I couldn't get any of these techniques to work with the trays for a Precision T5820. Tried the screwdriver shimmy but felt too close to breaking the tray and stopped. What ultimately worked was taking the four rubber pins *out* of the tray, sticking them in the drive, lining one side up, and pushing the other down with a screwdriver until it popped in. The rubber part had enough give/squish that I could wiggle it down. Once all four were generally in the right place, I used the flathead screwdrivers to straighten out the "wings" of the rubber bits that had gotten twisted a bit on the way in.
I've used a screw driver in the same disassembly sequence and all went well. Thank you.
I run a Mocap lab and was throwing in 6tbs of drives. Thanks again! This also worked on my P7920
Screw driver was a good idea, but instead of using it to flex the tray, flip the tray over and use the screw driver to depress the pins. The rubber harness will deform enough for the pin to slip in without the tray needing to flex
You saved my workstation from frustrating hdd slot thanks!!
At 3:09, I've found that if you start with the pins on the outside edge, it is much easier to seat the remaining pins. The center piece is much more flexible. No tools required.
I think you're right. Thanks for the tip!
how to remove that damn center piece so I can install 3.5 in that tray? can't figure it out
oh my god. I was literally pushing the rubber screws from the back side with all the power I had, and I am a PhD student.
Very good tutorial! You are clear and concise...and spot on!
Thank you for the kind words!
@@GreenPCGamerscom Yes, sir! I have installed but Win 10 is not recognizing the drive. Since you are very well versed with T7600, are their changes required before installing an SSD? I want to use this as my system drive.
Are you saying the drive is not showing up in the windows 10 utility when you try to load windows 10? If so, yes, there is a driver that you'll need to load for windows 10 to recognize your ssd.
@@GreenPCGamerscom I loaded the driver but Win 10 did not like it either. Just chatted with Samsung and tech had me go to a command prompt and under DISKPART> List Disk does not show the ssd
I am caving to Dell's paid support for out-of-warranty workstation.
Hi great Video
Can the Dell T7600 have more then 1 SSD drive ? IE 1 for OS and then additional for storage ?
Thanks
Any idea where I can buy the tray from ?
I am confused how you were able to use the flathead... my issue isn't left or right... it's like the drive is too large for the tray and i would need to pull back to get the screws in the drive... but im nervous about breaking the tray
This video was made for the 2.5" drive install, not the 3.5" version. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/HhDWMEblpd4/v-deo.html
Where can one buy that caddy, I checked and I couldn't find a 2.5 to 3.5 made for dell that was on sale.
You can find them on Ebay.
Very good tutorial, can you tell me please when can I find that adapter for SSD ??? Thank you

You can pick them up on auction sites like Ebay.
Where can i buy of the these caddie tray or something compatible??
Check ebay.
What if I don’t have that divider? What can I do?
If you are installing a 2.5” drive you will need the divider.
@@GreenPCGamerscom I purchased a new tray with divider on EBAY ~ 12 bucks.
@@1gtuber I also need the tray with divider for my T7600, but can't find any. How did you search? I believe the part# is HN058? Any suggestions where I can get these? EDIT: I found some for T7610. Same item? P/N 1B31PR000-600-G ?
