Ford updates the much loved Explorer SUV for 202 with mixed results. The Ford Explorer originally arrived in 2001 and has been a staple in family transportation but now the competition is fierce. The latest Ford Explorer is built on a new rear wheel drive architecture for improved handling but the ride is rather rough. Power now comes with a standard 300hp 2.3L turbocharger, or EcoBoost, 4-cylinder engine or an optional 3.0L turbocharged V6 in the top trims. Power goes to standard AWD through a new 10-speed automatic transmission that does a good job but at times it searches for the correct gear. The interior of the all-new Ford Explorer still has room for 7-passengers over three-rows but the third row isn't very comfortable and others do a better job. The front seats, however are amazingly comfortable with excellent padding. The Sync infotainment system is a standard 8-inch unit or an optional 10.3-inches. The instrument cluster can also be equipped with a virtual cockpit. The materials inside this new Explorer are what let it down the most. The plastics and fit of the materials is second rate compared to other new entries in the mid-size utility space like the Kia Telluride and Hyundai palisade. Overall, this new Explorer is a missed opportunity, it should have come with a better interior to compete in todays market.

I bought the Ford 2020 Explorer XLT. I am very happy. I had a 2017 Ford Edge. I had no complaints but my wife wanted more room. Prior to the Edge, I had the Ford Taurus. I loved the Taurus. What was so great about the Taurus was despite its size, I got up to 32 MPG on the highway. The Edge was a good vehicle but a bit bland. I had the smaller screen with no navigation. The seats were cloth. The Explorer was a big upgrade. I have leather seats. I have the 8 inch screen which has Android Auto. The extra safety equipment really is welcome. Wha tI really like about the vehicle is that I can easily get 28 MPG even with all the space. I bought the Explorer with 0% during the COVID 19 outbreak. I got several thousand dollars off the MSRP. While the base price might be higher than other vehicles, the actual purchase price for the Explorer was less. With kids and bicycles and everything else I have to worry about with this car, the last thing I am concerned about is whether the silver plastic fits tightly against the black plastic. The Explorer is pretty zippy with its over 300 HP. It gets great mileage. Everyone is comfortable -- particularly me in the driver's seat. It is what it is -- a great family vehicle.
This is an Atlas Blue Explorer XLT with the upgraded 20” wheels -the exact Explorer I bought and drive every day. I knew it was a 4-cyl EcoBoost before buying - and I did so because it’s a great blend of power and efficiency and it can tow 5,300 lbs. (Many consumers don’t need a V6 or V8 anymore). I enjoy the acceleration too - it gets to 75-80 very quickly when joining traffic. Recently went to the beach with this Explorer at full capacity, and the two hour ride was comfortable, mpg efficient (~19 mpg), and enjoyable. Glad they pointed out the left foot standing rest pedal provided for the driver. The interior gets a lot of hate, but what they didn’t show is the interior light blue accent lighting that shines down on the silver panels in the console. It’s obvious when the sun is down. For the second row, there is an entry step next to the seats for ease of access and the middle console is floor level so passengers can easily pass through the middle. The closing factor for me was this: even though it is a base model, the 2020 Explorer XLT looks tough And sporty, but also is more than capable and efficient, too. Something I’d drive.
It seems like Ford designed the new Explorer exclusively for the police 😂
Turbo 4 to save fuel
Comfy front seats for the coppers
Not so comfy back seats for the robbers
That's pretty funny!
The police will be using the 400HP V6 version. Or at least the untuned 375HP. The ST is a beast that can keep up with a 370z while being 3x the size.
@@pt192 The Ford Explorer will keep up until the 370z starts hitting the bends.
Holy smokes, if Motormouth says "hard fail" you know it's really bad. It seems like the whole SUV was an afterthought. Interesting insight from Andrea about the loyal followers, although manufacturers should never take them for granted.
Agree! If someone owned a 20 year old Ford, and had never been inside another vehicle, they would probably like to trade up to this one. Otherwise, nope. It needs an emergency refresh to the interior.
