  • Continuing our MMA Grappling Trinity with Coach Vince 'The Anomaly', we look at strategies to use strikes to open up and secure submissions like chokes and joint locks. Stay tuned, because next week we will look at the vice-versa, using sub attempts to open our opponents up for devastating strikes.

People often extend their arms when they are attacked in mount. This gives space for many submissions like the armbar, arm triangle, kimura or americana

Good form hugging the arm to your chest, then falling back. So many people can’t finish the armbar or their opponent escapes because they lay down and try to pull the arms towards them.

In Nate vs Conor 1, when Nate took Conor's back, Nate used strikes to the left side of Conor's head to get Conor to rotate his head to his right (away from the left hand strikes), moving his head right into the choke. Once Conor rotated his head away, Nate sunk the RNC. You could tell that was what Nate was doing and it worked beautifully!

Can you make a video or comment back as a reply on how to take down someone whos most likely a better striker than me without taking damage or getting caught while trying to go for the TD? I have a wrestling background and still have decent hands for someone about to have their first fight(Jan 26th). But the guy im fighting has a karate brown belt and a 1-0 kickboxing record. Thanks

Lol don't fight him. I mean if he was only bigger than you then you would be able to use your speed to you're advantage since typically the smaller guy is faster, but if he is really bigger and faster than you then you would need to be trained in some kind of martial arts if you want to beat him because in raw skill he'll always win

you should only fight to protect yourself or someone else, mainly because it is immoral, and Not the most effective or logical way to resolve an ongoing problem. even no injury altercations are considered illegal. when you are at a major physical disadvantage, and lack any real training having a lot of heart is one thing that can allow you to defeat your opponent(s). if you are fighting for something legit you should be able to use that to help you along.
