ive start a nail growth journey i'm a nail biter but watching girls with long natural nails gives me motivation i'm on week 3 and the sally Hansen oil helps keep my hands out my mouth cuz theres no flaked skin i can pick at, i've seen results of 20+ years of nail biting and i don't wanna end up like that i'm 15 btw
Hands up if you just went and applied cuticle oil! *me*. My mum is into her nails and she won't do anything without gloves, like dishes or cleaning, and it makes such a difference to stopping nail damage. I have Lemony Flutter and I apply it at least once a day at work, but tend to forget at home. I do apply hand cream before bed so hopefully that counts!
Ellski Yay, good mum! Good idea having it at work, knowing your own habits make such a difference when you're trying to build a habit. Hand cream definitely counts :).
Questa Jones Any oil will help moisturise the skin and help your nails in the process. Certain oils have certain benefits though, so if you think you need more you could try something else. But if that's working for you by all means keep with it :). Another quick note, when you're young your skin and nails are naturally oily but as you age it dried out, so you may need a different combination one day.
I seriously adore cuticle oil. After I experimented with gel and acrylic for a while my nails were completely ruined and thin and crap. After applying cuticle oil they started to get stronger. They're still short and it's something I've grown to love. Thank you for sharing different brands and types.
I was addicted to biting my nails so I would put cuticle oil because i would stop bitting my nails with cuticle oil on all I have to do is look at pictures of peoples healthy nails and I and obsessed! I use it twice a day. When I wake up and right before I go to bed. My nails are getting longer and I’m no longer addicted to nail biting. Thanks!!
I was a nail biter for years. I managed to grow them thanks to wearing nail varnish (I still bite my nails when I don't wear polish!) but I do have the habit of peeling off nail varnish... Working on stoping that. I'm going to look into cuticle oils today as I think I need to invest! Hopefully it'll help my brittle, flaky nails :)
I started using almond oil right after your video ended and it has been about 1 year since i started using it and my nails look soooo much better and finally they are not as weak as they were mostly because i stopped biting them
My nails are sooo bad... Butttttt... Yesterday I watched your "Strong and long nails" video and today I went to shop, just so I could buy a cuticule oil 😄 Waiting for results ☺
my nails were so bad, I just bought simple jojoba oil and vit E and mixed it 3-4 times a day and now my nails are amazing, makes a huge difference, as long as you just use oil, it can also be simple as olive oil works in the beginning as well. Most important was especially at bedtime make sure you apply the oil.
Hey Jessie, just a tip! When you put a "whitewash" filter over your thumbnails (hopefully you know what I mean??) it makes it look like I've already watched the video when it's in my subscription box, so I always forget to actually watch it!
Rebecca C Thanks, I hadn't thought about that! I'll bear it in mind when editing future thumbnails. I'm always conflicted how to do it when it's not my usual nail art videos!
I LOVE using cuticle oil. My fave is Creative Nail's Solaroil. It smells like almonds and absorbs quite nicely. Also, I use coconut oil on my hands and arms every night at bedtime, and have noticed a definite difference in my skin texture since I started doing that. i am sure it has an effect on my cuticles and nails, as well. Thank you so much for this video. I think i foresee some oil experimentation in my future, maybe even a new favorit! You never know 😉
PalemoonTwilight I haven't actually tried that but I've heard that it's great and studied it when I was training :). Oil is such a good product in general, isn't it!
So many new products to try! I brought a 236ml of Essie Apricot Oil which I'm working through, but as soon as I finish it up I will be back to check out your recommendations again. Great video as always!
I'm obsessed with cuticle oils, butters & creams they seriously help the condition of your nails. I love the combination of lush lemony flutter around my cuticle and nail and I apply O.P.I avoplex to the underside of my nail
I'm going out and buying cuticle oil tomorrow! :D I just had a thought while watching this - if your cuticle oil doesn't have jojoba in it, you could always go out and buy jojoba oil (they usually have it wherever you can buy essential oils - or no doubt you can get it dirt cheap on eBay) and then mix it in with your cuticle oil.
All the nail videos I watch say the product links are down below, but I can never find them no matter how low I scroll... So could someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Hi Jessie, thank you for taking the time to do this video, as soon as it was posted I was so excited to view your advice. I have followed your nail care routine and it does work and couldn't wait until you did a cuticle video and as usual you did not disappoint me. You are so honest and I appreciate your frustration with people and loved how you expresses it lol. Keep up the good work, don't be afraid to do long videos, some of us have long attention spans and take notes.
Haha I almost edited that part out but it just gets sooo annoying! Some people can't handle delayed gratification. Yay I'm glad you don't mind long videos, it's hard to keep ones like this shorter!
I am amazed that so many people below think they need a specific bottle that says "cuticle oil". You could use coconut oil, argan oil, baby oil, olive oil, corn oil .........
Technically, this is true, but certain oils are better for nails for others because they are able to penetrate the nail plate rather than sit on top of it. Jojoba oil in particular has a small enough molecule to be absorbed into the layers of nail, and makes an excellent carrier oil for others like sweet almond or grape seed oil. While baby (mineral) oil is a great moisturizer, it protects by being occlusive rather than absorbing into the nail, and so is not the best choice.
thanks for all the helpful information. my nails always crack half way down my nail bed or split at the tips and I can never seem to get them to grow past a certain point. got some good info with this video....gonna get some cuticle oil and also make something of my own with avocado oil, vit e oil and jojoba oil to use daily also... quick question, how do you get free stuff from companies? is it through blogging and UA-cam?
I know you mentioned that doing cuticle oil once is not a quick fix. I believe you but my nails are already starting to look healthier. I am now getting my daughter to start doing her nails everyday too. Thank you
hi love your channel! by the way is it me or I dont see any of my cuticules.Like I've search on google to see pics before and after and I realize that it's like a thin skin kind of.. but I dont see it so I cant push it back is it normal that I dont see anything?
Nah, it won't be that. Probably your skin is just really dry! Do you submerge your hands in water a lot, or use harsh chemicals? Go swimming? Just keep up with the cuticle oil. If I don't use it for a few days I start to notice a difference too :).
I'll have to research it a bit, but it's best to get a cuticle oil that's a mix of different oils as they all have different benefits for your nail and skin. But if you didn't have any cuticle oil and just had coconut it'd be far better than nothing!
I know that a combo of oils is best for cuticle oil, but of the list given, is there one oil that's a must? I'd heard that jojoba is the go-to oil. Love your vids, btw.
Sam Hugh Yep I'd say Jojoba is my go-to. It depends on your nails and your age though; when you're younger your body produces a lot of oil by itself; as you age you'll need to add more to it.
Yes. Vaseline is great for when you remove acrylics and your nails are trashed. It brings them back fast. This was advice I got from a dermatologist. Apply Vaseline while your hands are still wet, then put on white cotton gloves can be found on amazon.

