A Bohemian Waxwing in Oxford!

The Bohemian Waxwing’s favourite berry the Rowan. There were just two of them on this windy January day, but seven on the previous day. This Waxwing managed to swiftly consume 8 berries before flying into the middle of a tree on the opposite side of their road! He and a mate did alternating sorties, having fed very well before I arrived that morning. They also consume other berries, such as Cotoneaster and Rosehips. They also like Apples. Waxings can turn up anywhere in the UK! They have a trilling call, are Starling-sized and behave like a catwalk model when they throw their heads back with raised crests. Probably because they know they look and are amazing!