Guys keep in mind that this is the base trim...you can start talking once your discussing the St, Platinum trim.
What's the component that failed hard again? Seems minor to me.
The fact this is a "all new" product is the biggest let down. What a missed opportunity...
As a Ford fan, it's disappointing to watch this honest review. Ford could do so much better. Zach, I was thinking exactly the same thing when you said the Korean manufacturers "will eat their lunch".
1st thing USA shud do is just stop thinking they r best n everything like how Drump sayz.. first b humble. Watch the competition carefully. First competition to look out for is Germany.. errr ATLAS... I mean U ve to sit inside to see how damn spacious it is
2nd the Koreans they ve become masters of interior designs, heck even Lincolns don't feel as luxurious as Hyundais.
3. Marketing, Ford cud ve given a diesel Explorer... fools at Ford don't think wise... when all competition is banging on mpg just give a 3.0v6 diesel or at least a 2.0 twin turbo diesel option... the mpg will just give Ford a new dimension. Ford is full of fools. Even common man has more intelligence than people at Ford.
@@1989rs500 consider that this is the base trim
Really appreciate the honest review instead of sucking up to big companies. Hopefully Ford gets the message and starts improving with a quick refresh like the Civic 2013 (?). Good review!
Thanks for the support, glad you liked the review. :)
I was so disappointed with the new explorer from the first review I saw. Andrea is getting better and better now. Great review. Keep them coming
Thanks for the support! And yes, the Explorer is a disappointment. It's too bad they didn't raise the bar in this competitive market.
Thanks for being honest in your reviews. These are the reviews we need.
Thanks for watching!
I have a 2013 Ford Explorer with over 460,000 miles on it. I purchased it as a family hauler with about 60,000 miles on it. I unintentionally had to use it as a courier vehicle for 97% of those miles. I haven't changed any major parts or had any major parts failures!?!?! I must have one of the best built fords on the planet!
I cannot imagine buying a vehicle and not know what kind of engine I'm getting...
Seems like rental fleet special. Might not be a bad offering if it was priced 5k less across the board.
More like 10k less for the higher trims. A ford SUV isn’t worth 60k. For that price there’s many luxury competitors. However, the ST does catch my attention quite nicely. But again, for 10k less than the sticker price.
I’d say about 10k less for that one and about 15-20k less for the higher trims, I’m sorry but this shit ain’t worth crap
I am not a Ford fan boy. I will say though that driving the twin turbo V6 version of the explorer is a whole lot more fun than driving any of the other main stream brands, like Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota. The problem is that they want about 60 grand in the US for the v6 trim level. For someone who has driven rear drive cars all their life, this is one of the truly fun SUVs to drive. I agree with everything though that the reviewer said about the interior.
You are spending way too much money for that drab of an interior.
Savagegeese said the same thing in his review. Two reviewers certainly can't be wrong.
Is the 4-cylinder their complaint as well? Or something else?
I think u might be allergic to the new Ford.
To think I have a 2.0 turbo in a Mini Cooper S weighing like 2800 lbs and they stuff a 2.3 turbo in a vehicle weighing almost 4500lbs should say it all folks. Awesome reviews guys from you’re Alberta fan club!!!!
I know, it's really hard to believe. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel from Alberta!
A long ways from the Eddie Bauer days when people chose them for the interior over anything else.
Wow that interior looks terrible. I’ve had my Kia Telluride for a year, and I absolutely love it. It offers so much more in style than this car.
probably because it's the base trim?
@@richardt2052 Ya might think that, right? But get in the top model. It has the same nasty hard plastics and cavernous panel gaps as this one. Just a poor job by Ford.
@@johnholst unfortunately this plagues the north american brands.. not all but most :( ....one of the reasons why imports are selling...
@@richardt2052 Yes, you're totally right. American makers have essentially given up on cars altogether. If not for full sized trucks, ALL US makers would be extinct. Sad.
