I love this one as well, in a way that I can't really express. Sure, there are things you can nitpick, but I don't really care. Very excited to check out the score only version. The Despecialized Versions of the Original Trilogy actually has those too, which is so awesome.

I'm with you dude. I have seen this film I would say around 30 times. I think it is perfect, I have zero issues with it. I definitely think this film is in the same tier as A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. It's like Rian Johnson went into my brain, took my dream sequel to the original trilogy from my child hood, and filmed it... but it's even better than that lol.

I'm with you. As a cinephile this is easily one of the best blockbusters of the decade and in my opinion the best film of the saga. "Plot holes" honestly don't count for anything with scenes like Holdo's sacrifice or Snoke's fight with the guards: it would be like saying that the Modern Times scene in which Charlot ends up in the gears sucks because "implausible".

I also watched the trilogy in the cinema for the premiere, I don’t love the new trilogy, but I had a really good time, just eating fast food and watching Star Wars, my favorite of the saga is the common pick, Empire, no shame in loving Last Jedi, it’s my favorite of the new trilogy, but I don’t love it.

I’m sure this was an interesting viewing experience! I’m glad you enjoy it so much but my main gripes are: 1. everything that occurs on Canto Bight (scrap this and give me more of Luke training Rey) 2. Finn’s story arc and his interaction with Rose - just makes me zone out each time 3. Snoke’s demise (no problem with them killing him off per se, but once the shock value of them being ballsy enough to do it wore off, it just felt empty to me. It also made me always wonder if Snoke being nothing more than a pawn for Palpatine was the true vision) 4. Po being made to look a like a fool by Holdo. 5. Didn’t love their handling of Luke, but not as detrimental to my enjoyment as it was for some. 6. I wasn’t keen on Rey being a nobody, but that isn’t just specific to this movie, and I’m not mad keen on them ultimately making her a Palpatine. These issues aside, it looks great (that scene when Holdo enters light-speed is maybe the nicest scene in the saga) and is well made. Plus, I’ll always have a soft spot for Ahch-To, as I got to visit Skellig Michael. Overall, it’s still Star Wars and I’ll always watch 🤷‍♂️

I actually think that where every character fails in TLJ, and learns a lesson, the Poe/Holdo thing is an ironic situation. She's trying to prove a point and teach him something, but she ultimately fails but not trusting him enough. They were both in the wrong really, and it gives Poe a lot of friction to deal with as he's essentially stuck on that ship for most of the movie.

RazorwireReviews yeah, that’s another interpretation for sure. I’m just not sure of the direction they took some of the characters, or whether what they did worked for me. I will say that I’m kind of in the mood to watch it again through a new lens!

@@MrBigred1990 To the Snoke question, the answer is simple: they just didn't have a vision. It was supposed to be structured like the original trilogy, which is "we make self-contained films with different directors who calmly process the story" but Abrama hit 7 with his trash "Mystery Box" and made fans believe there was a grand plan behind , creating unnecessary expectations.

Great video Luke, I wish I could appreciate this film even half as much as you do.
Ps loving the led lights, I've got the cheap Phillips Ambilight 4K tv which adjusts the back light to what's on the screen or the music. It can be a bit slow to adjust sometimes though which can make it a little distracting but I love it. Should probably saved up a bit more cash and got the expensive one though which has a faster processor but hey, I've waffled on too long, bye.
Ps was that an intentional reference to the big lebowski at the end of this video? Probably not.

Great video! I love movie scores and soundtracks and it’s great to here someone being so enthusiastic about them! My favorite movie of all time is Dracula(1992) and I listen to the music in that all the time. I’m also doing a thing called arthouse month on my channel and I just got done with a really bad viewing experience and you sparked the flame back up for my love of cinema. I would be curious to see your opinions on my channel. Glad you keep uploading. Keep up the great work! Love your channel!

I don't really care about haters, I love this movie. I would love to watch this version, unfortunately not being a resident of the USA I cannot access that site that allows you to obtain this copy: I hope it will come out sooner or later on Disney Plus.
Ah, as Alfred Hitchcock said in his famous interview with Truffaut, the best films are those that work even if they are silent.

@@RazorwireReviews Uh, is that a compliment or an insult? Sorry, but I don't understand international slang ah ah ah!
The worst was under a comment from the great Thomas Flight channel, I argued with a guy who said the movie was shit for plot holes. I pointed out to him that films have had plot holes for centuries (as Hitchcock and Truffaut also said if one looks at the forcing, he understands nothing about the film: after all, if analyzing a film were this it would be enough to read the plot on wikipedia), citing various examples , and he said "it can be good for surrealist shits (and already here I had to understand how it would end) but not for fantasy". I pointed out to him that maybe fantasy is the genre with the most forcing and plot holes, taking the first Star Wars as an example, and do you know what his answer was? "There the plot is perfect, the holes unfold because they are the will of the Force". ha ha ha! Never seen anyone climb mirrors like this!
After all, he was someone who said he only followed the critics on UA-cam and not the professional ones (like Roger Erbert) and who hated the politics of the film because it was "impartial", even going so far as to compare Salvador Allende to Kim Jong Un: there I closed the discussion realizing that I wasted my time with a Pinochet fan probably.

Do you have a separate region free player? Because I have a PS4 Pro which I use to watch Blu Rays, and I’ve always thought that wasn’t possible.

@@RazorwireReviews because you mentioned that you were watching TLJ on your PS4 but in previous videos you've shown Region A Criterions, I was wondering if maybe it was possible that the PS4 was in fact region free. Keep up the great work, I'm excited for a new video!
