a hidden luxury resort located at the foot of the mountain. There was a very selective group of people and very wealthy at that time who stayed there. Not much is known about who visited the lodge and seemed to be strategically placed/hidden in the mountains. The resort was beautiful with an 18-hole golf course. Not sure if you noticed this but the kudzu vines covering the foundation are the only vines in that area and appear to be placed there to hide the remains (mysterious). The resort was disassembled and removed to make it appear it was never there. Who visited and what happened there has been lost in time and we may never know anything about its secrets. The daughter of the family that managed the resort was tracked down once and questioned, but her stories focused mainly on her dog and only raise more questions about it.
Hi MsKayak, that was a very exciting adventure. I love the green colors of the lakes' surroundings, so beautiful very.cool to the eyes. But when you entered the forest I was like watching a scene in a horror movie haha, its a little bit scary in there with all those old structures. The structures and ramp were once part of a ferry system. There was once a hustle and bustle of a lodge for the once Alcoa Aluminum Co.