The Telluride is beautiful, inside and out. Hard to beat the fit and finish.
Like the honest review.
Thanks for watching! :)
We just upgraded from a 2013 to a 2020. Had literally ZERO issues w the old one after putting 122k miles on it. Wiper blades, tires, gas and oil is all we did to it over the course of 7yrs so we decided to put our trust in the Explorer once again.
When you see explorer from outside you say wow , but once you get inside you suddenly feel that you changed your mind
How can u like the look of this Ford? It is dull, cheap, down market. I really appreciate your test drives but do not understand your tastes.
JR R...Really? From the outside, I think it looks great. Kinda reminded me of the Range Rover Sport. The problem is when you have to get in this beast. There, it looks really cheap and nasty.
I do like the boxy exterior, but it doesn't offer a lot more than that unfortunately. It just can't compete with other brands,
Exterior looks cheap just like the inside.
@@James-il3tq Well, looks are subjective. It's the interior I have bones with.
You're a moron. This platform is rwd biased, with a longitudinal engine setup. Superior handling characteristics similar to many premium brands. The formula was great, approach not so much. You clearly know nothing about "downmarket". The design is literally the best part about this car.
Great review. We considered the 2020 Ford Explorer but ended up getting a new 2019 VW Atlas that like you said had the better interior, space, and the 3rd row was so comfortable. Plus we liked the 6 year, 72000 mile bumper to bumper warranty that the VW had.
Can you imagine where Ford would be ... if they didn’t rely on Government contracts? If I were in Fleet sales for Kia/Hyundai, this new (?) Ford is a wet dream. Let alone for Dodge ... if they can keep it together. The “Buy American” can only take you so far! Thanks for another brutally honest and accurate video.
Great outfit.... Andrea.
Thanks for watching and for always supporting the channel
@@kellingtonlink956 Awww thanks so much! :)
Only die hard fans of Ford will buy this over the CX 9, Ascent & the new Highlander Nice review, though
I totally agree! Thanks so much for watching.
Ew CX-9. Only people that care solely about looks go for the CX-9. Also ew Ascent with a CVT, no thanks! Smart buyers go for the Highlander or Kia Hyundai twins.
@@Lucky8s The smart buyer gets an economical car. I wish all trucks/SUVs were restricted from using the left lane on our highways. If you don't require it for work or towing they should nit be allowed on the road.
@@seinsmeld13
Times are changing my man. Just did a short road trip into Forgetmenot Pond and got 15.3 km/L on my 2020 RAV4. That's 35 mpg. A small Corolla is rated at 38 highway so it's excellent fuel economy. The hybrid RAV4 and Venza (upcoming) easily get close to 40 mpg in all driving scenarios
@FERNANDO
Not sure about the Highlander but the RAV4 is made in Woodstock. The fit and finish of my 2020 RAV4 is pretty great but I'm still not completely sold on the whole Toyota is a reliability champ, certainly not after their engine block recall and two other recalls that have to do with the suspension.
Ford really whiffed it on this one, whoever did the Bronco needs to come save the Explorer.
venom5809 they raced it out
I really like the exterior design of this Explorer, especially in the top trims. Ford has made very subtle changes to the previous generation design that, I think, work well here. However, the interior is a huge disappointment. How can Ford think that it’s ok to put out a product like this in 2020?
Holy interior panels gaps.... Do better, Ford. I'll go for a Telluride or even a hybrid Highlander. Towing capability goes to the Ford IF you need it.
Their are downsides to the telluride simply like 0-60 in 7.2 while it's competitor explorer can do the same in 6.8 and has more hp at that.
Great great review. Thanks Andrea and Zack. Great job..
Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it! :)
Both of you are great at this
Thank you so much!
Can we see the front dashboard and the road as you drive too????
One thing Zack for got to mention was that Fords base 4 cylinder has more horsepower than VWs V6. Not sure if that was intentional or not.
