  • The Bohemian Waxwing’s favourite berry the Rowan. There were just two of them on this windy January day, but seven on the previous day. This Waxwing managed to swiftly consume 8 berries before flying into the middle of a tree on the opposite side of their road! He and a mate did alternating sorties, having fed very well before I arrived that morning. They also consume other berries, such as Cotoneaster and Rosehips. They also like Apples. Waxings can turn up anywhere in the UK! They have a trilling call, are Starling-sized and behave like a catwalk model when they throw their heads back with raised crests. Probably because they know they look and are amazing!
