Lee Labrada explains the importance of intensity in your workout. His principle is quality over quantity. Here Lee outlines three ways to intensify your workout.
1. Increase the amount of weight you are using.
2. Increase the number of repetitions.
3. Decrease the amount of time it takes you to perform a set.

Lee Labrada, Lee Haney, Lee Priest. I must change my name to Lee to make my muscles grow.

Mr Olympia 1989...uncrowned!
Still looking amazing Lee....inspirational video series....massive value given
You were one of my favourites, back in the day. Great all round bodybuilding package. I have used your products and not only did they work really well they tasted really great. And you still look super!
still looks great.
I love the analogies you use when explaining training principles, Lee. The dynamite idea makes it clear. I remember how you also mentioned that contest dieting is like the landing of a jet. You want do it slow and smoothly without any drastic changes.
+proctorlove great to have you as part of our UA-cam channel, thank you for the kind comments, all the best.
Good points. I also believe in the occasional use of post-failure techniques such as forced reps, assisted reps, drop sets, and isometric holds.
i wasted two years of my life training the wronge way, 5 days a week 1 hour to 1 and half hours a each day with rediculous amount of sets for each wo, during that time period i lost weight , didnt gain muscles. but when i started to know about mike mentzer my logic changed now in 1 year and a few months i gained and for the first time since i started traing i saw real results wich made me happy, and thanks lee for further clarifying the issue of volume.
Great advice Lee.
Very good analogy

thank you for your advice Lee.
Anytime Ronald, all the best.
man he looks great still!!!
Should one use failure techniques(rest-pause,negs,drop set, etc) everytime you workout?Plus what if I did something different every workout to shock and keep the muscles guessing? ex. biceps: alt.curls then finish with drop set preacher, then next workout do hammer/alt.curl/concentration curls? Never the same workout BUT always intensty.
Hey Tmv108. Muscle confusion is key to growth, however performing every exercise to failure can lead to over training. Keeping your workout routine the same for 3-4 weeks is a great idea.1 out of every 3-4 week period could be used as a failure set week. Thanks again for the question. All the best with your fitness goals!
He actually looks better @ 50 than he did in his "day" ~ what's the "secret?" LOL
Wasnt that a Mentzer quote at the end about the dynamite, or was that a Yates quote? Can't remember, I think Dorian used the Hammer and Nail analogy...
Super charge befor workout

+Vijay Vichare The key to gaining any type of body mass is a calorie surplus. Here at Labrada we recommend about 18-20 calories per body pound per day as a starting goal to gain mass. Along with at least 1 gram of protein per body pound per day, along with 2 grams of carbs per body pound per day to start. Healthy fats can be anywhere from 15-30% of your total calorie intake as well. Hope these few tips help you reach your goals, all the best.