The day I own a Kia will be a sad day. I bought a 2020 Explorer ST, and except for early computer problems, it's been great. The bad reviews center around the price and the 3rd row seating, which is ridiculous. Go buy a Jeep Compass or something. When I see that red ST emblem shining down on the pavement at night, I know where the money went...awesome.
I had an Explorer Sport which I believe was a 1997 edition. The engine went at around 30,000 km. The engine was replaced under warranty. The dealership was involved in an accident while road testing it. I filed a complaint to get my money refunded however my claim was denied because of this accident. I received $1,000 from Ford to be used on a replacement vehicle. That voucher was eventually put in our recycling box. That was my last Ford. Would I buy another Ford? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andrea and Zack, I am a huge fan! However, I do not agree with your review this time for the following reasons:
- rear while drive biased and near 50-50 weight distribution mean more fun to drive (unlike palisade, telluride, and CX-9 that are front wheel drive biased)
- Outgoing model had so many problems yet sales figures were very high. I expect the same for this model
- Explorer third row has the highest head room compared to its competitors
- 2.3 L engine with 300 hp and 310 lb-ft is not fast enough? That’s 6.3 seconds in a 0-100. It’s a full second faster than the CX-09!
- 255 tires are among the widest tires (improves handling and braking)
One con for the new explorer is the lack of all safety features on the base model. Pilot and Highlander offer them across the board.
Thank you! You answered the dead pedal question.
Very nice to have a two opinions review instead of the usual two white 50 year-old men saying the same thing together. Like it, keep it coming!
Thank you so much, glad you liked the review
Great review as always. Beautiful dress by the way.
Thank you so much! :)
Owned a 2nd gen Explorer and loved it, had it for over ten years! Tested 5th gen to change the old one, but I noticed several int. built quality issues so decided to go for a Fusion instead. Had the Fusion for two years and got rid of it as built quality was a major issue (engine and ext design were very good though). I was truly excited for the sixth gen Explorer, but after seeing it in the auto show and seeing several reviews, it looks like (sadly) it is not worth a try. I hope Ford gets their act together, in the meantime this fan went somewhere else. PS - Zach, keep an eye out for the coffin dancers... hehe
nice to see you on a summer dress Andrea, great review as always!
Thank you so much, glad you liked it! :) We finally have some great summer weather!
Which third row suv do you recommend a smoother ride?
Awesome review, you two!
Thank you so much, we are glad you liked it!
I owned a 2018 VOLKSWAGEN ATLAS but I liked also this 2020 Ford Explorer.
What a shame! This could've been sooooo good! RWD, nice exterior design and the best engine options in segment. But the gruff transmission, lack of 3rd row space, un-competitive pricing and that interior by Fisher Price are just deal breakers. ONLY die hard Ford people would buy this.
Totally agree!
The 10 speed transmission must be reprogrammed…
@@TheRacingShawn Yes, I'm sure they could fix it. But isn't it sad that they didn't think of that BEFORE they released the new model? Look at all the bad press they're getting because of it.
@@johnholst True. The similar transmission problem is also on Mustang 2.3t. Ford is my favorite US car maker. I really wish they come back strong. They need to work on details and car demands will then follow.
I miss the explorer from the middle 2000’s , my parents had one
How is the long term reliability of this 2.3 v4 300hp engine?
This car is a rear wheel drive car, you can’t compare this car with no front wheel drive car. If you are going to do so , well put the Grand Cherokee in to the comparison mix than. Guys this was not a good review.
Great review, nice job telling it like it is.
Thanks for watching!
I left from a 13 & 16 Explorer *(had an 06 Explorer Eddie Bauer and a Focus Wagon back in the day too)* but you nailed many of my concerns, Price, Quality, offerings, fit and finish and left to a 2020 Subaru Outback Limited XT.
There are regularly massive discounts on the Explorer and it is outselling in the US and Canada the Telluride and Palissade combined.
MY COUSIN BOUGHT A EDGE AND HE COULDN'T TELL ME THE TYPE OF ENGINE IN THE CAR .???
