In this Premiere Pro tutorial, we will create cool long trailing lights that will add a nice touch to any high contrast video clip. In my case I used a clip of some traffic driving down a highway and you will see how the Echo effect in Premiere can really serve to stretch out a clip and add a trippy motion blurred type of effect to the head and tail lights of these cars. The effect has so many uses! Thanks for watching!

another thing you could do is duplicate your clip and give it some contrast so the highlights are more prominent and the shadows are darker than the original clip and set it to lighten. Add the echo effect like he said and then animate the opacity to make them fade in and out. It'll just give your trails a bit more flavour
This effect looks great on moonlight in reflective water, and on time laps deforming moving clouds, also on waves with a shorter amount of frames. Just remember to have the camera be steady, or it will look like a trippy walk through the scenery, unless that is the effect that you are going for, also this effect looks cool on slow motion falling rain, especially near a lamp post, where you can see the rain drops fall like long streaks, it might actually also look great on slow motion snow.
Thanks! Most of video creators just apply transition and effect presets witch makes all clips looks too similar. I'me very interested in learning how to create effects and transitions from scratch and you give perfect tutorials!
thank you... very clear and comprehensible
oh my..i was just thinking of how to do this the other day. Thanks!

How can i get this look/effect on just the lights only? Kinda like a throwback NBA highlights from courtside looking upwards and only the lights itself is giving the trail only?
nice!

Hi. Is the Echo Effect the same basically as doing it the other way where you duplicate and place them on different tracks? Thanks This is such a great trick, Especially since DSLRs can only record footage at 1/4 second.
First... since 2015.
thank brother its totaly undrestable, buti think is need a super GPU to do that echo effects
I'm guessing there is also a way to reduce intensity of echo layers to get trails that fade off along the length
How do I do this on FCP?
Whats fps usem
is the original video need to be a time lapse
Second like, third like... where to put them?) Back here aGAIN and aGAIN)))