Good for you! Can you please give us an update on how it's going? I'm on a nail journey too :)

It only cost me $31 on nzsale, so it was a bargin!
I'm obsessed with cuticle oils, butters & creams they seriously help the condition of your nails. I love the combination of lush lemony flutter around my cuticle and nail and I apply O.P.I avoplex to the underside of my nail
Lemony flutter smells so GOOD doesn't it!!
How many times do you apply cuticle oil a day/week? And do you apply it before or after nail polish?
I just used some cuticle oil thanks for telling me what it does !!❤
I have only just started using cuticle oil and it’s amazing I have very weak nails and they are stronger already
My mom is from nz! We’re going there for christmas and it’s really rare to find someone else from there!
I'm going out and buying cuticle oil tomorrow! :D

I love Burt's Bees cuticle oil, I also have tried Solar Oil by CND and is really good. Gelish Cuticle oil is really good too and smells like oranges.

Great video! I have noticed that cuticle oil makes a difference in my nails. The KBShimmer cuticle oil pens are affordable in the US.
I just got Sally Hansen nail and cuticle oil! My nails are so dry from gel nails!!!
I have a quick dry oil... seems like it's probably similar? Safe to use frequently?

Do you know if nz still do beauty expos and where I would go to find them?
Thank you for the great tips. Love your videos.
What do you think of coconut oil? It seems to be all the rage right now. 💗 your channel!
I'll have to research it a bit, but it's best to get a cuticle oil that's a mix of different oils as they all have different benefits for your nail and skin. But if you didn't have any cuticle oil and just had coconut it'd be far better than nothing!
@@naileditnz have you thought of Injections for your top lip? If you do, make a video do we can see!!
GREAT IM RIGHT NOW USING A CUTICLE OIL BY RUBY KISSES
Hi what would u recommend for dry toe nails that fall out?
Kate Marshall, see a dermatologist.
Also, do you use both oil and cream at the same time?
jessbfoster Usually I let the oil set for a little while, but I don't have a hard and fast "rule" - whatever works for you.
Jojoba is the best one.
Made on my birthday ☺️😍
Do a water marble nail tutorial
This video really helps❤️👌🏽
olive oil works as well
Thanks for replying to me on Instagram! Means a lot!
U r the best!!!
Will Vaseline work? 😅
it will moisturize the cuticle but it might not do the same thing
the same thing as the oil*
miss_wengie__ ig yes babe
Yes. Vaseline is great for when you remove acrylics and your nails are trashed. It brings them back fast. This was advice I got from a dermatologist. Apply Vaseline while your hands are still wet, then put on white cotton gloves can be found on amazon.
Olive oil also works.
OMG YES FINALLY!!!!!!! IM SO FREAKIN EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!!! I LOVE YOU DUDE! :******
Haha, I brought this video forward just for you! Hope it was worth the wait!
I found your videos through Nails Mag. You know your stuff, I just subscribed, but 13 minutes and no mention of CND Solar oil. My heart is breaking :(