Ummmm, so? What’s your point?
Yikes!
It sounds like your cousin is definitely not a "car" person!:)
I used to be a huge Ford fan after leasing a 2015 XLT Crew Cab with the 3.5 ecoboost , it will take a miracle for me to gamble on a Ford again. Quality is not job one. Excellent review and it's important for Ford to get the picture. At these prices you need a competitive product. I think that it's a miss compared to where the market is moving. I think the Korean twins are positioned for the win with even Toyota caught off guard.
You are bang on!
Andrea Spencer I'm a big Toyota fan and I understand how Toyota operates as well. It's a very exciting time to be in the auto industry. I think the Korean twins are bringing their "A" game and it is risky to discount their attempts and abilities.
@@glenkellner9936 yes you are right!
Makes you wonder if the Bronco and Bronco Sport will live up to the hype once people can see it first hand and see the price. Anyone can put down $100 to get in line to purchase.
Curious what Andrea would say about the Aviator. Same platform, way nicer (way more money too, but competes strongly with merc/range rover's imo)
Good indepth review. Looks big in size, if you have a big size family this might be the auto for you. I really like the new Atlas Cross Sport..looks great.
Great review Zack and Andrea! Always entertaining and informative.
Does the RWD based platform pay any noticeable dynamic dividends over the FWD based competition?
If you get the ST version it handles very well.
Seems the guy had his mind made up from the get go and not really budge much at all. Looking at the used car market these Explorers are holding value quite well. Apparently a lot of folks are fine with it. I see them out and about a lot. I think they look nice. I suggest you buy what you like. Most vehicles now days compete with each other a lot. Thanks for the review.
The only 2020 explorer worth getting is the ST. It highlights the new rear wheel based platform. It handles better than anything in its class thanks to a near perfect weight distribution. The interior quality is definitely a let down for 60k...
The exterior design of the explorer is gorgeous. I could never drive a palisade it looks horrendous 🤢 Also there's the ST for few people who actually care about how these things drive at high speeds anymore. Admittingly it's overpriced but still awesome... bravo Ford for keeping rwd alive.
This was an excellent review.
the exterior design is A+ and has that aggressive look that the competitors lack - i.e. hyundais/kias look too bulgy and mini-van like. the engine is pretty snappy, however, the turbo-charged engine does bring some long term longevity questions. from here, unfortunately, things tend to go downhill from here.
...This is where the Koreans will eat their lunch all day long...
Why would anyone buy this over a Hyundai Palisade or Kia Telluride?
RWD platform, available with a ton of horsepower. Just like the Durango, these are for those with families but also care about the drive.
Also, fleet sales. Law enforcement, fire department, rental, government etc.
I have the ST its Fantastic!! I would never buy a kia or hyundai I dont care how good the geeks say it is!! Have had explorers since 03 and all have been Great safe Vehicles🇺🇸
2 reasons: I would have to drive around in a car that had a kia or hyundai Badge on it.😂
$200 a month more on a 48 month lease. Thats a chunk of change...
never again a 4 cyl turbo.... I had a CX9 Signature, got rid of it because i hated the power delivery.. very anemic on the highway for passing.... then I made a second mistake of buying a Merc C300 wagon.... then i got rid of that.... Then i bought an F150 Lariat Supercrew 3.5Ecoboost.... Love it!! Screw 4cyl turbos...
If you really like the sporty looks of the Korean suvs, you should really do a review on the 2021 Kia seltos, I love the way it looks.
They will need to improve on this model. It looks good on the outside, but for my money I'd buy a Toyota or Honda.
Ford needs to make improvements.
Those that live in mountains prefer the eco boosts especially to tow because it doesn’t lose power like naturally aspirated engines do at altitude. The f150 ecoboosts both out tow and are faster then the v8 available
Keep in mind this is built to be a police cruiser. Something you wouldn't want to do with the Korean twins. Just bought the Explorer. I think it's built for the long haul.
Telluride for me
I just watched both the CX-9 and Explorer video. I don’t understand why the i4 is a concern only in the Explorer? I would think that the 10sp would be more responsive then the 6sp?
American vehicles have always been associated with power and big engines. Even though the 4 cylinder is adequate it is kind of weird to have it in a large 3-row rear wheel drive SUV.
I want to the 2021 ST. Hope they fix all the 2020 issues
At the beginning of the video they call this Explorer "the base model". Well, it is an XLT, but its equipped with so many extras (comfort package, tow package, upgraded wheels, interior, 202a package with navigation) its hardly a "base" model. So the vehicle can become too expensive with pricey upgrades. I bought an XLT reasonably equipped for $37,000 U.S. And at @ 12:00 he says "I don't know why you would buy this over a Telluride or a Pallisade." I know style is subjective but the back of the Pallisade is hideous looking. I sat in it anyway and immediately had to get out to the salesman's dismay. The headrest in its furthest back position is still pitched so far forward there was no way to be in a comfortable driving position. The dashboard came up way too high and the seat was too low. And the amount of buttons (poorly defined) on the center stack rivaled button configurations from GM of the 1990's.
i disagree with u over the sale vs competition. There not gonna get killed in sales. Im seeing these everywhere and not many Tellurides.
It looks very nice outside. Classy and sleek. Way better than the awkward KIA IMO. The ST looks and engine wins it for me with captains chairs for kids. I can live with the more utilitarian interior just fine.
1. You forgot the mustang as well that engine is in there as well,
My parents had the old explorer from the 2000’s and loved it the old body on frame one
As the owner of a 2021 Explorer ST I have to say I agree 100% with what Zach said, the fit and finish is still poor for $66,000 ST model. Zach didnt even speak about the SYNC3 system and how its the laziest design of all three domestic OEM multimedia platforms. U-Connect and MyLink kill SYNC3 and new SYNC4 isnt much better. If Ford doesn't improve their quality quickly they will be left in the dust by the Koreans. I have driven a full load Telluride and I do agree its nice but slam the doors and you still get that tinny Korean car sound. In 2021 they did improve interior materials and they did fix transmission "Hunting" issues with software.
I LOVE their honest, humorous, and relatable reviews. I DO NOT like the unhonest thumbnails. It's kinda of insulting to use femininity as click bait. Yes, it works. But i, like many others, would click if the thumbnails had both man and woman.
Too much expense for the "new" platform...we phoned in the interior and someone noticed!! thank you!
Finally , 🙏🏼
Ford Explorer 2021
purchased on last week of January 2021

week 2. door and window make noises
week 3. window air leak. roof rail loose
week 5. transmission gone
total mileage to date only 6600km
vehicle @ dealership for more than 4 weeks for repairs.
I have asked Ford to replace it as there is obviously something very wrong with the car and it is not safe to drive around. But there response there is no lemon law in Canada and they can only repair it. I said enough is enough, in two months car has been at dealership for more than 5 weeks.
It is impacting immensely my family, Health and work. So I made some signs and sat infront of dealership as of protest but instead of offering help
They called police on me and my 4 years old, 8 years old and 11 years old kid. When investigated officer response was to Ford manager “I would be doing the same if you had sold me the lemon/ defective new car and I can’t interfare it is a civil matter”
Please help me as I am very helpless. I never expected customer services/rights could go this low in Canada.
Thankyou.
I have made complaints to Ford Canada. Here is car information

I like your honest opinions even if I dont agree completely. The xlt in this vid is a completely different machine than the ST. I have an ST and its Amazing and also My fourth explorer in a row!! Call me fanboy cause its true!!
I think the platform is shared with the ranger/bronco in many ways which means it’s already a 10 year old architecture. Hence the subpar ride quality
No, this isn't pickup based like the Bronco
I am a big Ford fan but I have to admit that you guys are right Ford should have done better with this car...
Well i got the 2021 ST and I never had an explorer before. Yes the Korean Telluride and the Palisade they are great cars however it doesn’t have that solid feel that the ST have and also don’t forget the Korean brothers have 291 hp. And the St has 400 hp. also Ford handles better because is a rear bias all wheel drive and the Telluride is front bias. I test drove all three of them and agree the telluride interior is better but the power and handling Ford does much better.
Enjoyed the commentary and the humor LOL though I really don’t see the appeal of the exterior of this vehicle. Also, the interior is almost Fisher Price for a brand new vehicle in 2020. That vertical screen is hilarious. It’s so bad. I like the look of the ST but man for the price... no thanks.
When I drove the Explorer as a loaner I agree on the transmission its to many gears for a 4 banger. I also didnt like the driver seating as my right arm is always hovering and gets old quick. I feel as if the seat is missing a right adjustable armrest.
I’m with you on this one. I have a 2016 sport and prefer the look of that year to the new version.
And I’m also disappointed with a lot of the changes they have made , it seems as though they are to justify price increases only. On the fence for now. Cheers.
That Chicago assembly plant has alot of issue. From quality work all the way to racism within the plant
@Der Schwindel the news
Nothing the two reviewers pointed out what they didn't like about the Explorer is assembly plant related, the panel gaps etc. would still be there no matter who built it. Piling on folks who aren't responsible for poor designs and engineering is a little disingenuous.
Good review, if only Ford would have taken the same approach they took with the reintroduction of the Bronco which seems to be a lot more innovative and aesthetically pleasing then this Explorer.
Thanks for the classy review Andrea, 4 cylinder, yikes - great sundress💃🤙🏾
Awe thank you so much, glad you liked the review. It's so nice to get some beautiful summer weather, I can finally wear a dress!
Andrea Spencer thanks for providing all this lovely content - stay safe in beautiful 🇨🇦
Great honest review. I think the previous version of the Explorer actually looked quite a bit better. The grille and headlights on this are awkward and the rear end looks discount and basic. I do like the profile, though. But the interior doesn't compare to the competition (especially KIA/Hyundai).
I agree! Can any of these brands compete with Kia & Hyundai? These two brands tick all the boxes on a 7 seater SUV, doesn't really get much better.
Best thing they did was go back to rear wheel drive with AWD. They need to put the cover back on the hitch area. Get rid of the vertical screen looks like a aftermarket past on unit. Front end nice the side sloping top good the rest need a restyle body lines and hide the rear wide post. like the. Put the bench seat back in second row. Your ripping off return customers buy making them pay for bench seat. Wider cargo area is great and the tail gate transition area better!
Any Ford car still shouts rental car. It's ok to drive around but I would never buy one. So many other options out there.
Agree with you and other folks on here. The people that buy these will never touch a Korean car cuz ‘murica.
@Der Schwindel Why would you buy this over a Highlander?
Der Schwindel Ok fine. I’m going to assume what you said is true. My point was not to emphasize Korean brands in particular. My point is that there are people who will buy American no matter what, without doing research or test driving. This in spite of the fact that many “American” cars are built abroad and many “imports” are built in the US.
I like the objective review...thank you! Like many here, the exterior looks very good and I'm high on the 400hp version but interior, fit and finishing is just disappointing. In addition, the reliability tests coming out of JD Power aren't impressive either. One of the biggest head scratchers, among many, are the fake exhaust tips.
Idk why people have a problem with the turbo 4 that puts out the same power
That 2.3L engine might be really good if paired to a strong hybrid system. Save on fuel and get the missing torque that it currently lacks.
But the key here is 'strong.' Not the pathetic excuse they put in the new f-150.
I agree with this review, very honest. The interiors in these new Explorers are so cheap looking. Fisher Price interior. I do agree with Andrea 100% on the exterior looks. I’ve enjoyed the boxier, more masculine looks of this Explorer but everything else is a let down.
Thanks for watching!
It still outselling the telluride 3 to 1. Even during a pandemic.
